BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical disk apparatus inspection method, and more particularly to an orthogonality inspection method for an optical disk apparatus having a radial tilt correction mechanism.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, recording / reproduction information has been increased in density in optical disk drives. With such a high density, it has become necessary to reduce the laser spot diameter on the media side, so an objective lens used for the pickup has a high NA. In such an optical system, there is a problem that the aberration of the optical system increases when a tilt between the medium and the optical axis of the optical system occurs as compared with the conventional optical system. As a result, this aberration appears as noise in the modulation / demodulation circuit of the drive. When the aberration becomes large, normal drive operation cannot be performed. For this reason, in recent years, the number of optical disk devices provided with tilt correction means has increased. This is an optical disc apparatus having either a radial or tangential tilt correction mechanism, and with respect to tilt in a direction not having a correction mechanism, for example, in order to achieve the best performance of the drive in the process, for example, Using an RF signal or the like, adjustment is made so that the light beam strikes the information recording medium substantially perpendicularly.
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 7, the end of the pivot shaft that is the rotation fulcrum of the tilt correction mechanism does not necessarily have an ideal cylindrical or spherical shape as part accuracy. There is a possibility of tilting in the direction that you do not want. Even if the inclination is adjusted to the optimum position in the process, it always works in the direction of deteriorating the recording / reproducing performance of the drive. Therefore, a large inclination exceeding a predetermined part accuracy cannot be allowed.
Here, if we consider the case of measuring the amount of tangential tilt generated by the movement of the radial tilt mechanism, it is difficult to measure separately from the radial and tangential directions when observed from an external measurement system. There are many. For example, when the radial tilt correction mechanism is operated while measuring the tilt of the seek rail with a collimator, it is measured that the bright spot of the collimator moves in the radial direction with that operation. It cannot be measured whether or not it contains a certain tangential direction component.
[0003]
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 9-320214 discloses an optical disk apparatus and a guide shaft adjusting method that can simplify adjustment by using an adjusting member having one degree of freedom and facilitate adjustment. Yes. According to this, in an optical disc apparatus having a pickup head for reproducing or recording a signal by irradiating a laser beam to the optical disc, the first guide shaft and the second guide shaft for guiding the pickup head in the radial direction of the optical disc. And a parallel holding portion that keeps the first guide shaft and the second guide shaft parallel to each other in a radial direction, and the rotation by applying a rotational moment to a rotation axis perpendicular to the optical disc, and the rotation An adjustment member that receives the first guide shaft and the second guide shaft, each having a bearing portion that is provided with an inclination in the circumferential direction around the shaft, and in which the distance between the optical disk and the bearing surface can be continuously changed. It has been realized.
Japanese Laid-Open Patent Publication No. 2001-236719 discloses an optical disc that can perform tilt adjustment accurately in a short time regardless of the degree of variation in tilt-jitter characteristics of products in a tilt adjustment method for adjusting the tilt so as to minimize the jitter level. A device tilt adjustment method is disclosed. According to this, when an appropriate jitter level cannot be measured only by measuring a predetermined tilt measurement point set in advance, the jitter measurement is automatically repeated by shifting the tilt measurement point by a preset shift amount. Thus, the jitter minimum tilt position is finally calculated.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
As one method for solving the problem of the tangential direction component in the radial tilt correction mechanism, it is conceivable to fix the chassis to a precise jig and obtain the radial and tangential directions according to the precision of the jig. However, in this method, it is necessary to precisely position the drive as a measurement target and the collimator as a measurement device with respect to the jig, and thus a very large and expensive jig is required. Therefore, conventionally, it has been common to configure the rotating shaft with very strict dimensional accuracy so that such unnecessary inclination does not occur. In addition, it is not easy to detect such a tilt simply and inexpensively for the reasons described above.
JP-A-9-320214 requires a linear gauge for biaxial parallel adjustment, and the equipment for adjustment is not always simple. Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2001-236719 takes a jitter level by a jitter meter and finally calculates a jitter minimum tilt position, so that the equipment for adjustment is not always simple as described above.
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide an inspection method for detecting an unnecessary tilt such as a tilt in a tangential direction accompanying a radial tilt correction operation without using a highly accurate jig. And
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention provides a method for inspecting an optical disc apparatus provided with a radial correction mechanism for correcting a radial inclination between an information recording medium and an optical axis of an optical system. Includes a fixed chassis that fixes the optical system, a rotating chassis that is separated from the fixed chassis and moves in a radial direction, and an actuator that is fixed to the rotating chassis and performs tracking and focusing operations of the optical system. A plurality of guide shafts, and a tangential correction mechanism that tilts the rotating chassis in a tangential direction. A reflecting mirror is mounted at a predetermined position of any one of the plurality of guide shafts, and the radial correction mechanism Tangential generated when the radial inclination of the guide shaft is corrected The inclination of the direction, the reflector the light Irradiate However, whether or not the locus of the bright spot generated when the radial inclination is corrected by the radial correction mechanism and the locus of the bright spot when the inclination is given in the tangential direction by the tangential correction mechanism are orthogonal to each other. Depending on It is characterized by detecting.
