The present invention relates to a composite structure, a method for producing the same, and a sensor using the composite structure, and is particularly useful for a gas sensor or a molecular sensor for detecting molecules such as ammonia, nonanal, and hydrogen. The present invention relates to a method and a sensor using the composite structure.
With increasing expectations for "IoT" that connects sensors, electronic devices, mobility, etc. via the Internet, and "Trillion Sensor" that aims to create a 1 trillion sensor network society, there is an increasing demand for detection of various gases and odors. .. At that time, since a huge number of sensors are mounted on various devices and equipment, it is required to improve the performance, cost, miniaturization, power consumption, etc. of the sensors. As the development of sensors using various new nanomaterials progresses, expectations for gas sensors and molecular sensors using carbon nanotubes are increasing.
Although carbon nanotubes have features such as high conductivity and high specific surface area, they are less diverse in composition, crystallinity, crystal plane, particle size, particle shape, grain boundaries, etc. than ceramic semiconductors. Therefore, it is difficult to control the characteristics such as high sensitivity, improvement of response characteristics, and improvement of gas selectivity. In particular, since carbon nanotubes are vulnerable to heat and oxidation, it has been difficult to modify the surface with ceramics that require high-temperature treatment. Further, since carbon nanotubes are composed only of carbon and do not have functional functional groups, it is difficult to modify the surface with various nanomaterials.
In a mixture of carbon nanotubes and particles such as ceramics, or in the coating and formation of a particle layer such as ceramics on a carbon nanotube layer, the carbon nanotubes and ceramics are only in contact with each other, and the surface of the carbon nanotubes is covered with ceramics or the like. No crystal-grown composite structure has been reported.
When a process involving heat treatment such as 100 ° C. or higher is used in the formation of a composite structure composed of carbon nanotubes and ceramics, the structure, surface, crystallinity, composition, electrical characteristics, sensor characteristics, etc. of the carbon nanotubes are affected. There was a problem that affected.
Conventionally, there has been no technique for controlling the surface exposure ratio of carbon nanotubes in the compounding of ceramics or the like with carbon nanotubes or surface modification.
In
The gas sensor of
Therefore, the surface of the technology for modifying carbon nanotubes into ceramics, semiconductors, etc., the technology for modifying carbon nanotubes with tin oxide-containing nanosheets, etc., and the technology for modifying carbon nanotubes with ceramics, semiconductors, tin oxide-containing nanosheets, etc. There has been a demand for a technique for controlling the coverage of the carbon. Further, in a technique for modifying carbon nanotubes with ceramics, semiconductors, tin oxide-containing nanosheets, etc., there has been a demand for a technique that does not cause oxidation or deterioration of carbon nanotubes by performing treatment at 100 ° C. or lower.
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and in particular, a composite structure useful for being applied to a gas sensor or a molecular sensor for detecting molecules such as ammonia, nonanal, and hydrogen, a method for producing the same, and the composite thereof. According to the present invention, since employing the technical means and technical methods, the carbon material is at least one of carbon nanotubes, graphene and C 60, the surface or the inner surface, or on the surface of both, It is possible to provide a composite structure in which nanosheets made of oxide such as tin oxide nanosheets are formed, a method for producing the same, and a sensor using the composite structure.
Further, according to an aspect of the present invention, a composite structure having high responsiveness to molecules such as ammonia, nonanal, and hydrogen, and a useful composite structure applied to a gas sensor or a molecular sensor for detecting these, and a method for producing the same. In addition, a sensor using the composite structure can be provided.
Further, in another aspect of the present invention, the gas sensor uses a composite structure of carbon nanotubes and tin oxide nanosheets or the like for the sensor sensitive portion, and the sensor uses only the aggregate of the carbon nanotubes for the sensor sensitive portion. In comparison, it is possible to provide a gas sensor having significantly improved sensor characteristics (1.16 times to 15.29 times in the embodiment).
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail based on the embodiments.
The composite structure of the present invention includes carbon nanotubes, graphene, carbon material is at least one of such C 60, in contact with the carbon material, a nanosheet of oxide.
