The electric double layer capacitor is a capacitor that utilizes the electric energy stored in the electric double layer formed at the interface between the polarization electrode such as activated carbon and the electrolytic solution. Unlike conventional secondary batteries, it has a long life because it does not involve a chemical reaction during charging and discharging, has high cycle characteristics and high output density, and has a wide range of usable temperatures. In addition, it is attracting attention as a power source for driving various devices such as those for automobiles, and in particular, the development of high-capacity and high-output electric double layer capacitors is being promoted.
For example, for the purpose of improving the energy density of an electric double layer capacitor, an electric double layer using a non-porous carbon having a developed multi-layer graphene layer having an average interlayer distance d002 in the range of 0.350 to 0.380 nm as an electrode active material. Capacitors have been proposed (Patent Document 1).
Further, for the purpose of improving the energy density of the electric double layer capacitor, an electric double layer capacitor using an electrode material containing graphene as an electrode active material has been proposed (Patent Document 2).
However, in the conventional electric double layer capacitor, when graphene having shape anisotropy is used as an electrode material, the graphene becomes a layer inside the electrode and hinders the penetration of the electrolytic solution and the ion transfer. As a result, the electric double layer capacitor There was a problem that the internal resistance of the electrode was large. In particular, when graphene having shape anisotropy is sheeted to form an electrode layer, the graphene is naturally oriented in the plane direction, so that the electrical conductivity in the direction perpendicular to the current collector surface is in the direction parallel to the current collector surface. There was a problem that it was smaller.
An object of the present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and when a graphene having shape anisotropy is formed into a sheet, an electric conductivity is provided to the electrode by applying a component inclined in the vertical direction or the vertical direction to the electrode. It is an object of the present invention to provide an electric double layer capacitor which can be improved up to 10 times as much as the conventional one and can significantly reduce the internal resistance.

Graphene can be prepared by mechanically exfoliating graphite or applying a chemical treatment.
Specifically, a method of mechanically peeling graphite with an adhesive tape is known. Further, graphene can be prepared by subjecting graphite to an oxidation treatment to obtain graphene oxide and then subjecting it to a reduction treatment.

<Graphene oxide>
The graphene oxide used for the electrode layer of the electric double layer capacitor according to the present embodiment is a nanosheet exfoliated from graphite by subjecting graphite to an oxidation treatment. For example, graphene containing a carbonyl group and the like can be mentioned. Examples of graphene oxide that can be preferably used include reduced graphene oxide (product name: Exfoliated GO) manufactured by Nishina Materials Co., Ltd.
The graphene oxide according to the present invention contains reduced graphene oxide (sometimes called RGO) obtained by reducing the graphene oxide. In the present invention, in order to distinguish it from RGO, graphene oxide that has not been reduced is sometimes referred to as primary graphene oxide.
Reduced graphene oxide (RGO) is obtained, for example, by removing part or all of the carbonyl group of graphene oxide, which is a nanosheet stripped from graphite in a single layer.
Since the primary graphene oxide has a carbonyl group, a hydroxy group, and the like, it has an affinity for a polar solvent and the like, and is advantageous from the viewpoint of forming an electrode layer.
Reduced graphene oxide has high conductivity because some or all of the carbonyl groups have been removed, and is suitable as an electrode material. On the other hand, since reduced graphene oxide has a hydroxy group, it has an affinity for polar solvents and the like, and is advantageous for constructing a power storage device.
Here, examples of the reduced graphene oxide that can be preferably used include "graphene RGO" manufactured by MICC TEC Co., Ltd. This "graferrite RGO" has a particle size of 4 to 80 μm and a thickness of 2 to 40 nm, and has a linearly connected shape.
The primary graphene oxide can be obtained by a method of oxidizing graphene obtained by a method of mechanically peeling graphite with an adhesive tape. In addition, primary graphene oxide can be obtained by a method of oxidizing graphite. Reduced graphene oxide can be obtained by reducing primary graphene oxide.
An example of obtaining primary graphene oxide by the method of oxidizing graphite is shown below. That is, when a strong oxidizing agent such as potassium permanganate or sulfuric acid is allowed to act on graphite in water, the carbon on the surface of each layer of graphite is oxidized and the surface contains oxygen-containing substituents (carboxyl group, hydroxyl group, epoxide, etc.). ) Is obtained. Graphite oxide exhibits hydrophilicity due to the presence of these substituents, and when dispersed in water, it is exfoliated to obtain an aqueous dispersion of single-layer or multi-layer primary graphene oxide.
The primary graphene obtained as described above has, for example, a structure in which functional groups such as hydroxyl groups and carboxyl groups are left as compared with the primary graphene, unlike graphene, by performing gentle reduction. The reduced graphene oxide having the above is obtained.

Further, in addition to the above, as the binder, for example, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyethylene terephthalate, aromatic polyamide, cellulose, styrene / butadiene rubber, isoprene rubber, butadiene rubber, ethylene / propylene rubber and the like may be used. In addition, thermoplastic elastomer-like polymers such as styrene / butadiene / styrene block copolymer, its hydrogenated product, styrene / ethylene / butadiene / styrene copolymer, styrene / isoprene / styrene block copolymer, and its hydrogenated product. May be used. Further, syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene, ethylene / vinyl acetate copolymer, propylene / α-olefin (2 to 12 carbon atoms) copolymer and the like may be used.
Further, as the binder, an electron conductive conductive polymer or an ion conductive conductive polymer may be used. Examples of the electron-conducting conductive polymer include polyacetylene and the like. In this case, since the binder also exerts the function of the conductive auxiliary agent particles, it is not necessary to add the conductive auxiliary agent.
The content of the binder in the electrode layer is not particularly limited, but is preferably 3% by mass to 30% by mass, preferably 5% by mass to 15% by mass, based on the sum of the masses of the active material, the conductive additive and the binder. It is more preferably%, and most preferably 10% by mass to 15% by mass. By setting the content of the binder in the above range, it is possible to suppress the tendency that the amount of the binder is too small to form a strong active material layer in the obtained electrode layer. In addition, the amount of binder that does not contribute to the electric capacity increases, and the tendency that it becomes difficult to obtain a sufficient volumetric energy density can be suppressed.

