Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a hub unit with a steering function, a steering system, and a vehicle, which have the function of independently steering left and right wheels.
In a typical vehicle such as an automobile, a steering wheel and a steering device are mechanically connected, and both ends of the steering device are connected to the left and right wheels by tie rods, respectively. Therefore, the turning angle of the left and right wheels due to the movement of the steering wheel is determined by the initial settings. There are two types of vehicle geometry: (1) "parallel geometry" in which the turning angle of the left and right wheels is the same, and (2) "parallel geometry" in which the turning angle of the inner wheel is set larger than the outer turning wheel angle in order to center the turning in one place. Ackermann geometry is known.
Ackermann geometry adjusts the steering angle difference between the left and right wheels so that each wheel turns around a common point, in order to make the wheels turn smoothly when turning at low speeds where the centrifugal force acting on the vehicle can be ignored. It is set. However, in turning at high speeds where centrifugal force cannot be ignored, it is desirable for the wheels to generate cornering force in a direction that balances the centrifugal force, so parallel geometry is preferable to Ackermann geometry. Therefore, by changing the turning angle of the wheels according to vehicle speed and turning acceleration, and arbitrarily selecting Ackermann geometry in low speed ranges and parallel geometry in high speed ranges, running resistance does not increase, and the turning angle at low speeds is reduced. Consideration has been given to achieving both smooth turning performance and high-speed cornering performance.
As mentioned above, since the steering system of a typical vehicle is mechanically connected to the wheels, it can generally only have a single, fixed steering geometry. Often set to intermediate geometry. However, in this case, in a low speed range, the steering angle difference between the left and right wheels is insufficient and the steering angle of the outer wheel becomes excessive, and in a high speed range, the steering angle of the inner wheel becomes excessive. If there is an unnecessary bias in the wheel lateral force distribution between the inner and outer wheels as described above, the running resistance deteriorates, resulting in poor fuel efficiency and early wheel wear. Additionally, there is a problem in that cornering becomes less smooth due to inability to utilize the inner and outer wheels efficiently. Based on these considerations, various devices have been proposed (for example,

Furthermore, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2022-108179 by the present applicant discloses a hub unit body having a hub bearing for rotationally supporting a wheel, a steering axis provided in an underbody frame part of a suspension system, and a steering axis extending vertically around the hub unit body. A hub unit with a steering function is described, which includes a unit support member that supports the hub unit rotatably around the hub unit, and a steering actuator that rotates the hub unit body around the steering axis. Furthermore, in the hub unit with a steering function, the steering actuator includes a motor and a linear motion mechanism that converts the rotational output of the motor into linear motion and drives the hub unit body to rotate around the steering axis. have In order to convert the linear motion of the linear motion mechanism of the steering actuator into steering (rotational motion) of the hub unit body, it is necessary to correct the positional relationship between the linear motion mechanism and the hub unit body. It is necessary to use a joint part between it and the hub unit body. It should be noted that when using joint parts with a one-link type joint system (one-joint type), which has one joint part, it is possible to use the play (such as play in gaps) to steer the vehicle. It is preferable to accurately determine the position using a joint component using a two-link joint system (two-joint system) having joint parts.
In Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2022-108179, a linear motion mechanism and a hub unit main body are connected via a joint portion (coupling portion) having degrees of freedom in two or more directions in order to reduce installation errors. These joint parts (components) not only accurately transmit the power from the actuator and steer the hub unit body, but also require a large load capacity to support the reaction force from the tires. For this reason, it is desirable to use a sliding bearing with a large load capacity such as a ball joint in the link portion.
Here, the steering shaft and the rotation support member (bearing) around the steering shaft support loads from the wheels from various directions, so they need to have high rigidity and strength, but it is necessary to ensure rigidity. Therefore, simply increasing the size will increase the weight and size, which will increase the unsprung load and reduce the vehicle's dynamic performance. Further, if the steering shaft portion is disposed outside the tire wheel, the distance from the center of the steering axis to the center of the ground contact surface of the wheel becomes long, and a large force for steering the wheel is required. This increases the size of the actuator, which in turn increases the weight of the entire hub unit.
