本発明は、自動車のドアフレームに装着されるガラスランに関するものである。

【従来の技術】
図2に示すように、自動車のドア1のドアフレーム2にはこれに沿ってガラスラン5が取付けられ、ドアガラス4の昇降を案内するとともに、ドアガラス4が閉じられたときに、その外周部とドアフレーム2との間をシールする。

図3に示すように、ガラスラン5は断面ほぼコ字形の基底部50の相対向する両側壁52a,52bの先端からそれぞれシールリップ53a,53bが伸出する基本構造を有している。一方、ドアフレーム2の内周側には断面ほぼコ字形のチャンネル3が設けられ、図2に示すようにチャンネル3はドアフレーム2から更に下方へ延び、ドア本体内へ延出している。

ガラスラン5は、図1(A)および図2に示すように、車体のルーフサイドに沿うドアフレーム上枠部2Aに沿う押出成形の上辺部分5Aと、前後のドアフレーム縦枠部2B,2Cに沿う垂直部分5B,5Cとを、コーナ部5D,5Eで型成形接続して構成され、基底部50をチャンネル3に嵌め込むことにより取付けられ、シールリップ53a,53bがドアガラス4の外周部をその両面から挟む。

ガラスラン5としては一般にエチレン・プロピレンゴム(EPDMゴム)製のものが用いられているが、近時、これに代えてオレフィン系熱可塑性エラストマー(TPO)製のものが用いられるようになってきた。TPO製のものは、EPDMゴム製のものに匹敵するシール性能を有する他に製造過程で加硫工程が不要であり、かつ軽量である点などにおいて有利である。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところでドアガラス4の昇降が繰返されると、TPO製のガラスラン5では、コーナ部、特に垂直部分5Bと、その上端から斜め上方へ延びる上辺部分5Aとが接続するコーナ部5Dがチャンネル3から抜け方向にずれて浮き上り、また上辺部分5Aのシールリップ53a,53bに波打ち状の変形が生じる傾向がある。

発明者は、その原因は次によるものであることに着目した。すなわち、ドアガラス4が上昇して閉じ切られるときに、ドアガラス4の押し上げ方向(X方向)に対して傾斜方向にあるドアフレーム上枠部2Aに取付けられたガラスラン5の上辺部分5Aには、下からのドアガラス4の押し付けでドアフレーム上枠部2Aのチャンネル3に沿って押し上げる方向(Y方向)のずれ力が作用する。ところがTPO製のガラスランのチャンネル3に対する摩擦抵抗はEPDM製のガラスランのそれよりも小さいからずれが発生し、コーナ部5Dは直線状に引っ張られて浮きが生じ、また上辺部分5Aのシールリップ53a,53bに波打ち状の変形が生じるのである。

そこで、ガラスラン5の基底部50は通常、JISAタイプスプリング硬度Hs75°〜85°とされているが、基底部50の硬度をそれよりも低くしてチャンネル3に対する摩擦抵抗を上げることが考えられるが、硬度を低くすると形状安定性が不足するので好ましくない。

本発明はかかる実情に鑑み、TPO製のガラスランにおいて、ドアガラス閉じ切り時に生じるずれの発生を防止し、すぐれたシール性能を確保することを課題としてなされたものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明は、自動車ドアのドアフレームの内周に設けた断面ほぼコ字形のチャンネルに一連に取付けられるガラスランであって、上記チャンネルに嵌着される断面ほぼコ字形で、相対向する側壁と底壁とからなる基底部と、上記側壁の先端からそれぞれ伸出してドアガラスの外周部を両面から挟むシールリップを備えたガラスランにおいて、ガラスランをオレフィン系熱可塑性エラストマー(TPO)で構成し、ガラスランのうち少なくとも、車体のルーフサイドに沿うドアフレーム上枠部のチャンネルに取付けられる上辺部分は、その基底部の側壁および底壁の外面のチャンネルとの接触部に、ガラスラン本体よりも軟質のTPOの被覆層を形成するとともに、そのシールリップのドアガラスとの接触面に、ガラスラン本体よりも硬質のTPOの被覆層を形成する。

ドアガラス閉じ切り時のガラスランのずれは主として、ガラスランのチャンネルに対する摩擦抵抗と、シールリップのドアガラスに対する摺動抵抗により決まる。本発明はガラスランの基底部のチャンネルとの接触部にガラスラン本体よりも軟質のTPOの被覆層を形成してチャンネルに対する摩擦抵抗を上げ、シールリップのドアガラスとの接触面にガラスラン本体よりも硬質の被覆層を形成してドアガラスに対する摺動性を向上させることで、ドアガラス閉じ切り時のガラスランのずれが防止される。

