Description
更に前記受光回路は、入射する光量に応じて該発光素子に流れる光リーク電流を該増幅部に取り入れる入力スイッチと、取り入れた光リーク電流を増幅して得られた受光信号を該増幅部から信号線に読み出す出力スイッチとを含み、該入力スイッチと出力スイッチは互いに独立したタイミングでオンオフ制御可能にしている。具体的には前記受光回路は、該発光回路が動作している間該入力スイッチ及び出力スイッチをともにオフし、該発光回路が動作しなくなった時先ず該入力スイッチをオンして該増幅部に対する光リーク電流の供給を開始し、次に該光リーク電流の供給が安定した時点で該出力スイッチをオンする。

ここでk1はTFT2Kのサイズファクタ、Vth1はTFT2Kの閾値電圧を表わす。又、k2はTFT2Lのサイズファクタを、Vth2はTFT2Lの閾値電圧を表わす。又、VgはTFT2K及びTFT2Lのゲート電圧を表わす。

一画素内でTFT特性が均一だとすると、(3)式は(4)式の様に簡略化される。
I2=k2・((I1/k1)1/2+Vb1−Vb2)2・・・(4)式
上式から、I2は受光時EL電流I1の単調増加関数で表わされることが分かる。
ここで、図2を参照して説明した様に、有機EL素子のアノード・カソード間電圧Vakが負の場合、有機EL素子には光励起によるキャリア発生が生じ、この結果光電流Ipが流れる。Ipは入射光量に対してほぼ線形的に比例する。従って、(4)式でI1=Ipと置くと、以下の(5)式が得られる。

この式から明らかな様に、受光電流I2は受光時光量の単調増加関数となり光検出が画素単位で可能となる。又、受光電流I2は、TFT2KとTFT2Lのサイズファクタ及びバイアス電源Vb1,Vb2の電圧を変化させることで適宜調整可能である。すなわち、これらのパラメータを調節することで、TFT2KとTFT2Lで構成されるカレントミラー回路の増幅率を適宜設定できる。
Claims (3)
- 走査線の列と、信号線の列と、各走査線と各信号線が交差する部分にマトリクス状に配された画素とを備え、
各画素は、有機EL素子からなる発光素子と、薄膜トランジスタで構成された発光回路と、同じく薄膜トランジスタで構成された受光回路とを含み、
前記発光回路は、該走査線により選択された時該信号線から入力された映像信号を受け入れ、発光制御線から入力された制御信号に応じて該発光素子を駆動し、以ってマトリクス状の画素に映像を表示し、
前記受光回路は、該発光回路が動作していないときに選択され、受光出力制御線から入力した別の制御信号に応じて該発光回路とは独立したタイミングで動作し、画素に入射する光量に応じた受光信号を別の信号線に出力するものであり、
前記受光回路は、該画素の表面に形成された該発光素子に入射する光量を検出して、対応する受光信号を出力するものであり、
前記受光回路は、該発光素子を逆バイアスの状態にリセットするリセット部と、逆バイアスの状態のもとで入射する光量に応じて該発光素子に流れる光リーク電流を増幅して受光信号を生成する増幅部とを含むことを特徴とする
アクティブマトリクス型有機EL表示装置。 - 前記受光回路は、入射する光量に応じて該発光素子に流れる光リーク電流を該増幅部に取り入れる入力スイッチと、取り入れた光リーク電流を増幅して得られた受光信号を該増幅部から信号線に読み出す出力スイッチとを含み、該入力スイッチと出力スイッチは互いに独立したタイミングでオンオフ制御可能にしたことを特徴とする請求項1記載のアクティブマトリクス型有機EL表示装置。
- 前記受光回路は、該発光回路が動作している間該入力スイッチ及び出力スイッチをともにオフし、該発光回路が動作しなくなった時先ず該入力スイッチをオンして該増幅部に対する光リーク電流の供給を開始し、次に該光リーク電流の供給が安定した時点で該出力スイッチをオンすることを特徴とする請求項2記載のアクティブマトリクス型有機EL表示装置。
