Description

本発明は、注ぎ込み可能な食品が充填された包装用シート材料のチューブか、連続した密封包装体を作るための形成顎(又は形成ジョー)に関する。
より詳しくは、本発明は、注ぎ込み可能な食品の密封包装体を、前記包装用材料のチューブから連続して作る包装機械に使用することのできる形成顎(又は形成ジョー)に関する。
フルーツ・ジュース、殺菌牛乳、又はUHT(超高温処理)牛乳、ワイン、トマトジュースなど、注ぎ込み可能な多くの食品が、殺菌包装用材料からなる包装体として販売されている。
そのような包装体の代表例に、Tetra Brik Aseptic(登録商標)として知られた、液体食品又は注ぎ込み可能な食品用の平行六面体形状の包装体があるが、それは、包装用積層材料のウェブを折り曲げ、密封することによって作られる。包装用材料は、熱融着性プラスチック材料の層、例えばポリエチレンで両側が覆われた繊維材料の層、例えば、紙を含む多層構造を有する。
UHT牛乳等の長期保存食品用の無菌包装の場合、包装用材料は、酸素障壁材料の層も含み、この層は、例えばアルミニウムのシートによって形成され、熱融着性プラスチック材料の層に重ねられ、これが別の熱融着性プラスチック材料の層で覆われて、最終的に食品と接触する包装体の内側面を形成する。
公知のとおり、そのような包装体は、完全に自動化された包装機械によって作られ、そこで、連続したチューブが、ウェブから作られた包装用材料から形成される。包装用材料のウェブは、包装機械で、例えば、過酸化水素水などの化学殺菌剤を加えることによって殺菌され、殺菌後、この殺菌剤は、例えば加熱によって蒸発されて、包装用材料の表面から除去される。
そのように殺菌された包装用材料のウェブは、閉じた無菌環境内に維持され、円筒形に折り曲げられ、長手方向に密封されて、連続したチューブを形成する。包装用材料のチューブが、その軸線に平行な垂直方向に送られ、殺菌された、又は無菌処理された食品が、連続的に充填され、形成ステーションを通して送られる。その形成ステーションで、複数対の形成顎が、チューブに対して周期的に、連続的に作用して均等間隔の横断部分(cross sections)面に沿ってチューブを密封し、それぞれの横方向の密封帯、即ちチューブの軸線に直角の水平方向に延びる密封帯、によって相互に連結された枕状包装体を形成する。
より詳しくは、知られている方法によれば、各対の顎が、その底部で、包装用材料のチューブに平行な垂直案内に沿って上下移動するスライド部材にヒンジ結合され、スライド部材が上死点位置と下部死点位置の間で垂直方向に移動する際に、顎が、包装用材料のチューブの周りで実質的に「本のような様式で」開閉する。
包装用材料のチューブを横方向に密封するために、各対の顎は、チューブの両側と協働するそれぞれの密封部材を有し、それら密封部材は、例えば、包装用材料の相互に接触するプラスチック層を局所的に融解する加熱要素と、エラストマ材料から作られ、機械的支持を与えてチューブを必要な圧力で把持する1つ又は複数の押圧部材とで形成される。
より詳しくは、障壁層が導電性材料のシート、例えばアルミニウムによって形成される包装用材料は、通常、いわゆる誘導熱融着処理によって熱融着されるが、この処理では、2つの顎がチューブの周りで把持されるときに電流がアルミニウム・シートに誘導され、アルミニウム・シートを局所的に加熱して、熱融着プラスチック材料の局所的な融解をもたらす。
熱融着動作が完了すると、例えば2つの顎のうちの1つによって担持される切断部材が作動して包装用材料のチューブと相互作用し、横方向の密封帯の中心線に沿ってチューブを切断し、チューブの底端部から枕状包装体を分離する。したがって、底端部は横方向に密封されている。スライド部材が下死点位置に到達すると、顎が開いて、チューブの上部との干渉を回避し、枕状包装体は、最終段階の折り曲げステーションに送られ、そこで完成された平行六面体形状に機械的に折り曲げられる。
例えば特許出願第EP−A−1172299号に記載されかつ図示された公知の解決法では、密封部材は、各対の顎の水平バー部分によって担持され、そのバー部分の上方に、それぞれの、前開きのC字状断面の形成タブを有する。これらタブは、関連する密封部材による熱融着の後に相互に協働して、所定の形状及び容積の空洞を形成し、包装材料のチューブを取り囲み、それを長方形断面の形状に形成する。