In an optical disc apparatus having a radial correction mechanism, a rotating chassis is set so that a laser spot is applied from a pickup of an optical system to a recording medium set in a spindle motor and its optical axis is perpendicular to the recording medium. It is automatically corrected by tilting in the radial direction. However, since the optical pickup is not necessarily mounted in the manufacturing process, as an alternative inspection method, a guide shaft for seeking the optical pickup is used, and a mirror is mounted on the guide shaft. When measuring with a collimator, collimated light from the collimator is applied to the mirror, and if parallel, the reflected light returns to parallel. However, if tilted, the reflected light moves in proportion to the tilt amount. By measuring the trajectory of the moving light, it is possible to detect the tangential tilt that occurs when the radial tilt of the guide shaft is corrected.
According to this invention, a reflecting mirror is mounted at a predetermined position on one of the two guide shafts, and the inclination in the tangential direction generated when the radial inclination of the guide shaft is corrected by the radial correction mechanism is measured. In this case, by measuring the locus of the bright spot of the light applied to the reflecting mirror, it is possible to detect the inclination in the tangential direction that occurs when correcting the inclination in the radial direction with a simple configuration and at a low cost. .
[0007]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided an inspection method for an optical disc apparatus including a radial correction mechanism that corrects a radial inclination between an information recording medium and an optical axis of the optical system. The optical disc apparatus includes: a fixed chassis that fixes the optical system; A rotating chassis that is separated from the fixed chassis and is movable in a radial direction; a plurality of guide shafts that are fixed to the rotating chassis and slide an actuator that performs tracking and focusing operations of the optical system; and the rotating chassis A tangential correction mechanism that tilts the guide shaft in a tangential direction, and a reflector is mounted at a predetermined position of the rotating chassis, and the tangier generated when the radial correction mechanism corrects the radial tilt of the guide shaft. The tilt in the local direction is applied to the reflector. the light Irradiate However, whether or not the locus of the bright spot generated when the radial inclination is corrected by the radial correction mechanism and the locus of the bright spot when the inclination is given in the tangential direction by the tangential correction mechanism are orthogonal to each other. Depending on It is characterized by detecting.
As another method, a method in which a mirror is mounted on the surface of the rotating chassis can be considered. This is because the support member such as the rotating chassis supports the guide shaft of the optical pickup, and thus generally has a high flatness in order to avoid the inclination of the optical axis due to the seek operation. For this reason, this plane can be used as a measurement jig.
According to this invention, the mirror is mounted at a predetermined position of the rotating chassis, and the inclination of the tangential direction that occurs when the radial inclination of the guide shaft is corrected by the radial correction mechanism, the brightness of the light applied to the mirror is increased. Since the point trajectory is measured, the measurement jig can be designed relatively easily.
[0008]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for inspecting an optical disc apparatus including a radial correction mechanism that corrects a radial inclination between an information recording medium and an optical axis of the optical system. The optical disc apparatus includes a fixed chassis that fixes the optical system; A rotating chassis that is separated from the fixed chassis and movable in a radial direction, a plurality of guide shafts that are fixed to the rotating chassis and that slide an actuator that performs tracking and focusing operations of the optical system, and the rotating chassis. A tangential correction mechanism that tilts in the tangential direction, and includes a reflecting mirror mounted between the plurality of guide shafts, and the tangential direction generated when the radial correction mechanism corrects the radial tilt of the guide shaft. The tilt of the the light Irradiate However, whether or not the locus of the bright spot generated when the radial inclination is corrected by the radial correction mechanism and the locus of the bright spot when the inclination is given in the tangential direction by the tangential correction mechanism are orthogonal to each other. Depending on It is characterized by detecting.
As another method, a method of mounting a mirror so as to straddle two guide shafts can be considered. In this method, measurement is performed by placing a measurement mirror on two guide shafts.
According to this invention, the mirror is mounted so as to straddle the two guide shafts, and the tangential tilt generated when the radial correction mechanism corrects the tilt of the guide shaft in the radial direction is used to irradiate the mirror with the light. By measuring the locus of the bright spot, it is possible to evaluate the inclination of the optical pickup more directly. Moreover, it becomes possible to evaluate more accurately by setting the portion supporting the optical pickup and the portion supporting the measurement mirror in the same place.
