Description

TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a safety razor, and more particularly to a safety razor blade unit. The blade unit of the present invention can be applied to a cartridge mounted so that it can be replaced with a handle at the time of use, or a shaving head of a disposable razor having a blade support portion fixedly attached to the handle.
2. Description of the Prior Art Safety razor cartridges commonly available on the market comprise a generally rectangular molded plastic frame having a guard on the longitudinally extending frame and a cap surface. Within the opening of the frame are a pair of blades arranged in tandem with cut edges parallel to each other and toward the guard surface. The blade is supported by each support fixedly attached to the blade, and the edge of the blade support slides into the groove on the end wall of the frame so that the blade can be retracted according to the force applied to the blade during shaving. Is done. The spring acts to bring the blade to its normal rest position.
It is known that the so-called shaving geometry of the blade unit is important for determining how well the blade unit is shaved. The shaving geometry defines the position and orientation of the blade in relation to other skin contacts, particularly the guard and cap of the blade unit. One parameter of the shaving geometry is the blade exposure, which is the vertical distance determined by the exposure of the cutting edge on the shaving surface that is in contact with the skin contact surface immediately before or after the cutting edge. Since the above-mentioned known blades have a plurality of blades mounted, the exposure is reduced when a sufficiently large load to overcome the spring force is applied to the blades. Another important factor in the shaving geometry is the blade tangent angle, ie the angle at which the center plane of the blade intersects the contact surface, the contact surface being tangent to the blade edge and the surface of the skin contact area. Tangent. For example, in a pair of blade cartridges, the contact angle of the first or main blade is the angle of the blade relative to the tangent surface in contact with the guard surface and the end of the main blade.
During shaving, the blades of the blade unit receive a combination of dragging and pressing forces. The drag force is a force that is mainly parallel to the shaving surface, and the pressing force is a force that opposes the blade by the skin in a direction substantially perpendicular to the shaving surface.
For example, U.S. Pat. Nos. 4,709,477 and 4,774,765 disclose a method of mounting a blade so that the blade can move to increase both exposure and blade tangent angle as the drag force increases. Strain gauge measurements indicate that the drag force does not change substantially during shaving. Hair usually does not grow perpendicular to the skin surface, and the beard of many people is tilted downward with respect to the face. During shaving, when shaving, mainly when moving the blade towards squashing the person, the person is applying less pressure to the face than when shaving, and eventually the drag force is also low when shaving It is known that there is virtually no difference when shaving. By applying a razor to the skin surface with greater pressing force, when looking for a clean shave, a more positive blade geometry is desired under these conditions. A conventional razor having a movable blade could not cope with such pressing force.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention fills such a gap left in the prior art, and according to the present invention, against the other skin contact portions of the blade unit under the force applied to the blade edge during shaving. Provided is a safety razor blade unit having at least one blade mounted for independent movement, each blade increasing the tangent angle of the blade according to the pressing force applied to the blade during shaving It is mounted to move in the direction.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the blade unit comprises a frame, one or each blade fixedly supported by the blade support, and a blade support connected to the frame by means of a lever fulcrum. When the pressed blade moves, the fulcrum of the lever is arranged closer to the blade tip than the position where the skin contact surface in front of the blade meets the tangent surface. The fulcrum is placed in the tangent plane or close to the tangent plane. This arrangement reduces the exposure of the blade when the tangent angle of the blade is increased, and the degree changes so that the exposure of the blade decreases when the tangent angle of the blade is increased. Also, the angular displacement of the blade is very sensitive to the drag force of the blade, and the distance between the blade span, that is, the skin contact surface in front of the blade edge measured at the tangent surface, increased the tangent angle of the blade. Sometimes does not change much. It is convenient that the lever fulcrum is separated from the cutting edge by about 0.2 to 0.6 mm.
For a blade unit according to an embodiment of the present invention, the blade or blades are initially set to a minimum blade tangent angle, which increases as the pressing force increases. After all, it is more comfortable than other arrangements where the blade tangent angle is initially set to maximum.
Since the blade support is conveniently coupled to the frame, the lever is fixed with respect to the frame, but this is not essential and the degree of movement of the leverage can be controlled.
The invention will become more apparent in the following detailed description with reference to the accompanying drawings.