より詳しくは、各形成タブは、端壁を備え、その端壁の両側縁から、それぞれの平行な側壁が延び、それら側壁が、他方の形成タブのそれぞれの側壁と協働して包装用材料のチューブを取り囲む。
製造中の枕状包装体への充填を制御するために、各対の形成タブのそれぞれの端壁は、それぞれの凸状部分を有し、それら凸状部分は包装体の側壁に圧力をかけ、又はそれを「絞り」、それによって、各包装体内の食品の量を制限して、各包装体の所望の重量を得る。
上記の包装体充填制御システムは、全体としてかなり効果的ではあるが、依然としてさらなる改良の余地が残されている。
特に、小型、即ち側壁の面積が小さい包装体の場合、所望の絞り効果を生じるためには、関連する形成タブの端壁に対して鋭く突出した凸状部分を使用しなければならず、それにより、包装体が、許容できない形状に形成されることがある。また、鋭く突出した凸状部分を使用しても、包装体の所望の重量は保証されない。
本発明の目的は、包装用シート材料のチューブから連続した密封包装体を作るための形成顎であって、上記した欠点に対する直接的かつ低コストの解決法を提供するように設計された形成顎を提供することにある。
本発明によれば、注ぎ込み可能な食品が充填され、長手方向の軸線に平行な方向に送られる包装用シート材料のチューブから連続した密封包装体を作るための形成顎であって、前記チューブの横断部分(cross section)を密封する密封手段と、前記チューブの、2つの連続した密封横断部分間に所定の形状を与える形成手段とを備え、その形成手段が、チューブの軸線に対して横方向及び平行方向にそれぞれ延びて前記チューブと相互作用する第1及び第2表面を備えている形成顎において、前記第1表面が、形成中の包装体へ圧力を加えてその包装体の充填を制御する凸状部分を備えることを特徴とする形成顎が提供される。
本発明の、2つの好ましい、限定されない実施例を、添付図面を参照して説明する。
図1の符号1は、殺菌牛乳又はUHT牛乳、フルーツ・ジュース、ワインなどの注ぎ込み可能な食品の連続した密封包装体2を作る形成ステーションを全体的に示している。
より詳しくは、ステーション1は、包装用シート材料のチューブ3から包装体2を連続的に作るための(図示しない)包装機械に組み込みこむことができる。
包装用材料は、(図示しない)多層構造を有し、ポリエチレン等の熱融着性プラスチック材料の層で両側が覆われた繊維材料の層、通常は紙を備える。UHT牛乳などの長期保存製品用の無菌包装の場合、包装用材料は、アルミニウムシート等の酸素障壁材料の層も含み、この層が熱融着性プラスチック材料の層に重ねられ、これが別の熱融着性プラスチック材料の層で覆われて、最終的に食品と接触する包装体の内側面を形成する。
チューブ3は、公知の方法で熱融着シート材料のウェブを長手方向に折り曲げて密封することによってステーション1の上流で形成され、包装用の殺菌された又は無菌処理された食品がそれに充填され、(図示しない)公知の手段によって長手方向軸線Aに平行な垂直方向に送られる。
例えば特許出願第EP−A−1172299号から知られている通り、ステーション1は、チューブ3と相互作用して、それを、均等間隔の断面で熱融着して、それぞれの横方向密封帯4によって相互に垂直方向に連結された枕状包装体2を作る。より詳しくは、ステーション1は、各密封帯4を、(図示しない)2つの平行な密封線に沿って熱融着し、次いでそれらの線の間で密封帯4を公知の方法で切断して包装体2を分離する。
図2に部分的に示すとおり、ステーション1で作られる枕状包装体2は、それぞれが、完成された包装体(図示実施例では平行六面体の包装体)と同じ形状及び容積の主部分5と、主部分5をそれぞれの隣接する密封帯4に連結する移行部分6とを備える。各移行部分6は、軸線Aに対して横方向に延びて僅かに傾斜する2つのパネル7によって形成され、関連する主部分5と共に平坦化された実質的に三角形の空洞部分を形成し、また各移行部分6は共通縁部を有し、そこから関連する密封帯4が突出する。(図示しない)後続の折り曲げステーションで、各枕状包装体2の移行部分6が、関連する主部分5の上に折り曲げられ、それによって、各移行部分6のパネル7が平坦化されて、完成包装体の端壁を形成するようになる。
