Claims (19)
- 隔壁により区切られた複数の単位セルを含み、前記単位セルの各々は、透明基板と前記透明基板の底面に形成された第2電極とを有する上板と、前記上板に対向しており、両端部に個別に形成された第1電極を有する下板と、前記下板の下部に形成された反射板と、前記上板と前記下板との間に収容された流体中に分散された複数の帯電した透過型着色粒子と、を含み、
前記単位セルの前記第1電極の下部に、前記第1電極より小さい面積の対応電極が形成されることを特徴とする電気泳動表示素子。 - 前記単位セルが、互いに異なる極性に帯電して互いに異なる色相を有する、複数の種類の透過型帯電粒子を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記反射板が、脱着可能な構造であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記反射板の材質が、紙、布またはプラスチック類であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記表示素子が、透過型であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記対応電極の幅が、前記第1電極に比べて10μm以上狭いことを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記表示素子が、二つの単位セルが垂直に積層される構造を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記垂直に積層される構造は、1セルあたり2つの互いに異なる色相を有する単位セルを二つ含むことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記垂直に積層される構造の上層および下層のいずれか一層が、1セルあたり1つの色相を有する単位セルであることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記垂直に積層される構造は、1セルあたり1つの色相を有する単位セルが二つ並列に配置され、それらの上に共通の1セルあたり1つの色相を有する単位セルが一つ垂直に積層される構造を含むことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記垂直に積層される構造は、1セルあたり1つの色相を有する単位セルが二つ並列に配置され、それらの上に1セルあたり1つの色相を有する単位セルがそれぞれ垂直に積層される構造を含むことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記表示素子は、1セルあたり2つの互いに異なる色相を有する単位セルが二つ並列に配置される構造を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記二つの単位セルのいずれか一つが、1セルあたり1つの色相を有することを特徴とする請求項12に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記透過型着色粒子の色相が、シアン、マゼンタおよびイエローから選択されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記透過型着色粒子の色相が、赤色、緑色および青色をさらに含む色相から選択されることを特徴とする請求項14に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 前記二つの単位セルの4つの色相のいずれか一つが、黒色であることを特徴とする請求項8または12に記載の電気泳動表示素子。
- 隔壁により区切られた複数の単位セルを含み、前記単位セルの各々は、透明基板の底面に第2電極が形成された上板と、前記上板に対向しており、両端部に個別に第1電極が形成された下板と、前記下板の下部に形成された反射板と、前記上板と前記下板との間に収容された流体中に分散された複数の帯電した透過型着色粒子と、を含み、前記単位セルの前記第1電極の下部に、前記第1電極より小さい面積の対応電極が形成される電気泳動表示素子の駆動方法において、
前記方法は、帯電した透過型着色粒子を流体中に均一に分散させて色相を発色する段階と、
帯電した透過型着色粒子を前記第1電極に凝集させて色相を消去する段階と、
を含むことを特徴とする電気泳動表示素子の駆動方法。 - 前記単位セルが、互いに異なる極性に帯電して互いに異なる色相を有する、複数の種類の透過型帯電粒子を含むことを特徴とする請求項17に記載の電気泳動表示素子の駆動方法。
- 前記方法は、前記第1電極間または前記第1電極と前記第2電極との間に交流またはパルス信号を印加することにより、前記第1電極に凝集した透過型着色粒子を流体中において均一に再分散させることを特徴とする請求項17または18に記載の電気泳動表示素子の駆動方法。