It is preferable that the binder is contained in the range of 5% by mass or more and 15% by mass or less in the range of mass% or less. The electrode layer contains the graphene-based substance of the present invention in the range of 70% by mass or more and 80% by mass or less, the conductive auxiliary agent in the range of 15% by mass or more and 20% by mass or less, and the binder in the range of 10% by mass or more and 15% by mass or less. It is more preferable to contain it within the range of.
When the electrode composition is in these ranges, the balance between the electrode strength and the resistance is improved, and the characteristic change under continuous charging becomes small.

[Electrolytic solution]
The electrolytic solution according to this embodiment is contained inside the positive electrode
As the solvent of the non-aqueous electrolyte solution of the electric double layer capacitor, propylene carbonate (abbreviated as PC), ethylene carbonate (abbreviated as EC), dimethyl carbonate (abbreviated as DMC), diethyl carbonate (abbreviated as DEC), acetonitrile (abbreviated as AN), propio. Nitrile, γ-butyrolactone (abbreviated as BL), dimethylformamide (abbreviated as DMF), tetrahydrofuran (abbreviated as THF), dimethoxyethane (abbreviated as DME), dimethoxymethane (abbreviated as DMM), sulfolane (abbreviated as SL), dimethyl sulfoxide (abbreviated as DMSO), Examples thereof include organic solvents such as ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, and methyl cellsolve. These may be used alone, or two or more kinds may be mixed and used in an arbitrary ratio.
The solute concentration in these non-aqueous electrolyte solutions is preferably 0.6 mol / L or more and 2.2 mol / L or less, particularly 0.8 mol / L or more and 2.0 mol / L so that the characteristics of the electric double layer capacitor can be sufficiently brought out. At a concentration of L or less, high electrical conductivity is obtained, which is preferable. In particular, when charging / discharging at a low temperature of −20 ° C. or lower, a concentration of 2.2 mol / L or higher reduces the electrical conductivity of the electrolytic solution, which is not preferable. If it is 0.6 mol / L or less, the electric conductivity is small at both room temperature and low temperature, which is not preferable. For example, when a solution of triethylmethylammonium tetrafluoroborate in acetonitrile (AN) is used as the electrolytic solution, the concentration of triethylmethylammonium tetrafluoroborate is preferably 0.9 to 1.9 mol / L.
[Separator]
As the separator 10, any one of a cellulose non-woven fabric, a polyolefin-based porous film, a aramid fiber non-woven fabric, or a mixture thereof can be used.
The thickness of the separator is preferably 10 μm or more and 50 μm or less. When the thickness is 10 μm or more, the self-discharge due to the internal micro short circuit is excellently suppressed, while when the thickness is 50 μm or less, the energy density and output characteristics of the electric double layer capacitor are excellent.

The obtained slurry was applied onto a TDK release sheet, dried at a temperature of 110 ° C. for 30 minutes, and then pressed by a roll press device to obtain an electrode material sheet having a coating thickness of 50 μm. [Manufacturing of electric double layer capacitors]
The two electrodes obtained above were cut out to 12.5 cm 2 each to prepare a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The positive electrode terminal and the negative electrode terminal are ultrasonically fused to each of the positive electrode and the negative electrode, laminated so as to sandwich the separator between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, wound, and then covered with an aluminum laminate material as an exterior body. <Evaluation of orientation direction>
With respect to the electric double layer capacitor of Example 1, the orientation direction of the graphene-based substance of the present invention dispersed in the electrode layer was evaluated by the magnetic anisotropy evaluation method and the cross-sectional SEM method. In the magnetic anisotropy evaluation, the magnetization angle dependence from the plane direction (zero degree of orientation) to the vertical direction is measured using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and the direction in which the magnetization is maximized is defined as the orientation direction. did. In the cross-sectional SEM evaluation, the orientation direction was determined by binarizing the SEM image taken at a magnification of 10,000 to 50,000 times. The results are shown in Table 1.

The results are shown in Table 1.
As shown in Table 1, in Examples 1 and 2 in which the orientation direction was 90 degrees, the thermal conductivity ratio of the electrode layer sheet was about 10. Since the anisotropy of the electric conductivity of the sheet is known to behave in the same manner as the thermal conductivity anisotropy, the electric conductivity in the direction perpendicular to the collector surface (thickness direction) is collected. It can be predicted that the electrical conductivity in the direction parallel to the surface of the electric body is nearly 10 times higher. In the electric double layer capacitors of Examples 1 and 2, the internal resistance was 13 mΩ, which was reduced to 1/10 as compared with 158 mΩ of Comparative Example 1 which was not oriented.
In Examples 3 to 6 in which the orientation treatment was performed by Method 2 and Method 3, an electric double layer capacitor having an orientation direction of 10 degrees to 60 and an internal resistance of 14 to 25 mΩ was obtained. It was reduced to a maximum of 1/10 as compared with 158 mΩ of Comparative Example 1 which was not oriented.
In Example 7 in which graphene and activated carbon were used as the active materials, the orientation effect was reduced, but the thermal conductivity ratio was 4.0 and the internal resistance was 15 mΩ.
In Comparative Examples 2 and 3, a sufficient orientation effect was not obtained, the thermal conductivity ratios were 0.8 and 0.6, respectively, and the internal resistances were 44 mΩ and 15 mΩ, respectively.
