Description
画素が配列された表示領域を有する反射型の画像表示部、及び、
画像表示部に向かって斜め前方から光を照射する照明装置、
を備えており、
表示領域における光の散乱特性は角度依存性を有しており、
照明装置は、同一階調の画像が表示された表示領域を所定の観測位置から観察したときに画像の輝度が均一となるように調整された強度分布の光を照射する表示装置である。
表示領域における光の散乱特性が角度依存性を有する反射型の画像表示部に向かって斜め前方から光を照射する照明装置であって、

1.本開示に係る表示装置および照明装置、全般に関する説明
2.第1の実施形態(その他)
本開示の照明装置、あるいは又、本開示の表示装置に用いられる照明装置(以下、これらを単に、本開示の照明装置と呼ぶ場合がある)にあっては、上述したように、同一階調の画像が表示された表示領域を所定の観測位置から観察したときに画像の輝度が均一となるように調整された強度分布の光を照射する。ここで、「画像の輝度が均一」とは、厳密に均一である場合の他、実使用上において均一である場合をも含む。
第1の実施形態は、本開示に係る表示装置および照明装置に関する。
Claims (3)
- 画素が2次元配列された表示パネルにより形成された表示領域と、前記表示領域に面して設けられ、屈折率が異なる2つの微小領域が前記2次元配列の一方向を延設方向として延びて形成され、且つ、当該2つの微小領域が前記表示領域の面に対して所定角度で配向されて交互に形成された異方性散乱フィルムとを有する反射型の画像表示部、及び、
前記微小領域の延設方向に沿って延びる発光部を有し、前記表示領域の鉛直方向の空間の外側で前記表示領域から所定の高さの位置に配置され、前記表示領域に対し光を照射する照明装置、
を備えており、
前記異方性散乱フィルムは、
前記画像表示部が前記表示領域の全領域において同一階調の画像を表示した際に、前記照明装置からの入射光の入射角度に応じた略一定の強さの光を所定の散乱範囲の角度内に散乱させるように、前記2つの微小領域の屈折率及び前記表示領域の面に対する所定角度が決められており、
前記照明装置は、
同一階調の画像が表示した際に、前記表示領域の全領域における前記所定の散乱範囲の角度内に入る観測位置で輝度が均一となるように調整された強度分布の光を照射する
表示装置。 - 前記照明装置は、前記発光部として複数の光源を備えており、
前記各光源の発光量が制御されることによって前記表示領域に照射する光の強度分布が調整される
請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記照明装置は、前記発光部として光源と調光部とを備えており、
前記調光部によって前記光源から前記表示領域に照射する光の強度分布が調整される
