Description

The present invention relates to an exhaust system for an engine.

An engine mounted on a vehicle such as an automobile includes an exhaust device that silences exhaust sound by sending the exhaust gas from an exhaust pipe to a silencer and then exhausting the exhaust to the outside. Various sensors for detecting the state of exhaust are provided in a portion of the exhaust pipe of the exhaust device positioned upstream of the silencer. For example, in Patent Documents 1 and 2, an oxygen sensor for detecting the oxygen concentration in the exhaust is provided in the exhaust pipe. This oxygen sensor is used for engine air-fuel ratio control and the like.

By the way, the silencer is a component having a large heat capacity in the exhaust system of the engine, and once cooled down when the engine is stopped, it becomes difficult to warm up when exhaust is introduced in the next engine operation. In particular, as the engine operation at this time, when the light load operation with a low exhaust temperature continues, it becomes more difficult to warm up. On the other hand, during the warm-up process of the engine, the exhaust contains a large amount of moisture, and when the exhaust passes through a cool silencer and is cooled, the moisture in the exhaust solidifies and enters the silencer. Water will accumulate. In particular, when driving in a city where the engine is lightly loaded and stopped repeatedly, the silencer does not warm enough to evaporate water in the silencer during engine operation, and water tends to accumulate inside the silencer.

With the water accumulated in the silencer in this way, the vehicle is tilted while traveling or stopped in an inclined state so that the relative position of the exhaust pipe upstream of the exhaust pipe with respect to the silencer is lowered. When inclined, the water in the silencer tries to flow backward toward the upstream of the exhaust pipe. At this time, if the engine is in an engine operating state where the exhaust flow rate is low, such as during idling of the engine, the water to be backflowed cannot be pushed back to the silencer side by exhaust gas, and the water is detected by a sensor in the exhaust pipe. It will take. In the exhaust pipe sensor, the element is formed of ceramics having excellent heat resistance, and when the element is exposed to the exhaust gas and is at a high temperature, it is rapidly cooled with water as described above. There is a risk of abnormalities such as element cracking.

The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and its purpose is to suppress the water accumulated in the silencer due to the inclination of the vehicle from flowing toward the sensor provided in the exhaust pipe. An object of the present invention is to provide an engine exhaust device capable of suppressing water from being applied to a sensor of an exhaust pipe.

In the following, means for achieving the above object and its effects are described.
In order to achieve the above object, according to the first aspect of the present invention, in an exhaust system for an engine that sends exhaust from an engine mounted on a vehicle from an exhaust pipe provided with a sensor to a silencer, the sensor in the exhaust pipe A wall that restricts the flow of liquid to the upstream side of the exhaust gas is formed on the inner lower surface of the portion between the silencer.

When the vehicle is tilted so that the relative position of the exhaust pipe upstream side with respect to the silencer becomes low with water accumulated in the silencer, the water accumulated in the silencer moves toward the exhaust pipe upstream side, that is, the sensor side. Try to backflow. However, a wall is formed on the lower surface between the sensor and the silencer in the exhaust pipe, and the reverse flow of the water is regulated by the wall, so that it is possible to prevent the reverse water from being applied to the sensor.

Examples of sensors provided in the exhaust pipe include sensors for detecting the exhaust state, such as an oxygen sensor for detecting the oxygen concentration in the exhaust and an exhaust temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of the exhaust.

The invention according to claim 2 is characterized in that, in the invention according to claim 1, the wall is formed so as to be inclined toward the exhaust downstream side under a vehicle horizontal state.
According to the above configuration, when the vehicle is tilted so that the relative position of the exhaust pipe upstream side with respect to the silencer becomes low, the wall rises, so that the upper end of the wall comes to a higher position and faces the sensor. Backflowing water is difficult to cross the wall. In addition, by tilting the wall toward the exhaust downstream side, the area of the radial cross section of the exhaust pipe that is blocked by the wall can be reduced, and a larger exhaust flow area of the exhaust pipe can be secured. Therefore, by tilting the wall as described above, it is possible to suppress the flow of exhaust gas through the exhaust pipe as much as possible while effectively suppressing the back flow of water toward the sensor. Can do.