[0009]
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for inspecting an optical disc apparatus including a radial correction mechanism that corrects a radial inclination between an information recording medium and an optical axis of the optical system. A tangential correction mechanism that tilts in the tangential direction, and includes a reflecting mirror mounted on the optical system, and a tilt in the tangential direction that occurs when the radial correction mechanism corrects the radial tilt of the guide shaft. To the reflector the light Irradiate However, whether or not the locus of the bright spot generated when the radial inclination is corrected by the radial correction mechanism and the locus of the bright spot when the inclination is given in the tangential direction by the tangential correction mechanism are orthogonal to each other. Depending on It is characterized by detecting.
As another method, a method of mounting a mirror on an optical pickup for measurement can be considered. This is the state that is closest to the actual configuration, and is a method that reduces errors in measurement and in actuality. For example, a small measuring mirror or the like is attached at an arbitrary position on the optical pickup. At this time, the initial tilt does not matter, but it is fixed so that there is no change in the mirror angle during the measurement. In this state, the inclination is measured using a collimator or the like.
According to this invention, the mirror is mounted on the optical pickup, and the inclination of the tangential direction that occurs when the radial correction mechanism corrects the radial inclination of the guide shaft, the locus of the bright spot of the light irradiated on the mirror is detected. Therefore, it is possible to evaluate the occurrence of unnecessary tilt when the tilt correction mechanism operates most directly, including the engagement between the guide shaft and the optical pickup.
According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for inspecting an optical disc apparatus including a radial correction mechanism that corrects a radial inclination between an information recording medium and an optical axis of the optical system. The optical disc apparatus includes: a fixed chassis that fixes the optical system; A rotating chassis that is separated from the fixed chassis and movable in a radial direction, a plurality of guide shafts that are fixed to the rotating chassis and that slide an actuator that performs tracking and focusing operations of the optical system, and the rotating chassis. A tangential correction mechanism that tilts in the tangential direction, and the optical system is configured to detect a tangential tilt that occurs when the radial correction mechanism corrects the radial tilt of the guide shaft. The locus of bright spots generated when the radial tilt is corrected by the radial correction mechanism and the tilt in the tangential direction by the tangential correction mechanism. Depending on whether or not the locus of the bright spot is perpendicular to each other It is characterized by detecting.
As another method, a method of measuring using a reflective surface on the optical pickup can be considered. This is because various optical elements are mounted on the optical pickup, and by using these, it is possible to perform measurement without newly mounting a measurement mirror. For example, the edge portion of the objective lens can be used as a mirror.
According to this invention, the trajectory of the bright spot of the light irradiated on the surface capable of reflecting the light on the optical pickup is determined based on the tangential inclination generated when the radial correction mechanism corrects the radial inclination of the guide shaft. Therefore, it is possible to evaluate the occurrence of unnecessary tilt when the tilt correction mechanism operates reliably and inexpensively.
[0011]
Claim 6 Is the tangential correction mechanism Locus of bright spot when tilted in tangential direction by The vector in the tangential direction by a is a, and the radial correction mechanism Locus of bright spots generated when the radial tilt is corrected by Where b is the vector in the radial direction by calculating the orthogonal product of the tangential direction and the radial direction by calculating the inner product of a · b.
If the vector is normalized, it is possible to determine from the inner product value whether or not the mechanism has an excessively large occurrence of an unnecessary gradient. If the adjustment axis and the tilt correction mechanism axis are not exactly orthogonal in design, the vector obtained by normalizing the above vector or using the inner product value after normalization is obtained. The method can be applied by calculating the inner product after rotating one of the two. This method can be easily applied even when the vector {a} in the direction of the adjustment axis and the rotation axis {b} of the tilt correction mechanism are obtained using another measuring device.
According to this technical means, the tangential direction and the radial direction are calculated by calculating the inner product of a · b, where a is a vector in the tangential direction by the tangential correction mechanism and b is a vector in the radial direction by the radial correction mechanism. Therefore, the orthogonality can be determined numerically.
Claim 7 Does not perform the operation when either the tangential correction mechanism or the radial correction mechanism is operated. One of Of the correction mechanism The angle between the fixed chassis and the rotating chassis in the correction direction is The inspection is performed at a position that is substantially horizontal.
In the case of tilting in a radial or tangential manner, the other side is measured to be approximately horizontal. For example, when the tangential direction is horizontal, a trajectory that is proportional to the angle is drawn through the origin in a range where the angle in the radial direction is very small. However, if the tangential direction is not horizontal, the locus of the bright spot draws a curve and becomes a curve, resulting in an error in determining orthogonality when performing the calculation as shown in the method of claim 7. , It will cause a mistake in the determination. It becomes possible to measure accurately by making it substantially horizontal.
According to such a technical means, when tilting in a radial or tangential manner, measurement is performed with the other being substantially horizontal, so that the orthogonality can be accurately measured.
