Description
Claims (4)
- 互いに対向配置された一対の基板間に液晶層が挟持された液晶表示パネルと、
前記一対の基板の外面に配置された偏光板と、
前記偏光板に対向した面光源装置と、を備え、
前記面光源装置は、光源と、
前記光源に対向する光入射面、前記光入射面から入射した光を出射する光出射面、及び前記光出射面に対向する対向面を有する導光体と、
前記偏光板と前記導光体との間に配置され光を偏光する特性を有するプリズムシートと、を備え、
前記導光体は、前記光出射面及び前記対向面の少なくとも一方にプリズムを有し、
前記プリズムシートは、プリズムを有し、このプリズムが延びる方向と前記導光体のプリズムが延びる方向とが成す角が82乃至86度に設定され、
前記偏光板の偏光軸と前記プリズムシートの最大光量発生方向とが成す角が0度以上20度以下に設定されている液晶表示装置。 - 前記プリズムシートは、PET基材からなる請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。
- 一対の基板間に液晶組成物を注入して液晶表示パネルを形成する工程と、
前記一対の基板の外面に偏光板を固定する工程と、
前記偏光板に対向する面光源装置を形成する工程と、
前記液晶表示パネルと前記面光源装置とを組み合せる工程と、を備え、
前記面光源装置を形成する工程は、少なくとも一方の主面にプリズムを有するマザー導光体を形成する工程と、
板状部材を引き伸ばし、いずれか一方の面にプリズムを形成して光を偏光する特性を有するシート状部材を形成する工程と、
前記シート状部材のプリズムの延びる方向と前記マザー導光体のプリズムの延びる方向とが成す角が82乃至86度となるように前記マザー導光体と前記シート状部材とを重ねる工程と、
前記マザー導光体と前記シート状部材とを割断する工程と、を備え、
前記液晶表示パネルと前記面光源装置とを組み合せる工程は、前記液晶表示パネルと前記面光源装置とを、前記プリズムシートの最大光量発生方向と前記偏光板の偏光軸との成す角が0度以上20度以下となるように組み合せる工程を備える液晶表示装置の製造方法。 - 前記プリズムシートの最大光量発生方向と前記偏光板の偏光軸との角度の設定は、前記プリズムシートを反時計回りに回転させて設定する請求項3記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法。
