Description
2. Description of the Related Art The present invention relates to an apparatus for detecting a periodically changing parameter in an internal combustion engine, for example, a load in synchronization with a crankshaft, as described in the superordinate concept of
It is known that the negative pressure in the intake pipe of an internal combustion engine pulsates with the operation clock of the internal combustion engine. However, an actual air flow rate is necessary to accurately control the internal combustion engine. In many cases, alternative parameters such as the average value of the intake pipe pressure are used. Thus, for example, as proposed in
For modern internal combustion engines, this average value formation is still too inaccurate. Further, only an average value is detected by this means, and an accurate pressure course or an accurate air flow rate cannot be detected. However, the latter detection is desired for suitable control means.
Advantages of the Invention On the other hand, the apparatus of the present invention having the structure of
More advantageously, the measured values obtained can be compared with each other and thus with each operating clock. At that time, an average value belonging to each segment is formed, and this average value can also be used for control of the internal combustion engine.
These advantages are obtained by sampling the signal course at a high sampling rate and synchronizing the start of sampling relative to the crankshaft. That is, sampling is started at the same location for each segment. This synchronizes to a periodically oscillating load signal. The integrated inhaled air amount is calculated by integrating over one operation clock.
Proper filtering of periodically oscillating signals can be performed prior to sampling. However, unlike the description of German Patent Application No. 3803276, known means are not necessarily required.
By means of the dependent claims, advantageous embodiments of the device according to
The present invention is illustrated in the drawings and will be described in detail below. FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of the apparatus of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a diagram showing the signal course of the belonging.
The present invention will be described in detail with reference to these drawings.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS FIG. 1 schematically shows the essential elements of the invention of an internal combustion engine. Here, a control device is indicated by 10, a crankshaft is indicated by 11, and a disk is indicated by 12. The disc is coupled to the
The upper surface of the
The
HFM can be used instead of HLM.
The output signals of the load sensor, i.e. the pressure sensor or the air mass meter, are processed appropriately, for example these signals can be filtered to obtain a periodic signal course. This periodic signal course is further processed.
FIG. 2a shows the signal obtained from the crankshaft sensor. Here, only signal portions formed when the trailing edges of the
In FIG. 2c, the course of the load signal UL is shown. This signal is a signal ULH generated from a hot wire type or hot film type air mass meter or a signal of a pressure sensor ULP arranged in the intake pipe. This signal varies periodically with a period length. This period length corresponds to the segment length or αKW angle.
The load profile in FIG. 2c is shown very schematically otherwise. However, this is not important for understanding the present invention. Strictly speaking, hot wire air mass meters rely on air mass flow substantially and deliver a DC voltage signal with sinusoidal pulsations. The amplitude of this pulsation decreases as the rotational speed increases. About 800 to 1400 r. p. In the reverse flow region of m, the output signal at the time of pulsation corresponds to the absolute value of sinusoidal vibration depending on the engine type.
The output signal of the pressure sensor is a DC voltage signal that is substantially linearly dependent on pressure, and sinusoidal pulsations are superimposed in the entire rotational speed region. However, the actual signal course is not necessary for an understanding of the present invention, so only the periodic component is shown.
An additional filter can be used if the pressure sensor is located directly in the intake pipe, but this is not necessary to obtain a reliable and evaluable signal.
The signal of FIG. 2c is sampled at a predetermined time interval of, for example, 1 ms by the controller. What is important here is that the sampling for each segment starts at the same point. Sampling synchronization takes place depending on the signal edges of FIG. 2a. If this synchronization is not executed, the load signal will fluctuate even if the engine operating state is steady because the sampling interval is constant.
The first sampling is performed in the illustrated
The fifth sampling is not performed 1 ms after the fourth sampling, but is performed 1 ms after the occurrence of the second edge of the signal of FIG. 2a. Therefore, it is sampled not at the location indicated by 5, but at the location indicated by 5 '. The same applies to the sixth to eighth samplings. These are also sampled from 6 'to 8' and not sampled from 6 to 8 as in the asynchronous case. This ensures that the sampling for each segment is synchronized and performed at the same location.
In the transition to the third segment, sampling is performed at 9 ″ and not at 9 or 9 ′, where location 9 ″ follows 1 ms after the third edge of the signal of FIG. 2a.
The average value formation is performed over one segment. Thus, the average load signal of the first segment is formed from the first four sampling load signal values. This average value corresponds to the average value of the second segment. The second segment is formed from 5 'to 8' sample values. In the third segment, sampling values from 9 ″ to 12 ″ are used to form the average value.
In order to detect the amount of air inhaled per sampling clock, the load signal (from the HLM or HFM) is integrated over one operating clock, ie over one period length. The following formula applies.
Here, n and n + 1 represent segments, and the crankshaft rotates by an angle αKW between t n and t n + 1 .
In an internal combustion engine that selectively has a pressure sensor or an air mass meter, it is conceivable to combine both detectors if the two signals are processed so that the filter time constant is in the same order. Sampling in synchronism with the crankshaft or the number of revolutions with a 1 ms raster enables unified load detection.
The above method can be used for both pressure and HFM / HLM devices. When the sensor interface is compatible, the control device for processing signals can be the same in hardware, and the data set can be selectively switched between the two data detection devices.
The detected load is used in the control device, in particular for control of the internal combustion engine in connection with optimum ignition and injection.
FIG. 1 shows an embodiment with segmented disks. Similarly, an increment disk can be used. The increment disc is provided with a large number of markings, for example 60 minus 2, and the two missing markings form the reference marks. In this case, the increment disc has a predetermined number of markings, for example 10 markings, forming one segment and thus extends beyond an angle of αKW = 60 ° in the case of a 6-cylinder engine.
If appropriate, the disc can also be coupled to the camshaft. What is important is that the periodic signal to be evaluated is sampled at the same location in each segment according to the period length of the segment length (FIG. 2c).
