Description
各ICは、入力されたモード選択信号の電圧レベルに応じて、処理内容の異なる2種類の処理モードを選択的に実行する処理部を有し、前記基板には、前記2種類の処理モードに対応した2種類の前記モード選択信号を各ICに向けてそれぞれ送信する2本の送信配線と、前記2本の送信配線によって送信される前記2種類のモード選択信号の中から1つを選択して各ICに出力する信号選択手段が設けられ、さらに、各ICは、前記2本の送信配線とそれぞれ接続される2つの第1入力端子と、これら2つの第1入力端子とは離れた位置に設けられるとともに前記処理部に信号を出力する第2入力端子とを有し、前記2つの第1入力端子のうち、一方の前記第1入力端子には、前記送信配線から、前記モード選択信号を兼ねるグランドレベルの信号が入力されるとともに、他方の前記第1入力端子には、前記送信配線から、前記モード選択信号を兼ねる、電圧レベルが前記ICを駆動する電源の電圧レベルに等しい信号が入力され、前記基板に設けられた前記信号選択手段は、前記ICが前記基板に実装されたときに、このICに設けられた前記2つの第1入力端子のうちの何れか1つと前記第2入力端子とを短絡させる導電性部材であることを特徴とするものである。
また、2種類のモード選択信号として、グランドレベルの信号と、ICを駆動する電源(制御用電源)の電圧レベルの信号とを用いることで、グランドレベルやIC駆動用電源の電圧レベル以外の、特殊な電圧レベルを有する信号を生成する必要性が低くなり、送信側の回路構成がより簡単になる。
前記基板には2つの前記ICが実装されるとともに、前記複数の記録素子は前記2つのICによってそれぞれ駆動される2つの記録素子群に区分され、各ICの前記処理部は、前記2種類の処理モードとして、前記2つの記録素子群に対して駆動信号を生成して出力する、2つの駆動モードを選択的に実行可能であり、さらに、各ICの前記処理部は、前記信号選択手段から入力された前記モード選択信号に基づいて前記2つの駆動モードの中から1つの駆動モードを選択することを特徴とするものである。

Claims (5)
- 基板と、同一の回路構成を有し、前記基板に実装される複数のICを備えた配線基板であって、
各ICは、入力されたモード選択信号の電圧レベルに応じて、処理内容の異なる2種類の処理モードを選択的に実行する処理部を有し、
前記基板には、前記2種類の処理モードに対応した2種類の前記モード選択信号を各ICに向けてそれぞれ送信する2本の送信配線と、前記2本の送信配線によって送信される前記2種類のモード選択信号の中から1つを選択して各ICに出力する信号選択手段が設けられ、
さらに、各ICは、前記2本の送信配線とそれぞれ接続される2つの第1入力端子と、これら2つの第1入力端子とは離れた位置に設けられるとともに前記処理部に信号を出力する第2入力端子とを有し、
前記2つの第1入力端子のうち、一方の前記第1入力端子には、前記送信配線から、前記モード選択信号を兼ねるグランドレベルの信号が入力されるとともに、他方の前記第1入力端子には、前記送信配線から、前記モード選択信号を兼ねる、電圧レベルが前記ICを駆動する電源の電圧レベルに等しい信号が入力され、
前記基板に設けられた前記信号選択手段は、前記ICが前記基板に実装されたときに、このICに設けられた前記2つの第1入力端子のうちの何れか1つと前記第2入力端子とを短絡させる導電性部材であることを特徴とする配線基板。 - 前記基板には、前記ICに信号を入力するための入力配線が前記複数の送信配線と並んで配置されており、
前記2本の送信配線のうちの、グランドレベルの信号を送信する送信配線が、前記電源の電圧レベルの信号を送信する送信配線よりも前記入力配線の近くに配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の配線基板。 - 複数の記録素子を有する記録ヘッドに接続される配線基板であって、
前記基板には2つの前記ICが実装されるとともに、前記複数の記録素子は前記2つのICによってそれぞれ駆動される2つの記録素子群に区分され、
各ICの前記処理部は、前記2種類の処理モードとして、前記2つの記録素子群に対して駆動信号を生成して出力する、2つの駆動モードを選択的に実行可能であり、
さらに、各ICの前記処理部は、前記信号選択手段から入力された前記モード選択信号に基づいて前記2つの駆動モードの中から1つの駆動モードを選択することを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の配線基板。 - 前記複数の記録素子は、所定の一方向に配列されるとともに、この所定の一方向と交差する方向に並んだ複数の記録素子列を構成しており、
前記ICから、前記交差方向に関して奇数番目の前記記録素子列に出力される駆動信号と、偶数番目の前記記録素子列に出力される駆動信号は、異なる駆動波形を有するものであり、
前記2つの記録素子群のうち、一方の記録素子群には、前記奇数番目の記録素子列の少なくとも一部が含まれるとともに、他方の記録素子群には、前記偶数番目の記録素子列の少なくとも一部が含まれることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の配線基板。 - 1つの前記ICによって駆動される1つの前記記録素子群には、前記奇数番目の記録素子列と前記偶数番目の記録素子列とがそれぞれ一部ずつ含まれていることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の配線基板。
