Abstract
【解決手段】機関排気通路内にSOxトラップ触媒11、NOx吸蔵還元触媒を担持したパティキュレートフィルタ13およびNOx吸蔵還元触媒15からなる後処理装置と、これら後処理装置に後処理用燃料を供給するための燃料供給弁17とを配置する。機関の運転期間が一定期間経過する毎に、大気中に排出される有害成分の量を規制値以下に維持しつつ燃焼用燃料と後処理用燃料との燃料全体についての燃料消費量が最小となるように機関の運転パラメータの値および後処理用燃料の供給方法を再設定する。

Description
図1を参照すると、1は機関本体、2は各気筒の燃焼室、3は各燃焼室2内に夫々燃料を噴射するための電子制御式燃料噴射弁、4は吸気マニホルド、5は排気マニホルドを夫々示す。吸気マニホルド4は吸気ダクト6を介して排気ターボチャージャ7のコンプレッサ7aの出口に連結され、コンプレッサ7aの入口はエアクリーナ8に連結される。吸気ダクト6内にはステップモータにより駆動されるスロットル弁9が配置され、更に吸気ダクト6周りには吸気ダクト6内を流れる吸入空気を冷却するための冷却装置10が配置される。図1に示される実施例では機関冷却水が冷却装置10内に導かれ、機関冷却水によって吸入空気が冷却される。
図13を参照すると、まず初めにステップ100において機関の運転期間が予め定められた期間を経過したか否かが判別される。この場合、本発明による実施例では車両の累積運転時間又は車両の累積走行距離又は機関の累積回転数が予め定められた設定値を越えたときに機関の運転期間が予め定められた期間を経過したと判断される。
図15を参照するとまず初めにステップ200においてSOxセンサ18の出力信号、例えば出力電圧Vが読込まれる。次いでステップ201ではSOxセンサ18の電力電圧Vが設定値VXを越えたか否か、即ち排気ガス中のSOx濃度が予め定められた濃度SOYを越えたか否かが判別される。V>VXになると、即ち排気ガス中のSOx濃度が予め定められた濃度SOYを越えるとステップ202に進んでSOxトラップ触媒11の昇温制御が行われる。
図16を参照するとまず初めにステップ300において図8に示すマップから単位時間当り吸蔵されるNOx量NOXAが算出される。次いでステップ301では図14に示すマップから単位時間当り吸蔵されるNOx量の変動量ΔNOXAが算出される。次いでステップ302ではこれらNOXAおよびΔNOXAがNOx吸蔵触媒に吸蔵されているNOx量ΣNOXに加算される。次いでステップ303では吸蔵NOx量ΣNOXが許容値NXを越えたか否かが判別され、ΣNOX>NXとなったときにはステップ304に進んで燃料供給弁17から供給された燃料によってパティキュレートフィルタ13およびNOx吸蔵触媒15に流入する排気ガスの空燃比を一時的にリーンからリッチに切換えるリッチ処理が行われ、ΣNOXがクリアされる。

Claims (12)
- 機関排気通路内に排気ガスの後処理装置を配置し、機関出力を発生するために燃焼室内に供給される燃焼用燃料に加え、後処理装置において排気ガス中の有害成分を処理するための後処理用燃料が供給され、機関の運転パラメータの値が機関の運転状態に応じて予め設定されていると共に後処理用燃料の供給方法が予め設定されている内燃機関において、機関の運転期間が予め定められた期間を経過する毎に、大気中に排出される排気ガス中の有害成分の量を規制値以下に維持しつつ燃焼用燃料と後処理用燃料との燃料全体についての一定走行距離当りの燃料消費量が最小となるように運転パラメータの値および後処理用燃料の供給方法を再設定するようにした内燃機関。
- 車両の累積運転時間又は車両の累積走行距離又は機関の累積回転数が予め定められた設定値を越えたときに機関の運転期間が予め定められた期間を経過したと判断される請求項1に記載の内燃機関。
- 後処理装置の劣化度合が予め定められた劣化度合を越えたときに機関の運転期間が予め定められた期間を経過したと判断される請求項1に記載の内燃機関。
