BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a frequency dividing circuit that divides a reference clock signal by N, a frequency multiplying circuit that multiplies the frequency-divided clock signal output from the frequency dividing circuit and outputs an (M / N) multiplied clock signal to the outside. The clock signal generator 8 configured in this way can generate both a clock signal having a frequency lower than the frequency f0 of the reference clock signal and a clock signal having a high frequency. Further, the frequency of the clock signal to be output to the outside is set to f0 * (M / N) by the combination of the setting of the frequency division value N in the previous

However, depending on the application, for example, there may be a case where it is not necessary to use the
[0005]
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a clock signal generator capable of reducing power consumed by a circuit portion that does not need to be substantially operated , and the clock signal generator. It is providing the microcomputer comprised by providing.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
According to the clock signal generator of the first aspect, the multiplication side selection output means stops the operation of the multiplication circuit as necessary, and at that time, instead of the (M / N) multiplication clock signal, the frequency division circuit The output divided clock signal is output to the outside as it is. Therefore, when a desired clock signal can be obtained only by using the frequency divider circuit, the operation of the multiplier circuit can be stopped, so that wasteful power consumption by the multiplier circuit can be reduced.
Further, since the frequency division side selection output means is provided and the operation of the frequency divider circuit is also stopped as necessary, the operation of the frequency multiplier circuit and / or the frequency divider circuit can be selectively stopped, which is useless. Power consumption can be further reduced.
Further, the selection output means stops the operation of the multiplication circuit and / or the frequency division circuit when the multiplication value set in the multiplication value setting means is equal to the frequency division value set in the frequency division value setting means. . That is, when both the multiplier circuit and the divider circuit are configured to be able to stop the operation, if the multiplier value and the divider value are set to the same value, the multiplier circuit and the divider circuit are operated. There is no need. Therefore, when such setting is performed, the operation of the multiplier circuit and / or the frequency divider circuit can be appropriately stopped.

According to the clock signal generator of
[0012]
According to the clock signal generating device of the third aspect , the multiplication circuit is configured using the DPLL circuit. That is, the DPLL circuit includes a ring oscillator or the like in order to generate a clock signal with an extremely high frequency. Therefore, the oscillation stabilization time is short, and it is possible to start the oscillation operation in an extremely short time from the oscillation stop state, and there is an advantage that the operation as the multiplication circuit can be started quickly, while the power consumption during the operation is reduced. It will be relatively high. Therefore, the power consumption reduction effect of the present invention can be effectively achieved by applying the configuration described in
[0013]
According to the microcomputer of the fourth aspect, since the clock signal generator according to any one of the first to third aspects is provided, depending on the setting of the clock signal used in the microcomputer, the power consumption may be reduced. An effect can be produced in reduction.