The composite structure of the present invention can be used for sensors such as gas sensors, molecular sensors and solution sensors, battery materials, artificial photosynthesis materials and the like, and can be particularly preferably used for gas sensors. When the composite structure of the present invention is used in a gas sensor, for example, gases such as ammonia, nonanal, hydrogen, methane, and ethylene can be detected with high responsiveness.
When the composite structure of the present invention is used for a sensor, the composite structure is provided on a substrate. In this case, as the substrate , a quartz glass substrate containing SiO 2 as a main component can be typically used, but the substrate is not limited to this, and various materials that have been used as substrates so far are used depending on the application. can do. The in-plane size and thickness of the substrate can also be appropriately set according to the application.
Electrodes, wiring, and the like are provided on the surface of the substrate, and electrodes made of a metal such as platinum are used as the electrodes. As the shape of the electrode, for example, when used in a gas sensor, a comb-shaped electrode can be used.
The thickness of the oxide nanosheet used in the composite structure of the present invention is, for example, 1 to 10 nm, and the in-plane size of the nanosheet can be, for example, 3 to 200 nm. The in-plane size / thickness (aspect ratio) of the nanosheet can be, for example, 1 to 50. The in-plane size here refers to the size in the width and length directions that are perpendicular to the thickness direction of the nanosheet. The width and length directions of the nanosheets are indistinguishable and equivalent.
The composite structure of the present invention, as the carbon material, in particular can be preferably used carbon nanotubes, other, graphene material made of carbon, such as C 60, or may be used a combination of these. When carbon nanotubes are used as the carbon material and the composite structure is used for the sensor, it can be an aggregate of a plurality of carbon nanotubes. The carbon nanotube can be a single-walled carbon nanotube, a double-walled carbon nanotube, a multi-walled carbon nanotube having three or more layers, or a mixture thereof.
When carbon nanotubes are used as the carbon material, it is desirable that they are aggregates, but the number or form thereof can be appropriately set in consideration of the application and the like according to the application. For example, as shown in FIG. 1A, when the composite structure is used as the sensitive portion of the sensor, the sheet-shaped composite structure 3 is arranged on the
Further, in the present embodiment, tin dioxide nanosheets are particularly preferably used as the nanosheets made of oxides, but instead, various metal oxides such as tin monoxide, tin oxide, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, or various metal oxides such as tin oxide, tin oxide, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are used. A combination of these can also be used.
For example, in the composite of tin oxide nanosheets with carbon nanotubes, the surface of the carbon nanotubes can be coated, the inside of the carbon nanotubes can be coated, or both the surface and the inside of the carbon nanotubes can be coated.
In this case, in the present invention, tin oxide nanosheet-modified carbon is formed by crystal growth of tin oxide nanosheets on the surface of carbon nanotubes, the inner surface of carbon nanotubes, or both surfaces without causing oxidation or deterioration of carbon nanotubes. It can be an nanotube. FIG. 1 (b) schematically shows a state in which the
In the composite of tin oxide nanosheets with carbon nanotubes, the coverage on the surface and / or both surfaces of the carbon nanotubes can be changed depending on the application and required properties. Here, the coverage is, the surface or the inside of the carbon nanotube, or the area of S C face of both, surface or internal carbon nanotubes oxidized Suzunanoshito is covered, or the area of the surface of both S definitive when is T, is defined as 100 × S T / S C.
When exerting strong properties of carbon nanotubes, the coverage (100 × S T / S C ) is desirably not more than 50% greater than 0%, more preferably, greater than 20% 0% or less Is desirable.
When exerting strong properties of tin oxide, the coverage (100 × S T / S C ) is desirably about 50-100%, more preferably, from about 80% to 100% is preferable.
When to exhibit characteristics of both the carbon nanotubes and tin oxide coverage (100 × S T / S C ) is desirably about 20-80%, more preferably, from about 30% to 70% is desirable.
When to exhibit characteristics of both the carbon nanotubes and tin oxide by about half, the coverage (100 × S T / S C ) is desirably about 30% to 70%, more preferably, from about 40% to 60% desirable.
