Mc(t)=K0・cos(ωc・t+θ0) (4)
Mb(t)=K1・cos(ωs・t+θ1) (5)
L2(t)=K2・cos(ωs・t+θ2) (10)

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an FMCW radar device that is used for preventing collision of a moving body and extracts information on a relative distance and a relative speed with a target object by transmitting and receiving a frequency-modulated radar wave.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, attempts have been made to mount radar devices on automobiles and apply them as safety devices such as collision prevention. However, as an on-vehicle radar device, it is possible to detect the distance and relative speed of a target at the same time, and to configure it. However, an FMCW radar device (hereinafter referred to as FMCW radar device) that is relatively simple and suitable for downsizing and cost reduction is used.
[0003]
In this FMCW radar apparatus, as shown by a solid line in FIG. 17A, a transmission signal Ss that is frequency-modulated by a triangular wave-like modulation signal and whose frequency gradually increases and decreases linearly with respect to time is transmitted as a radar wave. A radar wave reflected by the target object is received. At this time, the reception signal Sr is delayed by a time Td corresponding to a time required for the radar wave to reciprocate between the target object, that is, a distance to the target object, as indicated by a dotted line in FIG. The Doppler shift is performed by the frequency Fd corresponding to the relative speed between the radar and the target object.
[0004]
Then, by mixing such reception signal Sr and transmission signal Ss with a mixer, as shown in FIG. 17B, a beat signal B which is a frequency component of the difference between these signals Sr and Ss is generated, The frequency of the beat signal B when the frequency of the transmission signal Ss increases (hereinafter referred to as the beat frequency during uplink modulation) is fu, and the beat frequency when the frequency of the transmission signal Ss decreases (hereinafter the beat during downlink modulation). The frequency R) is set to fd, and the distance R to the target object and the relative speed V are calculated using the following equations (1) and (2).
[0005]
[Expression 1]
[0006]
[Expression 2]
[0007]
Here, c is the radio wave propagation speed, T is the period of the triangular wave that modulates the transmission signal, ΔF is the frequency fluctuation width of the transmission signal, and Fo is the center frequency of the transmission signal.
Here, in order to apply such an FMCW radar apparatus as a vehicle-mounted radar apparatus, a target object within a range of about 100 to 200 m as a maximum distance can be detected with a distance resolution of at least several meters. Need to be configured. It is known that the distance resolution ΔR of the FMCW radar apparatus is expressed by the equation (3).
[0008]
[Equation 3]
[0009]
As is clear from the equation (3), in order to obtain a distance resolution of several meters, it is necessary to set the frequency fluctuation width ΔF to about 100 MHz, and secure such a frequency fluctuation width ΔF. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to set the center frequency Fo of the transmission signal to a frequency band (several tens GHz to several hundreds GHz) called a millimeter wave.
[0010]
For example, when the transmission signal Ss is ΔF = 100 MHz and T = 1 ms, it is detected when the relative speed V to the target object is 0 (that is, fu = fd) and the distance R to the target object is 100 m. The beat frequencies fu and fd are 133 KHz. If the target object is within a distance of 100 m or less, a beat signal B of 133 KHz or less is detected. If the relative speed V is not 0, the frequency when the relative speed V is 0 is the center. A beat signal B having a frequency increased or decreased by the amount of Doppler shift is detected. That is, when used as an on-vehicle radar device, it is required that a beat signal of several tens of KHz to several hundreds of KHz can be detected.
[0011]
However, in a high-frequency mixer that handles high-frequency band signals such as millimeter waves, AM-FM conversion noise consisting of frequency components of signal strength fluctuations and 1 / f noise having an intensity inversely proportional to the frequency are superimposed on the output of the mixer. Is done. In addition, since the intensity of these AM-FM conversion noise and 1 / f noise (hereinafter collectively referred to as low frequency noise) is relatively strong in the frequency range of several tens KHz to several hundred KHz as the beat signal B, the beat There has been a problem that the signal-to-noise ratio (hereinafter referred to as SN ratio) of the signal B is deteriorated.
