Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a toroidal continuously variable transmission used as a transmission for an automobile, for example.
[0002]
[Prior art]
For example, a toroidal continuously variable transmission used as a transmission for an automobile is known, for example, in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 8-35549. In the double cavity toroidal continuously variable transmission, a power roller that transmits power by friction between a pair of input disks and a pair of output disks that are coaxially arranged on a power transmission shaft is capable of tilting and rolling. The front-side variator and rear-side variator thus made are the main components.
[0003]
In addition, a loading cam is provided on the input side of the power transmission shaft to press both input disks against both output disks via a power roller, and further, preload is applied to both input disks toward the corresponding output disks. A mechanism is provided.
[0004]
The rotation transmitted from the input side to the loading cam is transmitted to both input disks of the front side and rear side variator, and is transmitted from both input disks to both output disks via the power roller by friction engagement.
[0005]
During this power transmission, the thrust corresponding to the transmission torque from the loading cam to both input disks narrows the power roller of each variator between the corresponding input and output disks with the force corresponding to the transmission torque, ensuring frictional engagement. This ensures power transmission.
[0006]
In addition, the input disk does not receive thrust from the loading cam before starting the power transmission, but at the beginning of this transmission, the preload mechanism performs the initial pressing of the power roller to cause the friction engagement, and the initial transmission is performed. It is possible.
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the conventional toroidal continuously variable transmission described above constitutes a preload mechanism, and a bearing that receives relative rotation between the power transmission shaft and the loading cam, and a preload disc spring are arranged in the axial direction of the power transmission shaft. . Therefore, the space efficiency in the axial direction of the power transmission shaft is poor, which causes an increase in size.
[0008]
Further, when the input torque increases and the torque that the roller of the loading cam rides on the cam surface is applied, the preload disc spring is crushed, and the stress applied to the preload disc spring increases. If such a phenomenon is repeated, the preload disc spring will sag, resulting in insufficient preload. As a result, slip occurs between the input / output disk and the power roller, and power transmission becomes impossible.
[0009]
The present invention has been made paying attention to the above circumstances, and the object of the present invention is to dispose a preload disc spring and a bearing constituting the preload mechanism in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the power transmission shaft. An object of the present invention is to provide a toroidal continuously variable transmission that can be reduced in size, can generate a stable preload even when a large torque is input, and can improve reliability.
[0010]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a power transmission shaft, an input disk and an output disk arranged coaxially with the power transmission shaft, and a tiltable rotation between the input disk and the output disk. A toroidal continuously variable transmission comprising a contacted power roller, a loading cam that presses the input disk against the output disk via the power roller, and a preload mechanism that applies a preload toward the corresponding output disk. In the apparatus, the preload mechanism includes a preload disc spring that applies preload and a bearing that receives relative rotation between the power transmission shaft and the loading cam, and the preload disc spring and the bearing are arranged in the axial direction of the power transmission shaft. place at a right angle against the preload disk spring and the bearing which constitutes a preload mechanism, the back of the front flange portion provided on the power transmission shaft said loading cam Place the annular gap portion provided between the, characterized in that the input torque is a gap of the preload disk spring when zero was set larger than the gap of the back and the bearing of the loading cam [0012]
According to claim 1, the space efficiency in the axial direction of the power transmission shaft can be increased by arranging the preload disc spring and the bearing constituting the preload mechanism in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the power transmission shaft, The size of the apparatus can be reduced.
[0013]
According to the first aspect of the present invention, the preload disc spring and the bearing constituting the preload mechanism are arranged in the annular gap on the outer periphery of the power transmission shaft, and the clearance of the preload disc spring when the input torque is zero is set in the loading cam. By setting it larger than the gap between the back and the bearing, it is possible to prevent the preload disc spring from being crushed and to increase the number of torque fluctuations and to generate more stable preload even when large torque is input. .