図1を特に参照すると、ステーション1は、公知の態様で、チューブ3に対して周期的かつ連続的に作用する2対の顎10a、10bを備える(一方の対のみしか図示せず、以下に詳記しない)。
各対の顎10a、10bは、その底部で、関連するスライド部材11にヒンジ結合され、スライド部材11は、包装用材料のチューブ3に平行な垂直案内12に沿って上下移動する、より詳しくは、各対の顎10a、10bは、チューブ3の軸線Aを通る垂直平面Pの両側に対称形に延在し、それぞれの水平軸線Bの周りで関連するスライド部材11にヒンジ結合されて、スライド部材11が上下移動するにつれて、チューブ3の周りで実質的に「本のような様式で」開閉する。
案内12は、チューブ3の径方向の両側に位置し、平面Pに対して直角でチューブ3の軸線Aを通る(図示しない)平面に関して対称形に位置決めされる。
2対の顎10a、10bは、包装用材料のチューブ3と交互に相互作用し、均等間隔の横断部分(cross sections)に沿ってチューブ3を把持し、それを熱融着する。各スライド部材11の上下移動、及び顎10a、10bの開閉移動は、複数対の垂直ロッドを備え、ロータリ・カム又はサーボモータによって制御される作動アセンブリ(図示しない)によって公知の態様(本発明の明確な理解のために必要でないためにここでは述べない)で制御される。
各顎10a、10bは、実質的に四角形プレートの形態の本体15を実質的に備え、本体15は、底端部の付近で関連するスライド部材11にヒンジ結合され、前記作動アセンブリと協働するそれぞれの突出した作動アーム16を支持する。
各顎10a、10bは、それぞれの本体15の頂端部に固定されたそれぞれの支持アーム17を備え、それら支持アームは、本体15からそれぞれの軸線Bに平行な方向に突出して、チューブ3の両側に位置している。
各顎10a、10bの支持アーム17の突出部分には、チューブ3と相互作用するそれぞれの密封部材18、19(図示実施例では、平行六面体形状のバーの形態である)が取り付けられている。図示されているように、密封部材18には、例えば、2つの真直ぐな水平作用表面21を有する誘導子20を組み込むことができる。その誘導子は、包装用材料のアルミニウム層で電流を発生させ、包装用材料の相互に接触するプラスチック層に対して局所的なジュール効果溶解を生じる。また、密封部材19には、エラストマ材料から作られた圧力パッド22を組み込むことができる。その圧力パッドは、誘導子20の作用表面21でチューブ3を必要な圧力で把持するための機械的支持体となる。
顎10a、10bの支持アーム17には、各密封部材18、19の上方に、前開きでC字状断面の形成タブ23が取り付けられ、これらタブが、関連する密封部材18、19による横方向の密封に続いて、相互に協働して所定の形状及び容積の空洞を形成し、チューブ3を取り囲んで、それを長方形断面の構成へと形成する
より詳しくは、各顎10a、10bの形成タブ23は、端壁24を備え、その両側縁部から、それぞれの平行な側壁25が延び、それら側壁が、他方の顎10b、10aの形成タブ23のそれぞれの側壁25と協働して、包装用材料のチューブ3を取り囲む。
したがって各形成タブ23はそれぞれ、チューブ3と相互作用する、チューブ3の軸線Aと平行な方向へ延びる表面26を画定する。
製造中の枕状包装体2への充填を制御するために、各対の形成タブ23の表面26には、端壁24に、凸状部分27が有利に設けられ、それら凸状部分27が、包装体2の主部分5の対向両壁を押圧し、又はそれを絞る。
本発明の重要な特徴は、各顎10a、10bが、表面29から突出する付加的な凸状部分28をも有しており、その凸状部分が、関連する密封部材18、19の境界部になっており、軸線Aに対して横方向に延び、関連する形成タブ23の反対側に面することである。即ち、表面29は、チューブ3の移動方向において、各密封部材18、19の最も下流の部分になっている。
各包装体2を形成する時、各対の顎10a、10bの凸状部分28が、関連する密封部材18、19で密封中の移行部分6のそれぞれのパネル7を押圧し、他方対の顎10a、10bの凸状部分27が包装体2の主部分5に及ぼす作用と協働して、包装体2を絞り、包装体内の食品の量を制限し、そのようにして、ステーション1、ひいては包装機械から出る各包装体2の重量を制御する。
