Description
複数の画素表示部を備え、横電界で液晶層を駆動するカラー表示の液晶表示装置であって、
前記複数の画素表示部の各々に対応する位置に配置された複数の互いに同じ膜厚のカラーフィルタを有する第1の基板と、
データ線と共通線が形成された基板と、該基板上に形成され、前記データ線を覆うパッシベーション膜と、該パッシベーション膜上に位置する透明有機膜と、を有する第2の基板と、を備え、
前記液晶層は、前記第1の基板と、前記第2の基板との間に位置し、
前記透明有機膜上には、前記共通線に接続された共通電極が配設され、
前記共通電極は、前記データ線を、前記データ線よりも広い幅で、且つ前記データ線と重なるように、前記パッシベーション膜と前記透明有機膜を介して覆い、
前記透明有機膜は、対向する前記カラーフィルタの色に応じた厚さを有し、その膜厚は、対向する前記カラーフィルタの色が同一の部分同士は同一で、対向する前記カラーフィルタの色が異なる部分同士は互いに異なり、
前記液晶層の厚みと前記透明有機膜の厚みとの和が、前記カラーフィルタの色に拘わらず一定であり、
前記複数の画素表示部に対応する前記液晶層の厚みの比は、前記複数のカラーフィルタ各々の透過スペクトルにおける透過率がピーク時の70%以上である波長領域からそれぞれ選択された波長の比に実質的に等しい、
ことを特徴とする。
前記パッシベーション膜上に前記透明有機膜を一様な厚みに形成する工程と、
形成された前記透明有機膜を、フォトマスクを介して、前記複数の画素表示部に対応する位置ごとに異なる強度の光で露光する工程と、
露光された前記透明有機膜をウエットエッチングで除去し、前記複数の画層表示部に対応する位置ごとに異なる厚みを有する前記透明有機膜にパターニングする工程と、を備えることを特徴とする。

Claims (3)
- 複数の画素表示部を備え、横電界で液晶層を駆動するカラー表示の液晶表示装置であって、
前記複数の画素表示部の各々に対応する位置に配置された複数の互いに同じ膜厚のカラーフィルタを有する第1の基板と、
データ線と共通線が形成された基板と、該基板上に形成され、前記データ線を覆うパッシベーション膜と、該パッシベーション膜上に位置する透明有機膜と、を有する第2の基板と、を備え、
前記液晶層は、前記第1の基板と、前記第2の基板との間に位置し、
前記透明有機膜上には、前記共通線に接続された共通電極が配設され、
前記共通電極は、前記データ線を、前記データ線よりも広い幅で、且つ前記データ線と重なるように、前記パッシベーション膜と前記透明有機膜を介して覆い、
前記透明有機膜は、対向する前記カラーフィルタの色に応じた厚さを有し、その膜厚は、対向する前記カラーフィルタの色が同一の部分同士は同一で、対向する前記カラーフィルタの色が異なる部分同士は互いに異なり、
前記液晶層の厚みと前記透明有機膜の厚みとの和が、前記カラーフィルタの色に拘わらず一定であり、
前記複数の画素表示部に対応する前記液晶層の厚みの比は、前記複数のカラーフィルタ各々の透過スペクトルにおける透過率がピーク時の70%以上である波長領域からそれぞれ選択された波長の比に実質的に等しい、
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記複数の画素表示部は、代表波長の異なる3つの光のそれぞれが透過する3つの画素表示部から構成され、
前記第1の基板は、前記複数の画素表示部の各々を囲むように形成された遮光部をさらに有し、
前記透明有機膜の前記遮光部に対応する位置の膜厚は、前記3つの光のうち代表波長の値が中間の光を透過する画素表示部に対応する位置における前記透明有機膜の膜厚と同じである、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の液晶表示装置の製造方法であって、
前記パッシベーション膜上に前記透明有機膜を一様な厚みで形成する工程と、
形成された前記透明有機膜を、フォトマスクを介して、前記複数の画素表示部に対応する位置ごとに異なる強度の光で露光する工程と、
露光された前記透明有機膜をウエットエッチングで除去し、前記複数の画層表示部に対応する位置ごとに異なる厚みを有する前記透明有機膜にパターニングする工程と、
を備えることを特徴とする液晶表示装置の製造方法。
