底部領域と、頂部領域と、前記底部領域又はその付近に流体入口ポート及び流体出口ポートと、を備える縦型チャンバであって、前記底部領域が前記頂部領域より広くなるように同底部領域はフレア状である、縦型チャンバと、
前記頂部領域又はその付近に配置される微細孔フィルタであって、同微細孔フィルタを介して前記縦型チャンバから空気を放出させながら同縦型チャンバを第一の液体で満たせるように、前記第一の液体が前記流体入口ポートから前記流体出口ポートまで前記縦型チャンバを通過するように構成された微細孔フィルタと、
を含み、
前記流体出口ポートは使用時には前記フィルタに対して垂直方向に整列され、かつ前記流体入口ポートは使用時には前記フィルタから水平方向にずれており、
前記縦型チャンバは、同縦型チャンバの底部領域にある第二の液体の一部が前記流体入口ポートから前記流体出口ポートまで同縦型チャンバを通過する際に、前記縦型チャンバに満たされている第一の液体が前記縦型チャンバの頂部領域に停滞した状態にて留まるのに十分な高さを有し、それにより、前記第二の液体の一部を前記流体入口ポートから前記流体出口ポートまで同縦型チャンバを通過させると、前記第一の液体が前記縦型チャンバの頂部領域に留まるとともに前記第一の液体と混和性である前記第二の液体が前記縦型チャンバの底部領域に留まり、かつ前記第一の液体は前記第二の液体と前記微細孔フィルタとの直接の接触を回避する、装置。 - 前記微細孔フィルタは疎水性材料を含む請求項1に記載の装置。

複数の弾性管と、

前記縦型チャンバは底部領域と、頂部領域と、前記底部領域又はその付近に流体入口ポート及び流体出口ポートと、前記頂部領域又はその付近に疎水性微細孔フィルタと、を備え、それにより、前記微細孔フィルタを介して前記縦型チャンバから空気を放出させながら同縦型チャンバを第一の液体で満たせるように、前記第一の液体が前記流体入口ポートから前記流体出口ポートまで前記縦型チャンバを通過し、
前記底部領域が前記頂部領域よりも広くなるように、同底部領域はフレア状であり、前記流体出口ポートは使用時には前記フィルタに対して垂直方向に整列され、かつ前記流体入口ポートは使用時には前記フィルタから水平方向にずれており、
前記縦型チャンバは、同縦型チャンバの底部領域にある第二の液体の一部が前記流体入口ポートから前記流体出口ポートまで同縦型チャンバを通過する際に、前記縦型チャンバに満たされている第一の液体が前記縦型チャンバの頂部領域に停滞した状態にて留まるのに十分な高さを有し、それにより、前記第二の液体の一部を前記流体入口ポートから前記流体出口ポートまで同縦型チャンバを通過させると、前記第一の液体が前記縦型チャンバの頂部領域に留まるとともに前記第一の液体と混和性である前記第二の液体が前記縦型チャンバの底部領域に留まり、かつ前記第一の液体は前記第二の液体と前記微細孔フィルタとの直接の接触を回避し、
前記複数の凹部部分のうちの第二凹部部分は前記第一凹部部分の底部領域と流体連通する第一チャネルを形成し、
前記複数の凹部部分のうちの第三凹部部分は前記第一凹部部分の前記底部領域と流体連通する第二チャネルを形成し、
前記第二凹部部分及び第三の凹部部分は前記剛体の縁部に延びると共に、各々が前記複数の弾性管のうちの一つの管と流体連通し、
前記複数の凹部部分のうちの第四凹部部分は前記第三凹部部分の一部に重なると共に、同第三凹部部分よりも幅が広く、
前記複数の凹部部分のうちの第五凹部部分は第三チャネルを形成すると共に、前記剛体の縁部から延び、同第五凹部部分は複数の前記弾性管のうちの一つの管と流体連通する、要素。 - 医療処置を行う前に、体外回路において請求項1に記載の装置から空気を除去する方法において、前記方法は、
前記装置の流体入口ポートより縦型チャンバに生理食塩水のみを導入し、同縦型チャンバを同生理食塩水で満たすことによって前記空気を除去する工程を含む、方法。