- 機関の運転期間が予め定められた期間を経過する毎に、後処理装置の劣化度合に応じた後処理用燃料の消費量が求められ、この後処理用燃料の消費量と燃焼用燃料の消費量に基づいて、大気中に排出される排気ガス中の有害成分を規制値以下に維持しつつ一定走行距離当りの燃料消費量が最小となるように運転パラメータの値および後処理用燃料の供給方法が再設定される請求項1に記載の内燃機関。
- 機関の運転期間が予め定められた期間を経過する毎に、運転パラメータの値を変化させたときの燃焼用燃料の消費量の変化および排気ガス中の有害成分の量の変化と、この有害成分量の変化および後処理装置の劣化度合に応じた後処理用燃料の消費量の変化とに基づいて、大気中に排出される排気ガス中の有害成分を規制値以下に維持しつつ一定走行距離当りの燃料消費量が最小となるように運転パラメータの値および後処理用燃料の供給方法が再設定される請求項4に記載の内燃機関。
- 運転パラメータの値を変化させたときの燃焼用燃料の消費量の変化および排気ガス中の有害成分の量の変化が予め記憶されており、該有害成分量が変化したときの後処理用燃料の変化が後処理装置の劣化度合の関数として予め記憶されており、機関の運転期間が予め定められた期間を経過する毎に、運転パラメータを種々に変化させたときの燃焼用燃料の消費量と、このときの排気ガス中の有害成分の変化および後処理装置の劣化度合に応じた後処理用燃料の消費量とを求め、これら燃焼用燃料の消費量および後処理用燃料の消費量に基づいて、大気中に排出される排気ガス中の有害成分を規制値以下に維持しつつ一定走行距離当りの燃料消費量が最小となるように運転パラメータの値および後処理用燃料の供給方法が再設定される請求項5に記載の内燃機関。
- 運転パラメータの一つが燃焼用燃料の噴射時期であり、該噴射時期が進角されるに従い燃焼用燃料の消費量および燃焼室から排出されるパティキュレート量が減少し、燃焼室から排出されるNOx量が増大する請求項1に記載の内燃機関。
- 運転パラメータの一つが排気ガス再循環率であり、該排気ガス再循環率が増大されるに従い燃焼用燃料の消費量および燃焼室から排出されるパティキュレート量が増大し、燃焼室から排出されるNOx量が減少する請求項1に記載の内燃機関。
- 後処理装置が、流入する排気ガスの空燃比がリーンのときには排気ガス中に含まれるNOxを吸蔵し流入する排気ガスの空燃比が理論空燃比又はリッチになると吸蔵したNOxを放出するNOx吸蔵還元触媒を有しており、該NOx吸蔵還元触媒からNOxを放出すべくNOx吸蔵還元触媒に流入する排気ガスの空燃比を理論空燃比又はリッチにするときには燃焼室内又はNOx吸蔵還元触媒上流の排気通路内に後処理用燃料が供給され、後処理用燃料の消費量は燃焼室から排出されるNOx量が増大するほど増大し、NOx吸蔵還元触媒の劣化度合が高くなるほど増大する請求項1に記載の内燃機関。
- 後処理装置が、排気ガス中に含まれるパティキュレートを捕獲するためのパティキュレートフィルタを有しており、パティキュレートフィルタ上に捕獲されたパティキュレートを燃焼除去するときには燃焼室内又はパティキュレートフィルタ上流の排気通路内に後処理用燃料が供給され、後処理用燃料の消費量は燃焼室から排出されるパティキュレート量が増大するほど増大し、パティキュレートフィルタの劣化度合が高くなるほど増大する請求項9に記載の内燃機関。
- NOx吸蔵還元触媒がパティキュレートフィルタ上に担持されている請求項10に記載の内燃機関。
- 後処理装置が、NOx吸蔵還元触媒上流の排気通路内に配置されて排気ガス中に含まれるSOxを捕獲しうるSOxトラップ触媒を有しており、該SOxトラップ触媒は排気ガスの空燃比がリーンのもとでSOxトラップ触媒の温度が上昇すると捕獲したSOxが次第にSOxトラップ触媒の内部に拡散していく性質を有しており、SOxトラップ触媒のSOxトラップ率を回復させるためにSOxトラップ触媒の温度を上昇させるときには後処理用燃料が燃焼室内又はSOxトラップ触媒上流の排気通路内に供給され、後処理用燃料の消費量は燃焼室から排出されるSOx量が増大するほど増大し、SOxトラップ触媒の劣化度合が高くなるほど増大する請求項9に記載の内燃機関。