In the composite of tin oxide nanosheets with carbon nanotubes, the coating thickness of the tin oxide nanosheets can be changed when the surface and / or inner surface of the carbon nanotubes is coated.
In coating the surface of carbon nanotubes of tin oxide nanosheets, when forming an aggregate in which a plurality of nanosheet pieces are aggregated, for example, in one production, the film thickness of the aggregate in which a plurality of nanosheet pieces are aggregated is measured. In the case of 0.001 μm, the thickness of the aggregate in which a plurality of nanosheet pieces are assembled can be set to 10 μm by repeating the process 10,000 times. The repetition can be easily carried out by using an automatic solution supply device or the like.
In coating the surface of carbon nanotubes, for example, a powder composed of an aggregate of a plurality of tin oxide nanosheet pieces prepared separately can be applied to a substrate coated with carbon nanotubes. In that case, the volume (V = S × h) of the powder composed of aggregates of a plurality of tin oxide nanosheet pieces is relative to the coating area (S (mm 2)) on the substrate coated with carbon nanotubes. By setting (mm 3 )) to V = S × h (mm 3 ), the film thickness of the aggregate in which a plurality of tin oxide nanosheet pieces are aggregated can be set to h (mm). For example, by changing h in the range of 0.00001 to 1, the film thickness of the aggregate in which a plurality of tin oxide nanosheet pieces are assembled can be changed in the range of 0.00001 mm to 1 mm.
In the present invention, in the coating on the inside of the carbon nanotube, the coating film thickness is larger than 0 nm and can be changed within the range up to the inner diameter of the carbon nanotube. For example, when the coverage is 10%, the coating form is uneven, such as an island shape, so that the coating film thickness may be the inner diameter of the carbon nanotube. As an example, a piece of tin oxide nanosheet grown from the inner wall surface of the carbon nanotube may reach beyond the center of the inner diameter of the carbon nanotube to the facing inner wall surface.
In the present invention, in the method of adding the tin-containing solution to the carbon nanotube dispersion liquid as described in the examples, it is unlikely that the solution permeates the inside of the carbon nanotubes, and only the surface of the carbon nanotubes is coated. be able to. Alternatively, by using carbon nanotubes with closed ends, only the surface of the carbon nanotubes can be coated. On the other hand, it is also possible to coat both the surface and the inside of the carbon nanotube by infiltrating the solution into the inside of the carbon nanotube by using a vacuum impregnation method or the like. Instead of the vacuum impregnation method, the inside of the carbon nanotube is made hydrophilic by a light irradiation method, plasma treatment, corona treatment, etc., and a hydrophilic solution such as an aqueous solution or an alcohol solution is permeated into the inside of the carbon nanotube to make the carbon nanotube. It can also be coated on both the surface and the inside. Alternatively, the surface and inside of the carbon nanotube are modified with a molecule having a hydrophobic functional group to make them hydrophobic, and a hydrophobic tin-containing solution or the like is permeated inside the carbon nanotube to coat both the surface and the inside of the carbon nanotube. You can also do it.
Further, by making the surface of the carbon nanotubes hydrophobic, making the inside hydrophilic, and using a hydrophilic solution, it is possible to coat only the inside of the carbon nanotubes. By substituting the hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity between the surface and the inside, the surface of the carbon nanotube is made hydrophilic, the inside is made hydrophobic, and a hydrophobic solution is used, so that only the inside of the carbon nanotube can be coated. Furthermore, in the vacuum impregnation method, light irradiation method, plasma treatment, corona treatment, surface molecular modification method, internal molecular modification method, etc., or in the treatment with a tin-containing solution, the treatment time, plasma and corona strength, etc. By changing the treatment conditions, the coverage of the carbon nanotubes on the surface, the inside, or both surfaces can be changed.
In the present invention, a small amount of synthesis of nanosheets piece made of an oxide, for example, by the synthesis amount of nanosheets pieces would not bonded, it is at least one of "(1) carbon nanotubes, graphene and C 60 A "composite structure characterized by comprising a carbon material and a nanosheet piece made of an oxide in contact with the carbon nanomaterial" can be produced. On the other hand, increases the synthesis amount of nanosheets piece made of an oxide, for example, by the synthesis amount of nanosheets pieces would form aggregates by bonding, "[2] Carbon nanotubes, of graphene and C 60 It is possible to prepare a "composite structure characterized by comprising an aggregate of at least one kind of carbon material and a plurality of nanosheet pieces made of oxide in contact with the carbon nanotubes".
