Abstract
【解決手段】ガラス基板14上に付加回路を形成して、パッシベーション膜4を成膜する。さらに絶縁膜2を成膜した上で、コンタクトホールを形成し、信号線3を成膜して付加回路と接続させる。信号線3および絶縁膜2をパターン形成した後に有機絶縁膜1を形成することで、信号線3および絶縁膜2の段差に依存して、有機絶縁膜1の表面に凹凸形状が形成できる。反射電極10を有機絶縁膜1上に形成することで、反射電極10の表面にも凹凸形状が形成できる。すなわち、有機絶縁膜1の表面凹凸形状を形成するためのフォトリソグラフィー工程を実施する必要がなくなり、製造工程コストを低減することができる。

Description
本発明に係る実施の形態1の画像表示装置として、アクティブ駆動方式の反射型液晶表示装置を例に挙げて説明する。反射型液晶表示装置は、液晶(表示素材に相当)を、反射電極を有する基板と、対向電極を有する基板とで狭んで構成される。反射型液晶表示装置とは、反射電極によって、外光を液晶層側に反射させて、画像を表示するものである。本発明では、さらに反射電極表面に凹凸形状を形成し、外光を散乱させることで、画像表示装置の視認性を向上させている。
本発明に係る実施の形態2の画像表示装置として、反射型液晶表示装置を例に挙げて説明する。本実施の形態2に係る反射型液晶表示装置は、後述するように、信号線3および絶縁膜2のパターン形状以外は、実施の形態1で述べた反射型液晶表示装置の構成と同一であるため、重畳する説明は割愛する。なお、図中の同一符号は同一または相当部分を指す。
Claims (3)
- 表示素材を、反射電極と、対向電極とで狭んで構成される画像表示装置であって、
基板と、
前記基板の上層に形成される第1絶縁層と、
前記第1絶縁層上に形成され、所定のパターン形状を有する配線と、
前記配線上に形成された第2絶縁層と
を備え、
前記第1絶縁層は、前記配線とともに段差を形成しており、
前記第2絶縁層の表面は、前記段差に依存した凹凸形状を有しており、
前記反射電極は、前記第2絶縁層上に形成されており、前記凹凸形状に依存した凹凸形状を有していることを特徴とする画像表示装置。 - 前記配線は、
導通用の導体部と、
前記導体部の側面に備えられた突部と
から成る形状を有することを特徴とする請求項1記載の画像表示装置。 - 前記配線は、直線的または曲線的に蛇行していることを特徴とする請求項1記載の画像表示装置。