In addition, the functions required of the above-mentioned joint are that it contributes to efficiently converting the linear motion of the steering actuator into rotational motion around the steering axis, and that it has high strength against reverse input from the wheels. . Although it is possible to intentionally use play in the joint as described above, when converting the linear movement of the actuator into rotational movement around the steering axis, play in the linear motion mechanism etc. In principle, it is preferable that no twisting occurs. When a sliding bearing as described above is used, if there is a large relative slippage between the inner member and the outer member enclosing the inner member, there is a risk that not only the working efficiency will be deteriorated but also the durability will be reduced. As a measure to increase the strength against the above reverse input, it is possible to increase the size of the above-mentioned sliding bearing, but there is a limit to how much it can be arranged inside the wheel. Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2022-108179 does not explicitly mention these points.
An object of the present invention is to provide a hub unit with a steering function, a steering system, and a vehicle that contribute to efficiently converting the linear movement of an actuator into rotational movement around a steering axis and that also has high strength against reverse input from wheels. The steering actuator is a hub unit with a steering function that includes a motor and a linear motion mechanism that converts the rotational output of the motor into linear motion to perform the rotational drive,
A joint portion is interposed between the linear motion mechanism and the hub unit main body,
When the hub unit main body is at the neutral position of the steering angle, the linear motion mechanism axis of the steering actuator is aligned with the steering axis of the hub unit main body and the first one of the joint portion on the hub unit main body side. perpendicular to the plane containing the center point.
The term "orthogonal" used herein may be, for example, within a range of 90°±10°. In addition, in terms of assembly, it is possible to manufacture within a range of, for example, 90°±1°.
According to this configuration, the hub unit with a steering function of the present invention includes a hub unit main body having a hub bearing that rotatably supports a wheel, and a unit support that supports the hub unit main body rotatably around a steering axis extending in the vertical direction. It is equipped with a section. A linear motion mechanism driven by a steering actuator rotates the hub unit body around the steering axis. This steering actuator allows the hub unit body to be freely rotated within a certain range around the steering axis, making it possible to arbitrarily change the toe angle of the wheels, for example, depending on the vehicle's driving conditions. .
The hub unit with steering function of the present invention is applicable to both front wheels and rear wheels. When this hub unit with a steering function is applied to a front wheel, the wheel is steered together with, for example, the knuckle and the unit support member by the driver's steering operation using a steering device. For example, a small angle of steering (also called auxiliary steering) can be performed independently for each wheel around the steering axis. Therefore, the steering angle difference between the left and right wheels can be changed depending on the traveling speed during turning. Furthermore, the steering geometry can be changed while the vehicle is running, such as using parallel geometry when turning at high speeds and Ackermann geometry when turning at low speeds. In this way, the wheel angle can be changed arbitrarily while the vehicle is running, which improves the driving performance of the vehicle and allows it to run stably and safely. Furthermore, by appropriately changing the steering angles of the left and right steering wheels, it is possible to reduce the turning radius of the vehicle during cornering and improve the turning performance. Furthermore, even when driving in a straight line, by adjusting the amount of toe angle according to each situation, it is possible to make adjustments such as ensuring driving stability at high speeds without worsening fuel economy at low speeds.
In addition, when this hub unit with steering function is applied to the rear wheel, the entire hub unit is not steered (rotationally driven), but the steering function such as steering wheel operation allows the slight angle of the hub unit body to be adjusted in the same way as the front wheel. Steering can be performed independently for each wheel. By setting the steering angle in the same phase as the front wheels, the influence of the yaw direction that occurs during steering can be suppressed and the stability of the vehicle can be improved. Furthermore, even when driving in a straight line, the toe angle can be adjusted independently on the left and right sides to ensure driving stability.
Further, in the hub unit with a steering function of the present invention, when the hub unit main body is at the neutral position of the steering angle (the steering angle of the hub unit main body is 0 degree position), the steering actuator is centered on the axis of the linear motion mechanism of the actuator. is arranged so as to be orthogonal to a plane passing through the steering axis and the first center point of the joint portion. Note that typically, the first center point exists on the axis of the actuator linear motion mechanism. Therefore, it is possible to contribute to efficiently converting the linear movement of the steering actuator into rotational movement around the steering axis, and in addition, it is possible to provide a structure with high strength against reverse input from the wheels. With this configuration, when the hub unit main body is steered, the distance of the first center point from the axis of the linear motion part of the actuator can be minimized. Note that at least the above configuration can be a one-joint type in which only the first center point exists, so play is taken into consideration, for example, in steering by a one-joint type joint component.
