Abstract
Description
1つ以上の実施形態において、膨張可能なフレークグラファイト、膨張フレークグラファイト、又は膨張可能なフレークとも称され得る膨張可能なグラファイトは、インターカラント(intercallant)材料がグラファイト結晶又は粒子のグラファイト層間に含まれる、インターカレートしたグラファイトを含む。インターカラント材料の例としては、ハロゲン、アルカリ金属、硫酸塩、硝酸塩、種々の有機酸、塩化アルミニウム、塩化第二鉄、他の金属ハロゲン化物、硫化ヒ素、及び硫化タリウムが挙げられる。本発明のある特定の実施形態において、膨張可能なグラファイトは、非ハロゲン化インターカラント材料を含む。ある特定の実施形態において、膨張可能なグラファイトは、重硫酸グラファイトとも称される硫酸塩インターカラントを含む。当該技術分野において既知のように、重硫酸塩インターカレーションは、硫酸、及び硫酸塩インターカレーションを触媒する働きをする他の酸化剤で、高結晶質の天然フレークグラファイトを処理することによって達成される。
1つ以上の実施形態において、膨張可能なグラファイトは、相補的難燃剤と併用されてもよい。これらの相補的難燃剤は、本発明のポリマー組成物中で、燃焼抵抗性、特にUL 94及び/又はUL 790によって試験されるような火炎伝播を増加させる、任意の化合物を含んでもよい。概して、有用な難燃剤としては、火炎に曝露されたときに試料の表面にわたって炭化層を形成することによって作用するものが挙げられる。他の難燃剤としては、難燃剤化合物の熱分解時に水を放出することによって作用するものが挙げられる。有用な難燃剤はまた、ハロゲン化難燃剤又は非ハロゲン化難燃剤として分類されてもよい。
1つ以上の実施形態において、熱可塑性マトリクスは、1つ以上の熱可塑性ポリマーを含む。1つ以上の実施形態において、熱可塑性ポリマーは、熱可塑性ポリオレフィンを含む。他の熱可塑性材料としては、熱可塑性加硫物、プロピレン系エラストマー、エチレン系エラストマー、熱可塑性エラストマー(例えば、ブロックコポリマー)、エチレンビニルアセテート、エチレンアルキルアクリレート、及びこれらの混合物が挙げられる。
膨張可能なグラファイト及び相補的難燃剤に加えて、他の追加の成分が熱可塑性ポリオレフィンの1つ以上の層中で分散されてもよい。これらの追加の成分としては、加工助剤、安定剤、及び/又は他の充填剤が挙げられ得る。
1つ以上の実施形態において、熱可塑性ポリオレフィン内に含まれる膨張可能なグラファイトの量は、熱可塑性ポリオレフィンに関して表され得る。例えば、1つ以上の実施形態において、組成物(及び/又は層)は、100重量部の熱可塑性ポリオレフィン当たり、3重量部を超える、他の実施形態では4重量部を超える、他の実施形態では5重量部を超える、他の実施形態では10重量部を超える、並びに他の実施形態では15重量部を超える膨張可能なグラファイトを含んでもよい。これら及び他の実施形態において、組成物(及び/又は層)は、100重量部の熱可塑性ポリオレフィン当たり、50重量部未満、他の実施形態では40重量部未満、並びに他の実施形態では30重量部未満の膨張可能なグラファイトを含んでもよい。1つ以上の実施形態において、組成物(及び/又は層)は、100重量部の熱可塑性樹脂当たり、約3〜約50重量部、他の実施形態では約4〜約40重量部、並びに他の実施形態では約5〜約30重量部の膨張可能なグラファイトを含んでもよい。
1つ以上の実施形態において、膜の1つ以上の層が膨張可能なグラファイトを含む、多層膜が提供される。特定の実施形態において、層は互いに積層され、したがって膜は、積層体と称され得る。他の実施形態において、層は互いに共押出され、したがって膜は、共押出物と称され得る。更に他の実施形態において、膜は、共押出された層及び積層された層を含んでもよい。したがって、積層体という用語は、それらが積層及び/又は共押出によって形成されるかどうかにかかわらず、膜を指すために採用され得る。
1つ以上の実施形態において、本発明の組成物及び膜は、従来の技術を採用することによって調製されてもよい。例えば、種々の成分は、反応押出機に別々に送り込まれ、ペレット化されるか、又は膜若しくは積層シートに直接押出され得る。他の実施形態において、種々の成分は、内部ミキサなどの混合装置内で組み合わされ、混合され、続いて、膜シート又は積層体に製造され得る。
Claims (10)
- 多層膜であって、
i.第1の熱可塑性の第1の層と、
ii.第2の熱可塑性層であって、膨張可能なグラファイトを含む、第2の層と、を含む、多層膜。 - 前記膜が補強スクリムを更に含む、請求項1に記載の膜。
- 前記第1及び第2の層が互いに積層される、請求項1に記載の膜。
- 前記第1の層が、共押出によって形成される少なくとも2つの副層を含む、請求項1に記載の膜。
- 共押出によって形成される前記層のうちの少なくとも1つが、前記膨張可能なグラファイトを含む、請求項4に記載の膜。
- 前記第2の層が、共押出によって形成される少なくとも2つの副層を含む、請求項1に記載の膜。
- 共押出によって形成される前記層のうちの少なくとも1つが、前記膨張可能なグラファイトを含む、請求項6に記載の膜。
- 前記第2の熱可塑性層が、熱可塑性ポリマーを含み、前記第2の層が、100重量部の前記熱可塑性ポリマー当たり、少なくとも5重量部の膨張可能なグラファイトを含む、請求項1に記載の膜。
- 多層熱可塑性膜であって、
その中に膨張可能なグラファイトを分散させた、少なくとも1つの熱可塑性層を含む、多層熱可塑性膜。 - 前記少なくとも1つの層が、前記層の全重量に基づき、少なくとも3重量%の膨張可能なグラファイトを含む、請求項9に記載の膜。
