BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an organic electroluminescence element used as a display element, a light emitting element, etc.WithThe present invention relates to an organic electroluminescence display device (organic EL display device).
[0002]
[Prior art]
An electroluminescence element (hereinafter referred to as an EL element) is an element that is excited by applying an electric field to a fluorescent compound to emit light. Since the EL element is self-luminous, it has high visibility, and since it is a completely solid element, it has characteristics such as excellent impact resistance. Therefore, various EL elements using inorganic and organic compounds as light-emitting materials are used. EL devices have been researched and developed. Such EL elements can be classified into inorganic EL elements and organic EL elements depending on the fluorescent compound used.
[0003]
Among them, the organic EL element injects electrons and holes (holes) from the outside, recombines them in a light emitting layer made of an organic compound, and excites the emission center by the recombination energy at this time. . Further, the organic EL element operates with a direct current and is driven at a much lower voltage than the inorganic EL element. Further, it has a sandwich structure in which the light emitting layer and the carrier transport layer are sandwiched between the cathode and anode electrodes, and has a feature that a planar light emitter can be obtained by making at least one of the electrodes transparent.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, as an application of the organic EL element as described above, there are various shapes such as a thin film panel, a belt shape, and a cylindrical shape, for example, a display use such as a line, a drawing, and an image. In order to fabricate the element, it is preferable to use a thin and flexible substrate as the substrate. As such a thin and flexible substrate, for example, in JP-A-2-251429 and JP-A-6-124785, a polymer film is used. However, in the case of these organic EL elements, the organic film deteriorates due to oxygen or water vapor that penetrates the polymer film as the substrate and penetrates into the organic EL element. I'm worried about durability. In other words, an organic EL element and an organic electroluminescence display device (hereinafter referred to as an organic EL display device) having good flexibility and excellent light emission characteristics and durability have not yet been established. is there.
[0005]
Accordingly, the present invention has been made in view of the above-described conventional situation, and has an organic EL element having good flexibility and excellent light emitting characteristics and durability.WithAn object is to provide an organic EL display device.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
An organic electroluminescence display device according to the present invention (hereinafter referred to as an organic EL display device) isFormed in a substantially rectangular shapeA screen unit, a circuit unit for driving the screen unit,A storage section capable of storing the screen section and the circuit section;WithTheThe screen sectionFilm-like stainless steel with a thickness of 50 μm or more and 500 μm or less formed in a substantially rectangular shapeOn the boardSilicon nitride or aluminum nitride having a thickness of 500 μm or lessAn organic electroluminescent layer having a light emitting material made of an insulating layer, a first electrode and an organic compoundIt consists of TiN with a thickness of 3 μm or more and 10 μm or lessThe organic electroluminescence element comprising the second electrode in this order, and a wiring connecting the organic electroluminescence element and the circuit unit;A protective sheet having water repellency formed on the surface of the stainless steel substrate opposite to the side on which the first electrode is formed, and holding means for holding the wound state of the screen portion; It ’s supposed to be woundTheA structure including an insulating layer, a first electrode, an organic electroluminescence layer, and a second electrodestainlessNot formed directly on the substrate. The The circuit portion is provided along one side edge of the screen portion, and the electroluminescence element and the circuit portion have a second side and a second side substantially orthogonal to the first side facing the one side edge of the screen portion. 3 is arranged in a straight line parallel to the three sides, and is electrically connected to the anode of the electroluminescence element, and is parallel to the first side from the electroluminescence element toward the second side and the third side. Are drawn in a straight line, bent in a direction substantially perpendicular to the first side, arranged in a straight line parallel to the second side and the third side, and electrically connected to the cathode of the electroluminescent element. It is electrically connected by horizontal wiring. The screen part is wound in the direction orthogonal to the one side end part on which the circuit part is arranged with the protective sheet facing outside, and the wound outermost end part is held by the holding means, and the wound state is maintained. In the storage sectionCan be stored.
[0007]
YesSince the device EL element uses a film-like metal substrate as a substrate, oxygen, water vapor, and the like are prevented from penetrating the substrate and entering and diffusing into the organic EL element. Therefore, the inside of the organic EL element is not deteriorated by oxygen and water vapor outside the organic EL element entering and diffusing into the organic EL element.
[0008]
Moreover, since this organic EL element uses the film-form metal substrate as a board | substrate, it is significantly reduced in weight compared with the organic EL element using the conventional glass substrate.
[0009]
Since the organic EL element uses a film-like metal substrate, the organic EL element itself has excellent flexibility due to the flexibility of the film-like metal substrate. And, when the organic EL element has flexibility, when various devices are configured using the organic EL element, for example, when a display or the like is configured, the organic EL element can be rolled up and stored. It is possible to cope with various usage forms.
[0010]
Furthermore, since this organic EL element uses a film-like metal substrate that is superior in impact resistance to impacts such as dropping compared to a glass substrate, it is considered to have excellent impact resistance.
[0011]
Moreover, in this organic EL element, the structure which comprises the said organic EL element is directly formed into a film on a board | substrate, and the element is formed. Therefore, this organic EL element has a thin element. And since the thickness of an organic EL element becomes thin, when comprising an apparatus using an organic EL element, size reduction of an apparatus is attained and the freedom degree of an apparatus structure becomes large.
[0012]
In addition, by reducing the thickness of the organic EL element itself, the flexibility of the organic EL element is further improved, and the usage forms when various devices are configured using the organic EL element are further expanded. .
[0013]
And in this organic EL element, since a multilayer thin film is directly formed on a board | substrate, the process of organic EL element preparation is made simple, and it is excellent in production efficiency.
[0015]
The organic EL display device according to the present invention includes an organic EL element having a screen portion formed on a flexible film-like metal substrate. Therefore, the screen portion has flexibility, and the screen portion can be wound and accommodated by this flexibility.
[0016]
In this organic EL display device element, the organic EL elements constituting the screen portion are directly formed on the substrate to form the elements. Therefore, this organic EL element has a thin element. And since the thickness of a screen part can be made thin when the thickness of an organic EL element becomes thin, it becomes possible to respond to various usage forms.
[0017]
In this organic EL display device, since the multilayer thin film is directly formed on the substrate when the organic EL element is formed, the manufacturing process is simplified and the production efficiency is excellent.
