Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a quenching method.
Steel materials used for manufacturing automobile parts, construction machine parts, and the like are subjected to various heat treatments such as quenching in order to modify their physical properties and ensure a predetermined strength. This quenching process is performed, for example, by heating and holding the workpiece at a predetermined temperature and performing soaking, and then rapidly cooling the heated workpiece.
In the quenching process, during soaking, the work is heated and held at a predetermined temperature in a reducing metal protective atmosphere gas in a quenching furnace, thereby preventing quench cracking and a decrease in surface strength due to decarburization.
In the quenching treatment, a modified gas produced by modifying a raw material gas such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), propane or butane or air is usually used as the atmospheric gas.
Such a quenching process is performed by, for example, a
In the mixed gas
However, the
Therefore, from the viewpoint of energy saving and space saving, a method using nitrogen gas and methanol as raw material gases has been proposed as an atmospheric gas, as in the method performed in carburizing and quenching (for example, Patent Document 1). reference). In this method, methanol and nitrogen gas are supplied to a quenching furnace, and an atmosphere gas is generated by thermally decomposing the gas-liquid mixture containing the methanol and nitrogen gas in the quenching furnace.
However, in the above method, when the carbon monoxide gas concentration of the atmospheric gas is set to 20 to 33% by volume as in the case of the atmospheric gas usually used when performing the carburizing and quenching process, Soot and carbon dioxide gas are generated, soot adheres to the work, and the work may become black due to oxidation caused by the carbon dioxide gas.
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and can suppress adhesion of wrinkles to the workpiece and blackening of the workpiece, and quenching the workpiece at a lower running cost than conventional. An object of the present invention is to provide a quenching method.
The quenching method of the present invention is a quenching method for a workpiece made of special steel, and (A) supplying nitrogen gas and methanol into a furnace body heated to a predetermined temperature or higher in a quenching furnace having a stirring fan inside. Then, while stirring with the stirring fan, the methanol is pyrolyzed in the furnace body, and includes 3.5 to 6 vol% carbon monoxide gas and 0.02 to 0.1 vol% carbon dioxide gas. A step of generating an atmospheric gas having a carbon potential of 0.4 to 0.5%, and (B) stopping the supply of the methanol into the furnace body containing the atmospheric gas generated in the step (A). A step of charging the basket containing the workpiece into the furnace main body, and (C) heating the inside of the furnace main body charged with the basket so that the temperature inside the furnace main body exceeds 700 ° C. Meta into And (D) quenching the workpiece while the atmosphere gas generated in the furnace body is stirred by the stirring fan and circulated in the furnace body. The method includes a step of heating and holding at a temperature, soaking the workpiece and soaking the workpiece in a cooling medium.
In the quenching method of the present invention, an atmospheric gas containing 3.5 to 6% by volume of carbon monoxide gas and 0.02 to 0.1% by volume of carbon dioxide gas and having a carbon potential of 0.4 to 0.5%. Is generated. Therefore, quenching can be performed with energy saving and space saving as compared with the case of using a modified gas obtained by modifying propane gas or butane gas.
In addition, in the quenching method of the present invention, since the carbon monoxide concentration in the atmospheric gas is set to 3.5 to 6% by volume, soot and carbon dioxide gas are generated by the Boudor reaction of carbon monoxide gas. While suppressing, the amount of methanol consumed can be reduced.
Furthermore, in the quenching method of the present invention, the supply of methanol into the furnace body is stopped from when the basket is inserted into the furnace body until the temperature inside the furnace body exceeds 700 ° C. Therefore, by stopping the supply of methanol, which is a raw material of carbon monoxide gas, in the furnace main body, which has been lowered from a quenching temperature to a temperature of 700 ° C. or less, which is likely to cause a booth reaction, by charging the basket, the monoxide is removed. While suppressing the generation of soot and carbon dioxide gas due to the Boudouard reaction of carbon gas, the amount of methanol consumed can be reduced.
Therefore, according to the quenching method of the present invention, adhesion of soot to the workpiece and blackening of the workpiece due to oxidation caused by carbon dioxide gas can be suppressed, and the workpiece is quenched at a lower running cost than in the past. be able to.
In the quenching method of the present invention, it is preferable to increase the speed of the atmospheric gas circulation flow in the step (B) with respect to the speed of the atmospheric gas circulation flow generated by the stirring by the stirring fan in the step (A).
According to this quenching method, when the work is charged into the furnace body, the atmosphere gas in the furnace body is circulated quickly to suppress the retention of soot and carbon dioxide gas in the vicinity of the work. Therefore, adhesion of wrinkles to the workpiece and blackening of the workpiece can be more reliably suppressed.
In the quenching method of the present invention, in the step (B), a plurality of baskets containing the work are arranged in the furnace body, and are positioned downstream of the circulation flow of the atmospheric gas in the furnace body. It is preferable that a work is disposed in the central portion of the basket with a space for circulating the atmospheric gas.
According to this quenching method, the atmosphere gas in the furnace body can be efficiently circulated during the soaking process of the workpiece, so that the adhesion of soot to the workpiece and the blackening of the workpiece can be more reliably suppressed. Can do.
According to the quenching method of the present invention, adhesion of wrinkles and the like to the workpiece and blackening of the workpiece can be suppressed, and the workpiece can be quenched at a lower running cost than before.