[0012]
On the other hand, for example, in JP-A-5-40169, as shown in FIG. 18, the high-frequency oscillator 12 that generates a high-frequency transmission signal Ss and the frequency of the transmission signal Ss generated by the high-frequency oscillator 12 are triangular. A

[0025]
That is, first, when this type of radar apparatus is used as an on-vehicle radar, it is required to detect a target object within a range of several hundred meters as described above. The repetition period T of the linear modulation component Ma is set to, for example, about 1 ms, that is, about 1 kHz when converted to a frequency. On the other hand, the period (1 / Fs) of the periodic modulation component Mb is such that the first harmonic component of the beat signal B is generated in a region where the low frequency noise in the
[0026]
Thus, when the frequency Fs of the periodic modulation component Mb is sufficiently larger than the repetition frequency (1 / T) of the linear modulation component Ma, the transmission signal Ss generated by the high-frequency oscillator 12 is at a certain time t0. When the frequency obtained at time t0 by the modulation of the linear modulation component Ma is fc, a signal of this frequency fc (hereinafter referred to as a carrier wave) is frequency-modulated by the periodic modulation component Mb of the frequency Fs. Can be considered.
[0027]
Here, assuming that the amplitude of each signal is K0, K1, the phase of each signal is θ0, θ1, and ωc = 2πfc, ωs = 2πFs, the carrier wave Mc (t) and the periodic modulation component Mb (t) (4) and (5).
Mc (t) = K0 · cos (ωc · t + θ0) (4)
Mb (t) = K1 · cos (ωs · t + θ1) (5)
Based on these equations (4) and (5), the local signal L (t) obtained by branching the transmission signal Ss is obtained from the equation (6) and further from the receiving antenna that has received the radar wave reflected by the target object. The received signal R (t) can be expressed by equation (7).
[0028]
That is, the spectrum of the local signal L (t) and the received signal R (t) has a carrier wave with a frequency fc and a sideband with a frequency fc ± Fs.
[0029]
However, in the reception signal R (t) with respect to the transmission signal (that is, the local signal L (t)), the frequency is shifted by fd (ωd = 2πfd) according to the distance to the target object and the relative speed, and the carrier wave The phases of Mc and period modulation component Ma are also shifted by θc and θs, respectively. A and B are the carrier and sideband amplitudes in the local signal L (t), respectively, and α is the attenuation rate of the received signal R (t) with respect to the local signal L (t). Furthermore, θ0 = θ1 = 0 is set to simplify the calculation.
[0030]
The beat signal B (t) generated by mixing the local signal L (t) and the received signal R (t) in the

Furthermore, the second local signal L2 (t) in the
L2 (t) = K2 · cos (ωs · t + θ2) (10)
However, K2 is an amplitude and (theta) 2 is a phase.
[0033]
Then, the second local signal L2 (t) and the first harmonic component B1 (t) of the beat signal extracted by the BPF 32 are mixed by the
[0034]
[Equation 5]
[0035]
That is, the
[0036]
However, as is clear from these equations (9) and (13), the first harmonic component B1 (t) of the beat signal is multiplied by sin (θs / 2) in the term representing the amplitude, so that θs = 2π In the case of ± 2nπ (n is an integer), the output is zero, and similarly, the fundamental wave component C0 (t) of the second beat signal is multiplied by sin θs in terms of amplitude, so θs = π In the case of ± nπ (n is an integer), the output is zero.
[0037]
From the above definition, θs is the phase difference between the periodic modulation component in the local signal L (t) and the periodic modulation component in the received signal R (t). This phase difference θs is the radar wave. Is caused by reciprocating the distance R to the target object, and can be expressed by the following equation (14).
[0038]
[Formula 6]
[0039]
However, λs = c / Fs, c is the speed of light (the propagation speed of the radar wave).
In the
[0040]
That is, when the distance to the target object is in the specific relationship as described above, the intensity of the signals B1 (t) and C0 (t) used for detecting the target object, and thus the detection sensitivity, is greatly reduced. It is.
For example, when the frequency of the periodic modulation component Mb is Fs = 10.5 MHz, the wavelength based on the periodic modulation component Mb is λs = 28 m. Therefore, in the

The
[0042]
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention provides a radar apparatus that detects a distance and a relative speed from a target object using a radar wave whose frequency is doubly modulated by a linear modulation component and a periodic modulation component. An object of the present invention is to enable highly sensitive detection within the entire detection distance range required for the radar apparatus.
[0043]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The radar apparatus according to
[0044]
This transmission signal is radiated as a radar wave. At this time, the high-frequency mixer mixes the transmission signal from the transmission signal generation means as a local signal with the radar wave reception signal reflected by the target object, and these are mixed. A beat signal having a frequency difference between both signals as a component is generated.
[0045]
Then, the calculation means obtains the distance or relative speed from the target object based on the harmonic component generated in the beat signal because the transmission signal is modulated by the periodic modulation component.
