Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a power supply system including a metal-air primary battery.
As a fuel cell used as a primary battery, a battery using methanol, hydrogen or the like as a fuel is known, and its use as a power source for portable devices is proposed. In addition, it has been proposed to configure a hybrid power source including both this type of fuel cell and secondary battery (see, for example, Patent Document 1), and a technique for using this as a power source for portable devices and the like is also proposed. (For example, refer to Patent Document 2).
On the other hand, a metal-air primary battery is known as a kind of fuel cell. A metal-air primary battery is a battery that uses oxygen in the air as a positive electrode active material and metal as a negative electrode active material, and is interposed between a metal electrode as a negative electrode, an air electrode as a positive electrode, and the metal electrode and the air electrode. And an electrolyte to be configured. In the metal-air primary battery, since the positive electrode active material is oxygen, it is not necessary to fill the battery container with the positive electrode active material. Therefore, the amount of the negative electrode side active material filled in the battery container can be increased, and the discharge capacity can be increased. can do. For this reason, the capacity can be increased as compared with a lithium ion battery having the same volume. Taking advantage of such merits, the metal-air primary battery is expected to be applied to a power source for portable equipment, a power source for a hybrid vehicle or an electric vehicle (see, for example, Patent Document 3).
However, it is difficult to apply a metal-air primary battery to a power source of a device having a large load such as a hybrid vehicle or an electric vehicle because it is not easy to increase the output and the response to a sudden change in load is poor. . For this reason, the metal-air primary battery is currently used exclusively as a power source for portable devices having a small operating current such as hearing aids.
More specifically, since the output current of a metal-air battery increases according to the area where the air electrode is exposed to the atmosphere, the output current can be increased most simply by increasing the number of air electrodes.
However, when a plate-shaped air electrode is similarly arranged on a plate-shaped metal electrode so as to face the cell, it is necessary to expose one surface of the air electrode to air. There can only be air electrodes facing each other on both sides, and the number of air electrodes is limited.
Further, the output current can be increased by increasing the area of the air electrode and the metal electrode of the metal-air primary battery or increasing the facing area by roughening the surface. However, in this case, there is a problem that the cell size increases and the self-discharge amount increases. In addition, when the facing area of the air electrode and the metal electrode is increased, the current in the surface of the metal electrode concentrates toward the lead from which the current is extracted, so the current density becomes excessively high near the lead. The reaction of the negative electrode active material of the metal electrode may progress, and the negative electrode active material may deteriorate. For this reason, it is necessary to take measures to reduce the current density near the leads.
The output current can also be increased by improving the oxygen reduction rate of the air electrode of the metal-air primary battery. However, there is a problem that the amount of an expensive catalyst such as platinum and palladium is increased and the cost is increased, and an increase in output current corresponding to the cost cannot be obtained.
On the other hand, the hybrid power sources shown in
In particular, in
This invention is made | formed in view of the situation mentioned above, and aims at providing the power supply system which can use a metal air primary battery for the power supply of a big load.
In order to achieve the above object, a power supply system comprising a metal-air primary battery in which a metal electrode having a negative electrode active material made of metal or an alloy thereof and an air electrode are arranged to face each other, and supplying the power of the metal-air primary battery to a load. And a secondary battery for storing the output power of the metal-air primary battery and supplying it to the load between the metal-air primary battery and the load.
According to the present invention, in the power supply system, a DC- that converts the output voltage of the metal-air primary battery to a predetermined constant voltage and outputs it to the secondary battery using the cut-off voltage of the metal-air primary battery as a minimum operating voltage. A DC converter is provided.
Further, the present invention is characterized in that the power supply system further includes a backflow prevention means for blocking power inflow from the secondary battery to the metal-air primary battery.
In the power supply system according to the present invention, the metal-air primary battery is a magnesium-air battery in which the negative electrode active material is made of magnesium or an alloy thereof.
According to the present invention, in the power supply system, the secondary battery is a lithium ion secondary battery that includes lithium iron phosphate in a positive electrode and graphite in a negative electrode.
According to this invention, it was set as the structure provided with the secondary battery which stores the output electric power of a metal air primary battery and supplies it to a load between a metal air primary battery and load. As a result, even if the output current of the metal-air primary battery is small relative to the power required by the load, a large amount of power is stored in the secondary battery. It can be used as a load power source and can cope with sudden load fluctuations.
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.

The
As shown in FIG. 1, the
The metal air
As described above, the magnesium-

The secondary battery group 30 is a device that functions as a power storage unit that accumulates (pools) the power that the metal-air

Therefore, in the
In addition to this, the metal-air

In general hybrid vehicles, a lithium ion secondary battery is mounted as a battery, and this lithium ion secondary battery is generally configured as a so-called power battery pack in which maximum output is an important factor. . On the other hand, in the energy battery pack, not the power but the energy density is an important factor.
The
That is, in the
Further, the
Of the three
The DC-
Note that the output current of the
Here, in the lithium ion
The DC-

As shown in FIG. 3, the magnesium-

As described above, according to the embodiment described above, the following effects can be obtained.
That is, a configuration including a plurality of
Thereby, even if the output current of the metal-air
Further, according to the present embodiment, the cut-off voltage of the metal-air

In addition to this, when the remaining capacity of the metal-air

In this case, an alkaline electrolyte can be used as the electrolyte.
Further, according to the present embodiment, the secondary battery included in the secondary battery group 30 is the lithium ion
The above-described embodiment is merely an example of the present invention, and can be arbitrarily modified and applied without departing from the spirit of the present invention.
For example, in the embodiment described above, the series number of magnesium-