In addition, as an inclination aspect in the vehicle horizontal state in the said wall, the inclination angle with respect to the vertical surface of the wall at this time is a case where the vehicle is inclined in a direction in which the relative position of the exhaust pipe upstream of the exhaust pipe with respect to the silencer is lowered. It is preferable to adopt a mode in which the vehicle is smaller than the maximum inclination angle of the vehicle.

According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the first or second aspect of the present invention, the wall is formed between the sensor and the silencer in the exhaust pipe and at a position near the silencer. It is a summary.

According to the above configuration, when the water accumulated in the silencer due to the inclination of the vehicle tries to flow backward toward the upstream side of the exhaust pipe, the water is blocked by the wall at a position near the silencer. For this reason, it can suppress more reliably that the water which tries to flow backwards on the sensor located upstream of the silencer in the exhaust pipe is applied.

Hereinafter, an embodiment in which the present invention is embodied in an exhaust system for an automobile engine will be described with reference to FIGS.
As shown in FIG. 1, the exhaust device of the engine 2 mounted on the front portion of the automobile 1 is connected to the engine 2 and extends rearward, and the exhaust pipe 3 sends exhaust of the engine 2. A silencer 4 is provided. And in the engine 2, the exhaust sound is silenced by sending the exhaust gas from the exhaust pipe 3 to the silencer 4 and then discharging it to the outside. An upstream portion of the silencer 4 in the exhaust pipe 3 is provided with an oxygen sensor 5 that detects the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas and outputs a signal corresponding to the oxygen concentration as a sensor for detecting the exhaust state. It has been.

By the way, in a state where water has accumulated in the silencer 4, when the automobile 1 is tilted forward when the vehicle is running or stopped, the portion of the exhaust pipe 3 upstream of the silencer 4 where the oxygen sensor 5 is provided is lowered. The water in the silencer 4 may flow backward toward the upstream side of the exhaust pipe 3. If the oxygen sensor 5 is subjected to the water flowing backward, it causes abnormalities such as element cracks in the sensor 5. In order to avoid such a problem, a portion of the exhaust pipe 3 between the oxygen sensor 5 and the silencer 4 has a liquid on the exhaust upstream side (left side in the drawing) of the exhaust pipe 3 on the inner lower surface of the part. A wall 6 that restricts the flow of is formed.

FIG. 2A is an enlarged schematic view of the exhaust pipe 3 where the oxygen sensor 5 and the wall 6 are provided, and the silencer 4. Moreover, FIG.2 (b) is sectional drawing which looked at the said FIG.2 (a) from the arrow AA direction. As can be seen from the figure, the wall 6 is connected between the oxygen sensor 5 and the silencer 4 in the exhaust pipe 3 and at a position near the silencer 4, more specifically, the silencer 4 in the exhaust pipe 3. The lower part of the exhaust pipe 3 is formed so as to be separated into the exhaust upstream side and the exhaust downstream side.

Here, the automobile 1 tilts forward, and as shown in FIG. 3, the height position of the exhaust pipe 3 upstream of the silencer 4 and the portion to which the oxygen sensor 5 is attached is the silencer. 4, the water accumulated in the silencer 4 overflows to the exhaust pipe 3 side, and flows back to the upstream side (left side in the figure) of the exhaust pipe 3, that is, the oxygen sensor 5 side. try to. However, this water is blocked by the wall 6 at a position from the silencer 4 in the exhaust pipe 3, and the reverse flow toward the oxygen sensor 5 of the water is restricted. For this reason, it is possible to prevent the oxygen sensor 5 in the exhaust pipe 3 from being splashed with water that is going to flow backward.

FIG. 4 is an enlarged view showing a portion of the exhaust pipe 3 where the wall 6 is provided. As can be seen from the figure, the wall 6 is formed in a horizontal state of the automobile 1 so as to be inclined toward the exhaust downstream side. In this case, as described above, when the automobile 1 tilts forward, the wall 6 rises as shown by a two-dot chain line in FIG. 5, and the upper end of the wall 6 is horizontal when the automobile 1 is horizontal (solid line in the figure). ) Is higher by a distance H than For this reason, it is difficult for the water that tries to flow backward from the silencer 4 toward the oxygen sensor 5 over the wall 6. In addition, by tilting the wall 6 as described above, the area S2 of the portion blocked by the wall 6 in the cross-sectional area M (see FIG. 4) of the radial cross section of the exhaust pipe 3 is reduced as much as possible. It is possible to secure a larger exhaust flow area S1.