In particular, in the present invention, the frequency of the periodic modulation component is set such that the half wavelength of the radar wave having the frequency is longer than the maximum detection distance required for the radar apparatus.
[0046]
Therefore, according to the radar apparatus of the present invention, the target object is a specific distance (periodic modulation component), which is a phenomenon peculiar to the radar apparatus using the radar wave whose frequency is doubly modulated by the linear modulation component and the periodic modulation component. As shown in FIG. 22 (a), the intensity reduction (and hence the detection sensitivity) of the first harmonic component of the beat signal in the case of being at an integral multiple of 1/2 of the wavelength λs based on the frequency Fs of Mb It does not occur within the range up to the maximum detection distance required for the radar apparatus, and the target object within this range can be detected reliably.
[0047]
That is, the target object whose relative distance from the radar apparatus changes every moment is not lost during the detection, and the reliability of the apparatus can be improved.
In FIG. 22A, the maximum detection distance of the radar apparatus is Rmax = 100 m, and the frequency of the periodic modulation component is Fs = 1 MHz (that is, λs≈300 m, and thus λs / 2> Rmax). , And Fs = 2 MHz (that is, λs≈150 m, and therefore λs / 2 <Rmax), the signal intensity obtained when detecting the target object in the range of 0 to 160 m is (9) And calculated based on the equation (14). However, the vertical axis of the graph represents the relative intensity with 0 dB when the distance is 0 m.
[0048]
By the way, as a periodic modulation component, a simple sine wave, a rectangular wave or the like can be used, and as described in
[0049]
In this case, since the spectrum of the periodic modulation component includes a signal component having the same frequency as the repetition frequency of the basic unit as a fundamental wave, the first harmonic component of the beat signal generated by the fundamental wave of the periodic modulation component is used. If the target object is detected, the same effect as that of the radar apparatus according to
[0050]
Further, in the radar device according to
[0051]
Next, in the radar device according to
[0052]
That is, in the radar apparatus of the present invention, the intensity reduction of the first harmonic component of the beat signal is repeatedly generated at every distance less than the distance resolution required for the radar apparatus. However, considering an arbitrary range divided by the size of distance resolution, the entire range has a sufficient signal level on average even if the signal level partially decreases. Therefore, the target object can be detected by detecting this average signal level.
[0053]
Therefore, according to the radar apparatus of the present invention, the target object within the detection range required for the radar apparatus can be reliably detected with the accuracy of the required distance resolution. In addition, the target object is not lost during the detection, and the reliability of the apparatus can be improved.
[0054]
Further, according to the radar apparatus of the present invention, the frequency of the periodic modulation component is set high, and as a result, the first harmonic component of the beat signal is generated in the frequency region where the influence of the low frequency noise is smaller. It is possible to perform detection with high sensitivity and improved SN ratio.
[0055]
Next, in the radar device according to
[0056]
Therefore, according to the radar apparatus of the present invention, the phenomenon that the intensity (detection sensitivity) of the first harmonic component of the beat signal decreases at a specific distance within the detection range required for the radar apparatus (hereinafter referred to as detection sensitivity). Even if a decrease phenomenon occurs), this specific distance changes depending on the repetition frequency of the periodic modulation component, so that the specific distances that decrease the detection sensitivity do not overlap each other. If a setting is selected, the target object within the detection range required for the radar apparatus can be reliably detected by appropriately switching the setting.
[0057]
In the radar apparatus of the present invention, Frequency of periodic modulation component The Switching periodically in synchronization with changes in linear modulation components ing .
In this type of radar apparatus, as shown in FIGS. 17 and 20, generally, a triangular wave-like linear modulation component composed of uplink modulation and downlink modulation is used, and at each modulation of uplink / downlink. Each beat signal is detected, and the target object is detected based on the detected pair of beat signals, and the frequency of the periodic modulation component should be switched for each repetition period of the triangular wave constituting this linear modulation component. This is because the target object can be detected efficiently using periodic modulation components of various frequencies.
[0058]
Further, the switching of the frequency of the periodic modulation component is not performed periodically as described above, 6 As described, the frequency switching control unit may perform control according to the distance from the target object calculated by the calculation unit.
That is, as clarified using the equations (9) and (14), the detection sensitivity of the target object at an arbitrary distance R is obtained from the wavelength λs based on the frequency of the periodic modulation component (and hence the frequency of the periodic modulation component). Therefore, based on the distance to the target object currently detected, if the frequency of the periodic modulation component is adjusted so that the sensitivity at that distance is good, the detection sensitivity is always good. Accurate detection can be performed.
