[Industrial applications]
The present invention relates to an electronic component mounting method and apparatus for mounting various electronic components on a substrate such as a printed circuit board at high speed.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art A mounting device for an electronic component in which a suction nozzle is provided on a mounting head capable of changing a relative position with respect to a printed board so as to be movable up and down, an electronic component is held by the suction nozzle, and the electronic component is mounted on the printed board has been known. .
[0003]
When mounting electronic components held by the suction nozzle on a printed circuit board using this type of electronic component mounting device, the thickness of the electronic components varies depending on the type of electronic components. Even if it is attempted to mount on a printed circuit board surface, component mounting that satisfies the optimum conditions cannot be realized with only one vertical operation pattern of the suction nozzle.
[0004]
For this reason, conventionally, the vertical movement of the suction nozzle at the time of mounting is changed mainly by the following two methods.
[0005]
(1) The height of the suction nozzle is arbitrarily shifted while the vertical stroke of the suction nozzle is kept constant by cam operation or the like (Japanese Patent Publication No. 3-24079 and Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 63-160400 disclose this method). There is.).
[0006]
(2) The vertical stroke amount of the suction nozzle is adjusted by arbitrarily changing the length of the drive lever for driving the suction nozzle up and down and the fulcrum position (for example, Japanese Patent Publication No. 4-47480 and There is JP-A 1-261898).
[0007]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, in the electronic component mounting apparatus, it is indispensable to move the suction nozzle up and down by the operation of the up and down cam driven by the electric motor for high-speed operation. If only the height and stroke of the suction nozzle are simply considered, it is possible to use a linear motion mechanism using a ball screw or the like, or a linear motor, but it is disadvantageous for reciprocating at a high speed. The mechanism is large and the cost is likely to be high. When the cam operation is performed for the high-speed operation of the suction nozzle, in the methods (1) and (2) described above, since the height and stroke adjustment mechanisms are interposed, a motor (electric motor) for vertically operating the suction nozzle is used. In addition, a motor that can be positioned at an arbitrary angle for adjustment is required separately, and the mechanism is complicated and the cost is increased.
[0008]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and has the same or different vertical cams to adjust the thickness of an electronic component by using the same or different vertical cams by rotating the vertical cam once and rotating the suction nozzle at a high speed at a predetermined stroke. The height of the suction nozzle is lowered to the height of the suction cam, the vertical cam is stopped, and then the suction cam is rotated in the reverse direction. It is an object of the present invention to provide a method and an apparatus for mounting an electronic component that can be properly mounted on a component.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, a method of mounting an electronic component according to the first invention of the present application is a method of mounting an electronic component on a substrate using a mounting head that drives a vertical shaft having a suction nozzle at a lower portion by a vertical cam. A predetermined stroke operation in which the up / down cam is rotated once to drive the suction nozzle up and down, and a rotation in which the up / down cam is rotated at an arbitrary angle to stop the suction nozzle during the descent operation and then reversely rotate the suction nozzle. And a variable stroke operation that raises the pressure can be selected.
[0010]
Further, the electronic component mounting method according to the second invention of the present application is characterized in that the electronic component is mounted on a substrate using a mounting head that drives a vertical shaft having a suction nozzle at a lower portion by a vertical cam. A plurality of vertical cams for driving the suction nozzle up and down, a predetermined stroke operation of driving the suction nozzle up and down by rotating the vertical cam selected from the plurality of vertical cams once, and A variable stroke operation in which the same or another up and down cam selected from the up and down cams is rotated by an arbitrary angle, stopped during the lowering operation of the suction nozzle, and then reversely rotated to raise the suction nozzle can be selected. It is characterized by doing.
[0011]
An electronic component mounting apparatus according to a third aspect of the present invention has a configuration in which an elevating shaft having a suction nozzle at a lower portion is provided so as to be able to move up and down, and a mounting head that moves the elevating shaft up and down by a vertical cam is provided. By providing a drive source capable of reverse rotation, rotating the cam for up and down, rotating the cam for up and down one turn to drive the suction nozzle up and down, and rotating the cam for up and down at an arbitrary angle. A variable stroke operation in which the suction nozzle is stopped in the middle of the descent operation of the suction nozzle and then reversely rotated to raise the suction nozzle can be selectively executed.
[0012]
An electronic component mounting apparatus according to a fourth aspect of the present invention has a configuration in which an elevating shaft having a suction nozzle at a lower portion is provided so as to be able to move up and down, and a mounting head that drives the elevating shaft up and down by an up and down cam is provided. Are provided, and a selecting means for selecting one of the up and down cams is provided, a drive source capable of normal rotation and reverse rotation is provided, and the plurality of types of up and down cams are rotationally driven. A predetermined stroke operation of rotating the suction nozzle up and down by rotating the up / down cam selected by the selection means by one turn, and rotating the suction nozzle by rotating the same or another up / down cam selected by the selection means by an arbitrary angle. And a variable stroke operation in which the suction nozzle is raised by stopping the rotation in the middle of the lowering operation and then reversely rotating the suction nozzle.
[0013]
In the electronic component mounting apparatus according to the third or fourth aspect of the present invention, a spline shaft is provided in parallel with the moving direction of the mounting head, and a spline nut fitted to the spline shaft is rotated by the main body of the mounting head. The spline nut is provided with a cam follower that is driven by the up / down cam, and the spline nut is provided with a cam follower that is driven by the up / down cam. A configuration may be employed in which a cam follower is driven, and the lift shaft is driven to move up and down by the cam follower.
[0014]
[Action]
In the electronic component mounting method and apparatus according to the present invention, when the suction nozzle provided to be able to move up and down with respect to the mounting head is driven up and down, the up and down cam is rotated once to drive the suction nozzle up and down. The stroke operation (constant stroke operation) and the variable stroke operation (arbitrary stroke operation) in which the up / down cam is stopped in the middle of the lowering operation of the suction nozzle and then reversed to raise the suction nozzle can be selected. Various electronic components different from each other can be mounted on a substrate surface such as a printed circuit board or the like under optimal conditions (to minimize the impact applied to the electronic components), and the quality of the mounted electronic components can be appropriately maintained.
[0015]
When a plurality of types of up / down cams are provided, an appropriate up / down cam can be selected according to the electronic component to be mounted, and the types of electronic components that can be mounted under optimum conditions can be expanded. it can.
[0016]
Further, a spline shaft is arranged in parallel to the moving direction of the mounting head, a spline nut fitted to the spline shaft is rotatably held by the main body of the mounting head, and the vertical cam is mounted on the spline nut. A cam follower is provided on the main body of the mounting head to follow the up / down cam, the up / down cam rotating in conjunction with the spline shaft drives the cam follower, and the cam follower drives the elevating shaft up and down. In this case, the rotation drive source for the up and down cams may be provided at the end of the spline shaft, and it is not necessary to provide the rotation head at the mounting head itself. Can be moved at high speed. Therefore, it is possible to improve the mounting speed of the electronic component when considering the moving time of the mounting head in the electronic component mounting apparatus.