In addition, as an inclination aspect of the wall 6 in the horizontal state of the automobile, an aspect in which the inclination angle θ with respect to the vertical plane F of the wall 6 at this time is smaller than the maximum inclination angle of the automobile 1 in the forward inclination state is adopted. The This is because the forward tilt of the automobile 1 as described above is usually performed at an inclination angle smaller than the maximum inclination angle of the automobile 1 at that time. This is because it is preferable to incline the wall 6 as described above in order to make the upper end of the wall 6 as high as possible as close to the vertical plane F as possible.

According to the embodiment described in detail above, the following effects can be obtained.
(1) A wall 6 is formed on the inner lower surface of the exhaust pipe 3 between the oxygen sensor 5 and the silencer 4. Therefore, when the automobile 1 tilts forward and the water accumulated in the silencer 4 tries to flow backward to the oxygen sensor 5 side (exhaust upstream side) of the exhaust pipe 3, the reverse flow of the water is restricted by the wall 6. It is possible to suppress the reversely flowing water from being applied to the oxygen sensor 5. And it can suppress that abnormality, such as an element crack, arises in the sensor 5 when water splashes on the oxygen sensor 5.

(2) The wall 6 is formed so as to be inclined to the exhaust downstream side in the horizontal state of the automobile 1. For this reason, when the automobile 1 is tilted forward, the upper end of the wall 6 can be positioned higher. Further, by tilting the wall 6 toward the exhaust downstream side, the area S2 of the portion of the radial pipe cross-section that is blocked by the wall 6 is reduced, and the exhaust flow area S1 of the exhaust pipe 3 is ensured to be larger. Is possible. As described above, it is possible to suppress the flow of the exhaust gas in the exhaust pipe 3 from being inhibited by the wall 6 as much as possible while effectively suppressing the back flow of water to the oxygen sensor 5.

(3) The inclination angle θ of the wall 6 with respect to the vertical plane F is set to a value smaller than the maximum inclination angle when the automobile 1 is inclined forward. For this reason, when the automobile 1 is tilted forward in a normal direction, that is, when it is tilted forward less than the maximum tilt angle, the wall 6 is raised compared to when the automobile 1 is horizontal, and the wall 6 is brought close to the vertical plane F to It becomes possible to make the upper end as high as possible. Therefore, water that tends to flow backward from the silencer 4 toward the upstream side of the exhaust pipe 3 when the automobile 1 is tilted forward is more difficult to cross the wall 6.

(4) The wall 6 is formed so as to be located slightly upstream from the portion of the exhaust pipe 3 connected to the silencer 4. For this reason, when the water accumulated in the silencer 4 due to the forward tilt of the automobile 1 tries to flow backward toward the upstream of the exhaust pipe 3, the water is blocked by the wall 6 at a position near the silencer 4. Therefore, it is possible to more surely prevent the oxygen sensor 5 in the exhaust pipe 3 from being splashed with the water that is going to flow backward.

In addition, the said embodiment can also be changed as follows, for example.
The wall 6 is not necessarily inclined, and may be formed so as to be orthogonal to the exhaust pipe 3, that is, on the vertical plane F in FIG.

Although the wall 6 is provided slightly upstream from the connection portion of the exhaust pipe 3 with the silencer 4, the wall 6 is further exhausted, such as an intermediate position between the oxygen sensor 5 and the silencer 4 and a position near the oxygen sensor 5. It is also possible to provide it upstream.

The present invention is applied to the engine 2 provided with an oxygen sensor as a sensor for detecting the exhaust state in the exhaust pipe 3, but other sensors such as an exhaust temperature sensor for detecting the exhaust temperature are provided as a sensor for detecting the exhaust state. The present invention may be applied to other engines.
