Abstract
Description
まず、本実施形態に係るディーゼルエンジン(以下、単にエンジンという)の概略構成について説明する。図1は本実施形態に係るエンジン1およびその制御系統の概略構成図である。
ECU100は、図示しないCPU、ROM、RAM等からなるマイクロコンピュータと入出力回路とを備えている。図2に示すように、ECU100の入力回路には、クランクポジションセンサ40、レール圧センサ41、スロットル開度センサ42、エアフローメータ43、NSR触媒74の上流側(燃料添加弁26の下流側)に設けられたA/Fセンサ44、同じくNSR触媒74の上流側(燃料添加弁26の下流側)に設けられた排気温センサ45、水温センサ46、アクセル開度センサ47、吸気圧センサ48、吸気温センサ49、DPF76の上流側圧力と下流側圧力との差圧を検出する差圧センサ4Aなどが接続されている。
次に、本実施形態において、NSR触媒74およびDPF76に対して行われる処理である、NOx浄化処理、S再生処理、DPF再生処理、および、端面詰まり解消処理それぞれの基本動作の概略について個別に説明する。なお、本実施形態は、これら処理のうちの複数を並行することに特徴があるが、この複数の処理を並行する場合の実行タイミング、および、その制御については後述する。
ディーゼルエンジン1においては、大部分の運転領域で排気ガスの空燃比はリーンとなり、通常の運転状態ではNSR触媒74の周囲雰囲気は酸素濃度が高い状態になって、排気ガス中のNOxがNSR触媒74に吸蔵される。そして、NSR触媒74の周囲雰囲気が低酸素濃度となる状況は非常に少ないため、NOxの吸蔵量は徐々に増大し、これに連れてNSR触媒74のNOx吸蔵能力が低下していく。
NSR触媒74では、NOxを吸蔵するのと同様のメカニズムで硫黄成分(SOx)の吸着が生じている。一旦、吸着されたSOxはNOxよりも離脱し難いので、前記NOx浄化処理が行われてもSOxは離脱せずに、次第にNSR触媒74内に蓄積されていき、これによりNSR触媒74のNOx吸蔵能力が低下していく(S被毒)。なお、NSR触媒74内におけるSOxの蓄積量の推定は、基本的には、前回のS再生処理の終了時点からのインジェクタ23の総燃料噴射量と燃料中における硫黄濃度とに基づいて行われる。
ディーゼルエンジン1においては、排気ガス中に含まれるPMをDPF76によって捕集するが、こうして捕集されたPMはDPF76のセルの壁面に堆積して排気ガスの流れの妨げとなり、徐々に通気抵抗が大きくなってゆく。
排気温度が比較的低い状況(例えば350℃以下)でエンジン1の運転が継続されると、排気ガス中の煤とHCとが結合することによるデポジットが生成され、このデポジットがNSR触媒74に堆積することになる。また、前記PMもNSR触媒74に堆積する場合がある。この際、デポジットやPMはNSR触媒74の排気ガス流入側(排気流れ方向の上流側)の端面部分に集中して堆積し、この端面に詰まりを生じさせることになる。このようにNSR触媒74の端面に詰まりが生じてしまうと、NSR触媒74内においてNOxを吸蔵できる領域が制限され、NOx吸蔵可能量が低下してしまうことになる。
次に、本実施形態の特徴である排気浄化処理切替動作について説明する。この排気浄化処理切替動作は、前記DPF再生処理の要求および前記S再生処理の要求の少なくとも一方が生じている際に、NSR触媒74の端面詰まり度合いに応じて、前記インジェクタ23からの燃料噴射制御(より具体的にはアフタ噴射の制御)によるNSR触媒74の入口温度の調整、および、燃料添加弁26からの燃料添加量の制御を行うものである。以下、本実施形態における排気浄化処理切替動作の概要について説明する。