【発明の実施の形態】
図1(A)に示すように、ガラスラン5はTPOを押出成形した前後の垂直部分5B,5Cと、同じくTPOを押出成形した上辺部分5Aとを前後のコーナ部5D,5EでTPOで型形成接続することにより構成されている。ガラスラン5は全長にわたりほぼ同一の断面形状で、図1(B)に示すように断面ほぼコ字形の基底部50と、基底部50の相対向する側壁52a,52bの先端から基底部50内方向へ伸出するシールリップ53a,53bを備えている。底壁51の端部から小リップ54が突出している。

ドアフレーム2の内周側には断面ほぼコ字形のチャンネル3が形成されている。ガラスラン5はその基底部50をチャンネル3に嵌め込むことにより取付けられ、シールリップ53a,53bがドアガラス4の外周部をその両面から挟む。なお、図において、20は図略のドアウエザストリップを保持するリテーナである。

基底部50とシールリップ53a,53bとで構成するガラスラン本体は、従来のTPOのガラスランと同様に硬度Hs75°〜85°のTPOのソリッド材からなる。ガラスラン5のうち、ドアフレーム上枠部2Aに取付けられる上辺部分5Aは、取付け状態でチャンネル3と接触する両側壁52a,52bの外面にガラスラン本体よりも軟質のTPOからなる被覆層6a,6bが形成してある。またドアガラス閉時にドアガラス4により押し上げられてチャンネル3と接触する底壁51の幅方向中央部外面にも同様の軟質の被覆層6cが形成してある。また、小リップ54の先端にも軟質の被覆層6dが形成してある。被覆層6a,6b,6c,6dの硬度はJISAタイプスプリング硬度Hs30°〜50°としてある。

かつ、ガラスラン5の上辺部分5Aにおいて、ドアガラス4と接するシールリップ53a,53bの相対向する面にはガラスラン本体よりも硬質のTPOの被覆層7a,7bが形成してある。被覆層7a,7bの硬度はショアDタイプ硬度で40°程度としてある。

TPOの硬度は、TPOの主成分であるポリプロピレン樹脂と、EPDMゴムの配合割合を変えることにより調整され、ゴム成分を相対的に多くすることで軟質となる。また、TPOを化学発泡または水発泡させることで軟質にすることができる。上記軟質の被覆層6a,6b,6c,6d,7a,7bはガラスラン本体と一体に押出成形される。

ガラスラン5の上辺部分5Aのチャンネル3と接触する個所に軟質の被覆層6a,6b,6c,6dを形成するとともに、ドアガラス4に接する個所に硬質の被覆層7a,7bを形成したTPOのガラスランにおいて、ドアガラス4が上昇して閉じ切られるとき、後方へ向け斜め上方へ傾斜するフレーム上枠部2A(図2)のチャンネル3に取付けられた上辺部分5Aでは、ドアガラス4の押し込みで後方へずらそうとする力が作用する。

しかしながらチャンネル3と密着した軟質の被覆層6a,6b,6c,6dの摩擦抵抗により、かつ硬質の被覆層7a,7bのガラス摺動性により、ずれが防止され、ガラスラン本体がコーナ部5Dでチャンネル3からの浮き上りは生じない。そして軟質の被覆層6a,6b,6c,6dがチャンネル3に密着しているので、水や車外音に対するシール性は良好に保持される。またガラスラン本体の保形性に必要な硬度も確保される。

上記実施形態では、ガラスラン5の上辺部分5Aの、チャンネル3との接触部のほとんどすべてに軟質の被覆層を形成したが、側壁52a,52bの被覆層6a,6bのみとしても、ずれ防止効果は良好に発揮される。

また上記実施形態では、上辺部分5Aにのみ軟質の被覆層を形成したが、垂直部分5B,5Cにも形成してもよく、特に側壁52a,52bの外面に軟質の被覆層6a,6bを形成することで、ドアガラス4の昇降に伴うガラスラン5のずれ防止に役立つ。シールリップ53a,53bにはガラスラン5全長にわたって硬質の被覆層7a,7bを形成することが望ましい。

本発明によれば、自動車のドアフレームに取付れられるTPO製のガラスランにおいて、ドアガラス閉じ切り時にドアフレーム上枠部に取付けられたガラスラン上辺部分に対するドアガラスの押し上げに基因するずれや抜けを防止して、ガラスランとドアフレームとの間のシール性を良好に保持することができる。
