【0001】
バッファメモリ22は書き換え可能なメモリとしての例えばRAM(Random Access Memory)により構成される。
【0029】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a disk storage device that performs seek / positioning control of a head based on servo data read from a disk medium by a head, and in particular, has a function of dynamically generating servo data reading timing.Disk storageAbout.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In a disk storage device in which a head is moved in the radial direction of a disk medium by a rotary head actuator using a voice coil motor (VCM) as a drive source, the head is moved to a disk medium based on servo data read from the disk medium by the head. It is common to perform servo control to seek and position at the upper target position.
[0003]
Usually, in order to extract servo data from a read signal read from a disk medium by a head, it is necessary to generate a timing for reading the servo data. There are a plurality of timings corresponding to the types of data constituting the servo data.
[0004]
Conventionally, servo data reading timing is generally generated by measuring a predetermined time with reference to a start bit detection (start bit generation) time point by detection of a reference signal in servo data. Here, the timing generation for the other data portion located before the reference signal portion (start bit detection portion) in the servo data takes another fixed time based on the detection of the start bit one sample (one servo sector) before. This is done by measuring.
[0005]
The head used for writing data from the disk medium (data recording) and reading data (data reproduction) such as servo data from the disk medium is driven by a rotary head actuator. When seeking to move to a track, the head moves while drawing an
[0006]
When positioning control (on-track control) for positioning the head at the target position of the target track is performed, the generated timing is slightly shifted by the rotational fluctuation of the spindle motor that rotates the disk medium. On the other hand, during seeking, the head moves in a circular arc on the disk medium, so the time until the servo data area reaches the head differs depending on the seek direction.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
As described above, the conventional disk storage device generates the servo data reading timing in a predetermined time. However, since the time required for the servo data area to reach the head differs depending on the seek direction, the time variation due to this seek may cause reading to start earlier than the servo data to be read or the servo data will arrive. In spite of this, there has been a problem that reading is not performed promptly because the predetermined time has not been reached.
[0008]
As a specific example, in a conventional disk storage device, an AGC gain is adjusted in an AGC (Automatic Gain Controll) area at the beginning of servo data, and an AGC control signal is set so as to fix the AGC gain in the subsequent erase area. Control is performed at a predetermined time. These timings are generated based on the start bit detected in the servo area one sample before.
[0009]
As described above, when the AGC control signal is controlled at a predetermined time, if the servo data arrives early due to time fluctuation due to seek, AGC gain adjustment is started from the middle of the AGC area or from the erase area. End up. Conversely, if the arrival of servo data is slow, AGC gain adjustment starts from the user data area before the servo data.
[0010]
In either case, since the AGC gain is adjusted in a portion other than the AGC area, the gain is not adjusted correctly. As a result, there is a problem that servo data following the AGC area cannot be read correctly in some cases, causing a problem in seek control.
[0011]
The present invention has been made in consideration of the above circumstances, and its purpose is to set servo data reading timing during seek dynamically according to time fluctuations during seeking, so that servo data is always in an optimal state. Can readDisk storageIs to provide.
[0012]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention relates to a disk storage device to which a sector servo system is applied,During head seek,Time measuring means for measuring the time interval of servo data one sample before; The difference between the time interval of the servo data one sample before measured by the time measuring means and the time interval of the standard servo data is the time interval of the servo data at the time of head positioning control as the time interval of the standard servo data. Means for calculatingTiming signal for reading the servo data of the next sample, By shifting the calculated difference from the predetermined timingAnd a timing generation means for generating.
[0013]
In such a configuration, the servo data reading timing at the time of seek can be dynamically set according to the time fluctuation during the seek, so that servo data can always be read in an optimum state. .
[0014]
Here, every time the timing generation means detects a reference signal for identifying the servo data included at a predetermined position in the servo data, the measured value of the time measurement means at that time is used as the servo data one sample before.ofIf you apply a configuration that is acquired as a time interval and resets and restarts the time measurement means, the servo data one sample beforeofMeasure time intervals with high accuracyit can.

[0046]
4 to 6, the area length is drawn larger than the user data area (120) in order to clearly indicate each data portion (servo portion data) in the servo area (110). The data area (120) occupies 90%. For this reason, the timing shift of t1 is negligible, whereas the shifts td1 and td2 of t2 and t3 across the data area (120) become large.
[0047]
Contrary to the above, when seeking from the outer circumference side to the inner circumference side, as shown in FIG. 6, the timing of the next servo area (110) is delayed by td3 as compared with the positioning control shown in FIG. Further, the timing of the erase area (112) in the servo area (110) is delayed by td4.
[0048]
In either case, the AGC gain is to be adjusted in a portion other than the AGC area (111) due to the above-described deviation (see FIGS. 5 and 6), so that the gain is not adjusted to the correct gain. As a result, in some cases, various servo unit data following the AGC area (111) cannot be read correctly, which may cause a problem in seek control.
[0049]
Therefore, in this embodiment, the time interval of the immediately preceding servo area (110) is measured, and the difference between the interval and the ideal servo area (110) cycle that can be known in advance (= positioning cycle). So that the difference between the read signal and various generated timings is reduced by generating a signal shifted by the difference at the next timing generation.Shiing. Here, the amount of timing deviation during seeking is determined by the position of the rotary head actuator 13 (the radial position of the

[0062]
In the magnetic disk device, various timing signals such as a burst timing signal are required in addition to the AGC / HOLD signal and the servo gate for reading servo data. In this embodiment, the servo data can always be read correctly by following the time variation during seeking.
[0066]
In addition,In the embodiment described above, the case where the present invention is applied to a magnetic disk device has been described. However, the present invention is a disk storage device that performs head seek / positioning control based on servo data read by a head. The present invention can also be applied to a disk storage device other than the magnetic disk device, such as a magneto-optical disk device.
[0067]
【The invention's effect】
As described above in detail, according to the present invention, the servo data reading timing at the time of seek is dynamically set according to the time fluctuation during the seek, so that servo data is always read in an optimum state. Can do.