The concentration of the carbon monoxide gas in the atmospheric gas is 3.5% by volume or more from the viewpoint of preventing oxidation, and 6% by volume or less from the viewpoint of preventing soot generation.
Moreover, the carbon dioxide gas concentration in the atmospheric gas is 0.02 to 0.1% by volume from the viewpoint of preventing soot generation and oxidation.
The carbon potential of the atmospheric gas is 0.4% or more from the viewpoint of preventing decarburization, and 0.5% or less from the viewpoint of suppressing soot generation.

From the viewpoint of preventing oxidation and decarburization, the amount of methanol supplied is preferably 5.0 × 10 −4 m 3 / hour or more with respect to the internal volume of 1.36 m 3 of the
The heating temperature of the nitrogen gas and methanol supplied into the
Next, nitrogen gas is supplied into the furnace
In such a work charging process, in the heating process, the temperature in the
In this step, since the supply of methanol is stopped while continuing the supply of nitrogen gas into the
Therefore, according to the quenching method of the present embodiment, blackening of the workpiece due to adhesion of soot to the workpiece and oxidation with carbon dioxide gas can be suppressed. Further, according to the quenching method of the present embodiment, the amount of methanol consumed in the quenching process can be reduced as compared with the prior art, so that the workpiece can be quenched at a lower running cost than in the prior art.
The supply amount of nitrogen gas in this step is the same as in the heating step.
In the furnace

The supply amount of nitrogen gas in this step and the supply amount of methanol when restarting the supply of methanol are the same as in the heating step.
Next, as shown in FIG. 6, the atmospheric gas generated in the
In the soaking process, nitrogen gas and methanol are supplied into the furnace body 21 (see FIG. 5). The supply amounts of nitrogen gas and methanol in this step are the same as in the heating step (see FIG. 5).
The quenching temperature is 800 ° C. or more from the viewpoint of making the metal structure a more homogeneous austenite phase in order to perform good martensitic transformation, and suppresses the coarsening of the crystal grains in the workpiece, so that an appropriate hardness is obtained. From the viewpoint of ensuring the thickness and suppressing the embrittlement of the workpiece, it is 850 ° C. or lower.
The soaking time is 0.3 hours to 1.5 hours from the viewpoint of obtaining a more homogeneous austenite phase.

It is as follows.
The immersion time of the workpiece in the quenching oil is 10 to 20 minutes from the viewpoint of sufficiently performing the martensitic transformation.