図4に示す本発明の異なる実施例によれば、本明細書にその一部として組み込まれる欧州特許出願第EP−A−0887263号に開示されかつ記載されたタイプの、全体として符号1’で示された、チェーン状成形ユニット又はステーションに、凸状部分28がそれぞれに設けられた密封部材18、19を、有利に組み込むことができる。
特に、公知のとおり、ステーション1’は、本質的に、それぞれが第1及び第2顎10a’、10b(そのうちの一方の対しかここでは示さない)を有する一対のチェーンコンベヤ30、31を備え、それらの顎は、それぞれの密封部材18、19を担持し、互いに協働して、軸線Aに沿って送られる包装用材料のチューブ3と相互作用する。
コンベア30、31は、それぞれの顎10a’、10b’がそこに沿って送られるそれぞれの無端経路Q及びRを形成し、無端経路Q及びRは、軸Aの両側で延びている。
各コンベア30、31は、(ここでは部分的にしか示さない)間接結合された鎖状体32を備え、それら鎖状体は関連する経路Q及びRに沿って延び、それら鎖状体のリンクは各顎10a’、10b’によって形成される。
密封部材18、19は、それぞれの顎10a’、10b’の一体的部分にしても、それらに固定してもよい。
顎10a、10bに関して上記しかつ図示したのと同様に、顎10a’、10b’の頂部に形成タブ23を設けることができる。
本発明による形成顎10a、10b、10a’、10b’の利点は、以上の記載から明らかであろう。
特に、形成タブ23の凸状部分27に加えて、各対の形成顎10、10b、10a’、10b’の密封部材18、19の表面29に凸状部分28を設けることは、包装体の形状を損なわずに、形成中の包装体2の絞り圧力及び最終重量を正確に制御することを可能にする。これは、主として、追加の凸状部分28によるもので、その凸状部分28は、形成タブ23に鋭くない突出した凸状部分27を使用することを可能にし、このようにして、小さな包装体の側壁と相互作用する凸状部分27の悪影響を解消する。
本明細書に記載しかつ図示した形成顎10a、10b、10a’、10b’に、特許請求の範囲から逸脱することなく、変更を施すことができることは明らかである。

Claims (7)

  1. 注ぎ込み可能な食品が充填され、長手方向軸線(A)に平行な移動方向に送られる包装用シート材料のチューブ(3)から連続した密封包装体(2)を作るための形成顎(10a、10b、10a’、10b’)であって、前記形成顎(10a、10b、10a’、10b’)が、前記チューブ(3)の横断部分を密封する密封手段(18、19)と、前記チューブ(3)の、2つの連続した密封横断部分の間所定の形状を与える形成手段(26、29)とを備え、前記形成手段が、前記チューブ(3)の軸線(A)に対して横方向及び平行方向にそれぞれ延びて前記チューブ(3)と相互作用する第1及び第2表面(29、26)を備えるとともに、所定の形状及び容積の空洞を形成し、前記チューブ(3)を取り囲んでそれを所定の形状に形成する形成タブ(23)を備えており、前記第1表面(29)が、形成中の包装体(2)へ圧力を加えてその包装体の充填を制御する第1凸状部分(28)を有し、該第1凸状部分(28)が、前記第1表面(29)から前記形成タブ(23)の反対側へ突出し、前記チューブ3の移動方向にみて前記密封手段(18、19)の最も下流の部分になっていることを特徴とする形成顎
  2. 前記第2表面(26)が、形成中の包装体(2)に圧力を加える第2凸状部分(27)を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の形成顎。
  3. 前記密封手段が、前記チューブ(3)の密封のために前記横断部分と相互作用する把持部分(18、19)を備え、該把持部分の、前記チューブ(3)の移動方向の下流部分に、前記第1凸状部分(28)が突出する前記第1表面(29)が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の形成顎。
  4. 前記把持部分(18)が、前記チューブ(3)の包装材料を局所的に加熱する加熱手段(20)を備えていることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の形成顎。
