Description
The present invention relates to an inorganic-organic hybrid material and a method for producing the material.
Currently, fluorine-containing ion exchange membranes (commercially available under trade names such as “Nafion” and “Flemion”), which are widely used as materials for fuel cells, are organic polymer membranes, so they have sufficient heat resistance. In addition, it is difficult to use at high temperatures above 80 ℃. Considering the improvement in the energy efficiency of the entire fuel cell system, 100% can be used to effectively use the waste heat generated during power generation.
Development of materials that can be used at temperatures up to ~ 150 ° C is eagerly desired. In the fluorine-containing ion exchange membrane, water molecules move from the fuel electrode to the air electrode together with protons. Therefore, moisture management is important for ensuring stable output. As a moisture management method, a method of including water in hydrogen gas, a method of using water generated in the battery, a method of managing while maintaining high humidity inside the battery, and the like are adopted. However, from the viewpoint of simplification of the moisture management device of the fuel cell system and energy efficiency, the advent of a polymer solid electrolyte with easy moisture management is awaited.
SiO 2 —P 2 O 5 glass has been proposed as an inorganic solid electrolyte that can be used at high temperatures (Non-Patent Document 1). However, since this solid electrolyte is composed only of an inorganic substance, it has a drawback that it lacks flexibility and is brittle.

For example, when manufacturing a fuel cell using the inorganic-organic hybrid material of the present invention as a solid electrolyte membrane, a fuel electrode is provided on one side of the solid electrolyte membrane, an air electrode is provided on the other side, and if necessary, A porous support layer is provided outside both electrodes, and a separator (partition plate) is provided outside the electrode (support layer when a support layer is provided), and (support layer) -fuel electrode-electrolyte membrane-air By sandwiching the electrode (support layer), a fuel cell can be obtained. In order to supply hydrogen to the fuel electrode and oxygen (or air) to the air electrode, a groove capable of supplying hydrogen or oxygen is provided between the separator and both electrodes (support layer when a support layer is provided). Often provided. In addition, it is preferable to perform moisture adjustment by supplying moisture when supplying hydrogen to the fuel electrode. Further, oxygen (or air) supplied to the air electrode may be humidified. As a member constituting the fuel cell other than the solid electrolyte membrane, a known fuel cell member can be used. For example, as the electrode, platinum or platinum-ruthenium alloy-supported carbon black powder held by a water-repellent resin binder such as polytetrafluoroethylene can be used, and carbon paper or the like can be used as the support layer. Carbon paper also acts as a current collector.

The inorganic-organic hybrid material according to the present invention is superior in proton conductivity even under low moisture conditions. Further, since the matrix phase is composed of an inorganic material, it has excellent heat resistance and chemical resistance (corrosion resistance), and can be used even at a high temperature of about 100 to 150 ° C.
Moreover, since the material of this invention contains the organic phase integrated with the inorganic matrix phase, it is excellent also in a softness | flexibility.