Note that the hub unit main body has an arm portion extending from the hub unit main body and to which the steering actuator is connected,
The steering actuator has an output rod in the linear motion mechanism that is movable in a direction perpendicular to the steering axis,
The output rod and the arm portion may be connected by the joint portion. Note that the joint portion may include a so-called ball joint structure. This configuration can further contribute to efficiently converting the linear movement of the steering actuator into rotational movement around the steering axis, and can also provide a structure with high strength against reverse input from the wheels.
The first center point of the joint portion and the second center point of the joint portion on the side of the linear motion mechanism may be arranged on the axis of the linear motion mechanism of the steering actuator. In this case, the joint part can be a two-joint type, and the two-joint type allows accurate positioning, rather than steering using backlash like the one-joint type. In addition, when the distance between the first center point and the axis of the linear motion mechanism of the steering actuator is minimized, the relative slip (bending angle) at the second center point is reduced when the hub unit body is steered. Can be done. Relative slip is, for example, a change in the inclination of the axis of the linear motion mechanism of the actuator with respect to the axis of the joint part passing through the first center point JO1 and the second center point JO2 (the angle formed by the two axes changes). meaning). Therefore, when converting the straight motion of the steering actuator into rotational motion about the steering axis, the straight motion can be efficiently performed without causing backlash or twisting. Furthermore, since the external force from the wheels can be directly (straightly) received, the steering actuator can be downsized.
The steering actuator may be supported to be swingable about the second center point, which is a swing axis extending in the vertical direction, with respect to the unit support member. In this case, it is possible to achieve the same effect as the above-described configuration in which the joint portion has the second center point on the linear motion mechanism side.
In the unit support member, upper and lower rotation support members that rotatably support the hub unit main body around the steering axis may be disposed within a wheel of the wheel. The position of this rotational support member (steering axis) allows the hub unit with steering function to be made more compact and can stably respond to impacts from the ground.
A steering system of the present invention is a steering system comprising a hub unit with a steering function having any of the above configurations of the present invention, and a control device that controls a steering actuator of the hub unit with a steering function, the control device comprising: The device includes a steering control unit that outputs a current command signal according to a given steering angle command signal, and a drive control unit that outputs a current according to the current command signal input from the steering control unit to drive and control the steering actuator. and an actuator drive control section.
According to this configuration, the steering control section outputs a current command signal according to a given steering angle command signal. The actuator drive control section drives and controls the steering actuator by outputting a current according to a current command signal input from the steering control section. Therefore, not only can the same effects as those described above for the hub unit with a steering function described above be obtained, but also the wheel angle can be arbitrarily changed in addition to the steering by the driver's steering wheel operation.
In the vehicle of the present invention, one or both of the front wheels and the rear wheels are supported using the hub unit with a steering function having any of the above configurations of the present invention. Therefore, the same effects as described above for the above-mentioned hub unit with steering function can be obtained. The front wheels are generally used as steered wheels, and when the hub unit with a steering function of the present invention is applied to the steered wheels, it is effective for adjusting the toe angle during driving. The rear wheels are generally considered non-steered wheels, but when applied to non-steered wheels, slight steering of the non-steered wheels reduces the minimum turning radius when driving at low speeds and improves vehicle stability when driving at high speeds. can be achieved.
The hub unit with a steering function, the steering system, and the vehicle of the present invention contribute to efficiently converting the linear movement of the actuator into rotational movement about the steering axis, while also increasing the strength against reverse input from the wheels.

<Effects on the positional relationship between the steering
The effects of the positional relationship between the steering
As shown in FIG. 10, when the

The
The
Furthermore, during cornering, the steering angle difference between the left and right wheels can be changed depending on the traveling speed. For example, the steering geometry can be changed during driving, such as using parallel geometry when turning in a high speed range and using Ackermann geometry when turning in a low speed range. In this way, the wheel angle can be changed arbitrarily while the vehicle is running, which improves the driving performance of the vehicle and allows it to run stably and safely. Furthermore, by appropriately changing the steering angles of the left and right wheels, it is possible to reduce the turning radius of the vehicle during cornering and improve the turning performance. Furthermore, even when driving in a straight line, by adjusting the toe angle according to each situation, it is possible to make adjustments such as ensuring running stability at high speeds without worsening fuel economy at low speeds.
When this configuration of the

<About the steering system SY>
As shown in FIG. 1, the steering system SY includes a