[0059]
Next, it is the fourth invention. 7 The radar apparatus described above includes an intermediate frequency mixer in addition to the configuration of the radar apparatus according to
[0060]
And especially in this invention, the phase difference adjustment means which adjusts the phase difference of a period modulation component and a 2nd local signal is provided.
As can be seen from the equation (12) described above, the fundamental wave component C0 of the second beat signal has a small value of cos (−θs / 2 + θ2) other than a region where the value of sin (θs / 2) is small. Even in such a region, the signal intensity (that is, detection sensitivity) decreases. However, with respect to the latter, by adjusting the phase θ2 of the second beat signal, the specific distance at which the detection sensitivity decreases can be changed as shown in FIG.
[0061]
Thus, for example, the
In FIG. 22B, the frequency of the periodic modulation component is Fs = 1 MHz (λs is about 300 m), and the phase θ2 of the second local signal (here, the phase of the periodic modulation component is θ1 = 0. θ2 represents the phase difference Δθ = θ2−θ1 of the second local signal with respect to the periodic modulation component) for each case where 0 °, 45 °, 90 °, 120 °, 135 °, and 180 ° are set. , The signal intensity obtained when a target object in the range of 0 to 160 m is detected is calculated based on the equation (12). However, as in FIG. 22A, the vertical axis of the graph represents the relative intensity with 0 dB when the distance is 0 m.
[0062]
By the way, even when the phase difference between the periodic modulation component and the second local signal is fixedly adjusted by the phase difference adjusting means, for example, 9 As described, if the phase difference is adjusted to 90 ° ± 180 ° × m, as is clear from equation (12) (in equation (12), the phase of the periodic modulation component is assumed to be θ1 = 0. Therefore, the phase θ2 of the second local signal represents a phase difference), and the detection sensitivity is lowered only at a specific distance based on sin (θs / 2). Therefore, it can be handled in the same manner as a radar apparatus that does not have an intermediate frequency mixer, and can easily cope with a phenomenon of detection sensitivity reduction.
[0063]
Also, a band-pass filter that passes only the signal component in the vicinity of the frequency of the second local signal among the signal components of the beat signal between the high-frequency mixer and the intermediate-frequency mixer, or an amplifier that amplifies only this signal component When the signal emphasis means comprising at least one of them is provided, the beat signal input to the intermediate frequency mixer is delayed by the phase delay of the signal emphasis means from the reception signal input to the high frequency mixer. become.
[0064]
In such a case, the claim is considered in consideration of the phase delay θdl. 10 As described, if the phase difference adjusting means is set so that the phase difference Δθ between the periodic modulation component and the second local signal is Δθ−θdl = 90 ° ± 180 ° × m (m is an integer). Good.
As described in
[0065]
[Expression 7]
[0066]
That is, the adjustment amount of the phase difference Δθ (Δθ−θdl when including the signal enhancement unit) in the phase difference adjusting unit is θRmax ≦ Δθ ≦ 90 ° (θRmax ≦ Δθ−θdl ≦ 90 °). If there is, theoretically, the detection sensitivity does not decrease within the range of the maximum detection distance Rmax. For example, the frequency of the periodic modulation component so that λs / 2 is about 1.5 times the maximum detection distance Rmax. Is set, the phase difference ΔθRmax at the maximum detection distance Rmax is 30 °. In this case, however, the amount of adjustment of the phase difference Δθ (Δθ−θdl) by the phase difference adjusting means is 45 ° ≦ Δθ ≦ 90 ° (45 ° ≦ Δθ) in view of the margin. It is desirable to set it to about −θdl ≦ 90 °.
[0067]
Next, the claim 11 In the described radar apparatus, the second local signal is set to have a frequency n times the periodic modulation component. That is, if the second local signal having such a frequency component is used, the nth harmonic component included in the beat signal can be converted into the fundamental component of the second beat signal by the intermediate frequency mixer.
[0068]
Therefore, according to the radar apparatus of the present invention, the above multiple is set so that harmonic components generated in an area where there are few external interference waves are selected in addition to low-frequency noise according to the environmental conditions used. If appropriately selected, the SN ratio can be further improved and the detection sensitivity can be increased.
[0069]
In order to make the second local signal have a frequency n times the periodic modulation component, for example, 12 As described, the second local signal may be generated by multiplying the period modulation component by n times. 13 As described, the periodic modulation component may be generated by dividing the second local signal by 1 / n.