上述した実施形態では、インジェクタ23からのアフタ噴射の制御によってNSR触媒74に導入される排気ガス温度を調整するようにしていた。本変形例では、これに加えて、排気系に備えられたターボチャージャ5での熱回収量を制御することによってNSR触媒74に導入される排気ガス温度を調整するようにしたものである。その他の構成および動作は前記実施形態のものと同様であるので、ここでは、ターボチャージャ5の構成およびこのターボチャージャ5での熱回収量を制御する動作について主に説明する。
以上説明した実施形態および変形例は、排気系7に、NOx浄化触媒としてNSR触媒74が備えられたエンジン1に本発明を適用した場合について説明した。本発明は、NSR触媒74に代えて、または、これに加えてDOC(Diesel Oxidation Catalyst)を備えたエンジンに対しても適用が可能である。

Claims (4)
- 排気通路における排気ガス流れ方向の上流側から下流側に亘ってNOx浄化触媒および排気浄化フィルタが順に配設されていると共に、前記排気通路に設けられて前記NOx浄化触媒の上流側から燃料を供給する燃料添加弁と、内燃機関の燃焼室内に燃料を供給する燃料噴射弁とを備えた内燃機関に適用され、前記燃料添加弁からの燃料の供給および前記燃料噴射弁からの燃料の供給それぞれを制御する制御装置であって、
前記NOx浄化触媒の排気ガス流入側の端面詰まり度合いを推定または検出する端面詰まり認識部と、
前記排気浄化フィルタの再生要求および前記NOx浄化触媒の再生要求の少なくとも一方が生じているとき、前記端面詰まり認識部によって推定または検出された前記NOx浄化触媒の端面詰まり度合いが所定値以上である場合には、その端面詰まり度合いが前記所定値未満である場合に比べて、前記燃料噴射弁から供給される燃料によって調整される前記NOx浄化触媒の入口温度を高く設定し且つ前記燃料添加弁からの燃料の供給量を少なく設定する制御部とを備えていることを特徴とする内燃機関の制御装置。 - 請求項1記載の内燃機関の制御装置において、
前記燃料噴射弁は、内燃機関の膨張行程から排気行程に亘る期間における燃料噴射時期および燃料噴射量を調整することによって前記NOx浄化触媒の入口温度が調整可能となっていることを特徴とする内燃機関の制御装置。 - 請求項1または2記載の内燃機関の制御装置において、
前記NOx浄化触媒の上流側において前記排気通路は第1排気通路と第2排気通路とに分岐されており、前記第1排気通路には第1過給機のタービンホイールが、前記第2排気通路には前記第1過給機よりも体格が大きく構成された第2過給機のタービンホイールがそれぞれ配設されており、
前記排気通路には、前記第1排気通路を流れる排気ガスの流量と前記第2排気通路を流れる排気ガスの流量との比率を調整可能な流量調整手段が設けられており、
前記制御部は、内燃機関の負荷が所定値以下である際における前記排気浄化フィルタの再生要求および前記NOx浄化触媒の再生要求の少なくとも一方が生じているとき、前記端面詰まり認識部によって推定または検出された前記NOx浄化触媒の端面詰まり度合いが所定値以上である場合には、その端面詰まり度合いが前記所定値未満である場合に比べて、前記第1排気通路を流れる排気ガスの流量に対する前記第2排気通路を流れる排気ガスの流量の比率を大きくするように前記流量調整手段を制御する構成となっていることを特徴とする内燃機関の制御装置。 - 請求項1、2または3記載の内燃機関の制御装置において、
前記制御部は、前記排気浄化フィルタの再生要求および前記NOx浄化触媒の再生要求の少なくとも一方が生じているとき、前記端面詰まり認識部によって推定または検出された前記NOx浄化触媒の端面詰まり度合いが前記所定値未満である場合には、前記燃料添加弁からの前記燃料の供給動作として、数秒毎に前記燃料を間欠的に添加するようになっていることを特徴とする内燃機関の制御装置。