Next, an example of a method for manufacturing the composite structure of the present embodiment will be described.
When producing the composite structure of the present embodiment, for example, carbon nanotubes, graphene, carbon material is at least one of such C 60, an oxide precursor (e.g., if the oxide is tin oxide, tin fluoride) A composite structure of carbon material and oxide nanosheets can be produced by using a method having a step of producing nanosheet pieces made of the oxide on the surface of the carbon material by contacting with the contained liquid. The time for contacting the carbon material with the liquid containing the oxide precursor is set to an appropriate time to obtain the desired composite structure. Here, the production of the nanosheet piece means, for example, when the nanosheet piece is produced on the surface of the carbon nanotube, the nanosheet piece is crystal-grown from the surface to modify the surface of the carbon nanotube.
Further, a substrate having an electrode, by coating carbon nanotubes, graphene, a first liquid containing the carbon material is at least one of such C 60, a first step of producing an assembly in which the carbon material is set Then, the substrate having the electrode on which the aggregate is formed is immersed in a second liquid containing an oxide precursor to prepare a nanosheet piece made of the oxide on the surface of the aggregate. A composite structure of carbon material and nanosheets of oxide can be produced by using the method having the dipping step of. Also in this case, the time for immersing the substrate having the electrode on which the aggregate of the carbon materials is formed in the oxide precursor is also set to an appropriate time for obtaining the desired composite structure.
In the examples described later, in comparing the characteristics of a sensor having a composite of carbon nanotubes and tin oxide-containing nanosheets in the sensor sensitive portion with the characteristics of a sensor having only an aggregate of carbon nanotubes in the sensitive portion, an assembly of carbon nanotubes A sensor having only the body in the sensitive part was separately manufactured, but in addition, for example, based on a sensor composed of a composite structure of carbon nanotubes and tin oxide-containing nanosheets, the tin oxide-containing nanosheets and the like are removed from this sensor. By doing so, it is possible to manufacture a sensor composed of only an aggregate of the carbon nanotubes. Examples of the method for removing tin oxide-containing nanosheets and the like include hydrohalic acid, sulfuric acid, and strong bases. Hydrofluoric acids include hydrofluoric acid (HF), hydrogen chloride (HCl), hydrogen bromide (HBr), and hydrogen iodide (HI). As strong bases, lithium hydroxide (LiOH), sodium hydroxide (NaOH), potassium hydroxide (KOH), rubidium hydroxide (RbOH), cesium hydroxide (CsOH), tetramethylammonium hydroxide (N (CH 3)) ) 4 OH), tetraethylammonium hydroxide (N (C 2 H 5 ) 4 OH) and the like.
Further, in the present invention, as the carbon material has been described mainly carbon nanotubes, in addition to carbon nanotubes, can be used graphene or C 60, etc., in this case, to prepare a dispersion, such as graphene or C 60 , Can be dried to form a film. Further, for the nanosheet of an oxide such as tin oxide, a composite structure can be prepared by adding a solution or a chemical (tin fluoride or the like) for synthesizing an oxide such as tin oxide to the dispersion liquid. .. Collection of graphene or C 60, etc. of the particles, the film of aggregated state in which the individual graphene or C 60 or the like of the particles gathered at random.

According to the present invention, in a gas sensor using a carbon material such as carbon nanotubes, the response value of the sensor can be increased. This increase in responsiveness makes it possible, for example, to detect low-concentration gases. Further, since the gas sensor undergoes sensing due to a gas adsorption reaction, an oxidation reaction, or the like, an increase in the sensor response value means an increase in the gas adsorption reaction, the oxidation reaction, or the like. Therefore, according to the present invention, it is possible to increase the gas adsorption reaction, the oxidation reaction, and the like, and it can be used, for example, for purifying air by gas adsorption, gas separation, a catalyst, and the like.
