BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a steering apparatus in which the steering shaft and a steering column that supports the steering shaft are shortened in the axial direction by impact energy of a secondary collision applied to the steering shaft at the time of a vehicle collision.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Vehicle steering is performed by applying a steering torque applied to a steering wheel arranged inside the passenger compartment to a steering mechanism arranged outside the passenger compartment for steering steering wheels (generally, front wheels). Done. A steering device for performing such steering is provided with a steering wheel attached to an upper end portion of a steering shaft rotatably supported in a passenger compartment so as to face a driver, and a lower end of the steering shaft. The part is connected to the steering mechanism via an intermediate shaft.
[0003]
In such a steering device, in recent years, the steering shaft and the steering shaft are reduced for the purpose of reducing damage to a driver who collides with the steering wheel (secondary collision) due to inertia in the traveling direction at the time of frontal collision of the vehicle. In many cases, a cylindrical steering column that supports a steering shaft inside is configured to be shortenable in the axial direction by the action of impact energy associated with the secondary collision.
[0004]
A shortenable steering column generally includes an inner cylinder and an outer cylinder fitted inside and outside for an appropriate length, and these cylinders increase the fitting length of each other when the impact energy is applied. However, it is comprised so that it may shorten, for example (refer patent document 1).
[0005]
However, in the steering column configured in this way, the length that can be shortened is limited, and when the acting force accompanying the secondary collision is applied in a direction inclined with respect to the axial length direction, the inner cylinder In order to make smooth and stable shortening, there is a problem that “squeezing” occurs in the fitting part of the outer cylinder and smooth shortening is not made, and the reaction force applied to the driver colliding with the steering wheel becomes large. In addition, it is necessary to take measures such as interposing balls in the fitting portions of the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder, resulting in a problem that the structure is complicated and man-hours are required for assembly.
[0006]
In order to solve such a problem, the applicant of the present application separately forms a steering column that supports the steering shaft into an upper column on the steering wheel mounting side and a lower column on the connection side to the steering mechanism. A steering device is proposed in which a column and a lower column are connected by a bending plate that can be bent by a bending line that is substantially orthogonal to the axial direction of each column (see, for example, Patent Document 2).
[0007]
In this steering device, when an impact due to a secondary collision is applied, the separated upper column and the lower column move relative to each other in a direction approaching each other with the bending deformation of the bending plate, and the upper column And the total length of the steering column constituted by the lower column is shortened. Therefore, it can be used as a length that can shorten the separation distance that can be initially secured between the upper column and the lower column, and the reaction force applied to the driver colliding with the steering wheel is only the deformation resistance of the bending plate. It is difficult to be influenced by the direction of the acting force accompanying the secondary collision, and a stable shortening operation can be performed with a simple configuration.

Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 10-338147
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the steering device disclosed in
[0010]
In addition, when a rigid bending plate is used to solve this problem, resistance to bending deformation at the time of secondary collision increases, reaction force applied to the driver via the steering wheel increases, and desired shock absorption is achieved. There is a possibility that the function cannot be performed, and there is a problem that it is difficult to obtain satisfactory performance in both the support rigidity and the shock absorption.
[0011]
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and by improving the configuration of the bending plate that connects the separated upper column and lower column, the support rigidity is enhanced and the stable shortening operation at the time of the secondary collision is achieved. An object of the present invention is to provide a steering device that can achieve both of the above.
[0012]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
A steering device according to the present invention supports a steering shaft that communicates between a steering wheel and a steering mechanism, inside a steering column that is configured to be separated into an upper column on the steering wheel side and a lower column on the steering mechanism side, In the steering apparatus in which the upper column and the lower column are connected by a bending plate that can be bent by a bending line that is substantially orthogonal to these axes, the bending plate is connected to each of the upper column and the lower column. The first and second connecting plates are connected to each other by separate hinge pins that are press-fitted into positions where they should be bent lines.
[0013]
In the present invention, due to the action of the impact force accompanying the secondary collision, the upper column and the lower column constituting the steering column are relatively moved in the axial direction along with the bending deformation of the bending plate connecting them. Shorten. Bending plate, to each of the upper column and the lower column, the first, the second connecting plate, and perylene binding by the hinge pin that is press-fitted to the shaft and substantially perpendicular to the orientation of both the column and further first, second The connecting plates are connected by hinge pins press-fitted in the same direction , and the bending due to the impact force acts as a bend line, and the friction pins of each hinge pin are subjected to frictional resistance. As a result, the support rigidity of the steering column is increased, and the shortening of the steering column can occur stably without being influenced by the direction of the acting force.
