【0001】
【0023】
Σ{(RXI*PNS)^2+(RXQ*PNS)^2}

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a baseband receiver circuit in a spread spectrum communication system, and is particularly suitable for a baseband receiver circuit for a mobile station in an asynchronous cellular system between CDMA base stations.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a spread spectrum communication system in digital mobile communication, it is necessary to acquire synchronization of spreading codes used at a transmitting station and a receiving station. In an asynchronous cellular system between CDMA base stations, which represents a spread spectrum communication system, synchronization acquisition called initial cell search is performed in order to determine a cell in which a mobile station is located when power is turned on.
[0003]
As a representative example of the initial cell search in the asynchronous cellular system between CDMA base stations, there is a technique described in technical data TS25.211 of 3GPP (W-CDMA). The contents of the description are intended to increase the speed by dividing the cell search into three steps.
[0004]
In the first stage of the three-stage cell search, slot timing is detected by searching for a PSCH (Primary Synchronization Channel) in which a common code having a length of 256 [chip] is inserted in one slot period. At this time, a matched filter is often used for the correlation processing with the BPSK modulated PSCH.
[0005]
Further, in RAKE combining reception that actively uses multipath during communication unique to the spread spectrum communication system, a path search is performed by obtaining a correlation with CPICH (Common Pilot Channel). In that case, the correlation with CPICH modulated by QPSK is often performed using a matched filter.
[0006]
Basically, it is not necessary to perform the cell search and path search processes at the same time, so it is possible to share one matched filter using time division. A conventional example in which a matched filter is shared in a time division manner between cell search and path search is described in “Matsusita Technical Journal Vol. 45 No. 2 Apr. 1999”.

The conventional example will be described with reference to FIG. The matched

[0011]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the conventional example, if four matched filters necessary for the path search are prepared, the two matched filters are not used at the time of the cell search, and there is a problem that an unnecessary circuit exists and the circuit cannot be effectively used. This problem is also a problem peculiar to W-CDMA due to a difference in modulation scheme between PSCH used for cell search and CPICH used for path search. Such a problem does not occur when the channels used in the cell search and the path search are the same as in cdmaOne.
[0012]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In the CDMA cellular system in which the modulation method is different between the cell search channel and the path search channel included in the downlink, the above-described problem is a means for sharing the matched filter used for the cell search and the matched filter used for the path search by time division. This is solved by providing a CDMA baseband receiving circuit having means for searching by making the tap length in the matched filter different between cell search and path search, and means for varying the search range according to the application at the time of path search. Cell search is mainly divided into 1st search for slot timing extraction, 2nd search for frame timing extraction and code group identification, and 3rd search for scrambling code identification.
[0017]
In the 1st search in 3GPP (W-CDMA), slot timing is detected by searching for a PSCH in which a common code of 256 chips length is inserted in a slot period (15 slots per frame). The 2nd search is multiplexed at the same timing as the PSCH, and the code group is identified at the same time as detecting the frame timing by searching for an SSCH (Secondary Synchronization Channel) in which a 256-chip code different in each slot makes a round in one frame. Is done. In the 3rd search, a correlation value is obtained for each scrambling code (about 8 codes) belonging to the code group identified in the 2nd search, and the scrambling code having the highest correlation among them is determined.

In 3GPP (W-CDMA), the PSCH code used in the 1st search has a code length of 256 chips. Accordingly, the matched filter requires correlation values for 256 taps. In the present invention, however, correlation values for 256 taps can be obtained without increasing the circuit scale by switching the tap coefficients to obtain the accumulated correlation values. .
[0034]
A method for obtaining the accumulation of correlation values by switching tap coefficients will be described with reference to the timing chart of FIG. In the 1 symbol = 256 chip period shown in FIG. 5, the tap coefficient is set to 64 taps from Tap [0] to Tap [63] in the first 1/4 symbol period (64 chip period), and a correlation value for 64 taps is obtained. In the next 1/4 symbol period, the tap coefficient is set to 64 taps from Tap [64] to Tap [127], and a correlation value for 64 taps is obtained. Similarly, in the next ¼ symbol period, the tap coefficient is set to 64 taps from Tap [128] to Tap [191], and a correlation value for 64 taps is obtained. Subsequently, 64 taps from Tap [192] to Tap [255] are set, and a correlation value for 64 taps is obtained. Each correlation value is obtained by the

As described above, during the path search, the

CPICH used for 3GPP (W-CDMA) path search has a spreading ratio of 256 times. Therefore, the matched filter requires correlation values for 256 taps. In the present invention, as in the cell search, the correlation values for 256 taps are obtained without switching the tap coefficients and obtaining the accumulated correlation values without causing an increase in circuit scale. Can be obtained.
[0042]
A method for obtaining the accumulation of correlation values by switching tap coefficients will be described with reference to the timing chart of FIG. In the 1 symbol = 256 chip period shown in FIG. 6, the tap coefficient is set to 32 taps from Tap [0] to Tap [31] in the first 1/8 symbol period (32 chip period), and a correlation value for 32 taps is obtained. In the next 8 symbol period, the tap coefficient is set to 32 taps from Tap [32] to Tap [63], and a correlation value for 32 taps is obtained. Similarly, the tap coefficients are Tap [64] to Tap [95], Tap [96] to Tap [127], Tap [128] to Tap [159], Tap [160] to Tap [191], Tap [192]. [0044]
Normally, it is sufficient for the path search to have a search range of about 32 chips, but if more than that is required, the search range can be expanded by taking correlation while switching tap coefficients in the same manner as the cell search.

In the above description, the data shift type matched filter that correlates with the code while shifting the received data has been described. However, it can be easily applied to a PN shift matched filter that correlates while shifting the PN code. Details of the PN shift type matched filter are described in JP-A-10-285079.

【The invention's effect】
In a CDMA cellular system in which the modulation method is different between the cell search channel and the path search channel included in the downlink, when the matched filter used for the cell search and the matched filter used for the path search are shared in time division, the matched filter By searching with different tap lengths for cell search and path search, the matched filter circuit can be used effectively. Further, at the time of path search, it is possible to reduce power consumption by varying the search range according to the application.
