Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a temperature control base for an ink jet printer that enables temperature control of the ink jet printer, an ink jet printer head with a temperature control function, and an ink jet printer.
As a recording method of an ink jet printer, a method of ejecting ink droplets by the pressure of bubbles generated by heat of a heating element, and a method of ejecting ink droplets by a mechanical pressure accompanying a volume change generated by distortion of a piezoelectric element, Is used as a representative method. Regardless of which method is used, the operation principle of an ink jet printer is to discharge ink from the nozzle by increasing the pressure in the pressure chamber filled with ink and communicating with the nozzle by the operation of the drive element (heating element, piezoelectric element). It is. For this reason, a drive circuit for driving a drive element is indispensable for an ink jet printer head. Such a drive circuit is a circuit board composed of small electronic components such as a semiconductor integrated circuit, a capacitor, and a resistor. It has been realized. Such a circuit board is formed integrally with the ink jet printer head because of the structure that the driving elements provided corresponding to each of the multiple nozzles must be driven individually. It is common.
However, the circuit board constituting the drive circuit for driving the drive element is exposed to a high temperature environment due to heat generated by the semiconductor integrated circuit. For this reason, electrical characteristics are likely to deteriorate or become unstable. For this reason, in an inkjet printer head, proposals have been made for cooling a circuit board (for example, Patent Document 1).
In an inkjet printer head, it is desirable to cool the circuit board as much as possible. On the other hand, in recent years, the use of ink having a high viscosity has attracted attention as an ink. Typically, there is an ink called a hot melt ink whose melting point is considerably higher than room temperature. Patent Document 1 specifies that when hot-melt ink is used, the ink tank is maintained at a high temperature of about 120 ° C. (paragraph 0035). Since the hot melt ink is solidified in the ink tank when the ink jet printer is not in operation, the ink supply path and pressure from the ink tank to the pressure chamber are heated and melted by a heater provided in the ink tank during printing. The chamber is also heated.
In recent years, inks that are not hot-melt inks but have a higher viscosity than general water-based inks, such as ultraviolet curable inks (UV inks), are used for industrial applications and industrial applications. Also attracting attention. If such an ink having a high viscosity is used, printing can be performed using a material that is difficult to print with conventional water-based inks such as metal, glass, and film, as a recording medium. When ink having a high viscosity is used, it is necessary to control the temperature of the pressure chamber in order to maintain the temperature of the pressure chamber within an appropriate range.
As described above, when a special ink such as a hot melt ink or a high viscosity ink is used as the ink, temperature control of the pressure chamber or the like is required. On the other hand, as described above, it is necessary to cool the drive IC and the like mounted on the circuit board that becomes high in temperature. For this reason, it is necessary to prevent the cooling action of the circuit board portion and the temperature control of the pressure chamber from interacting with each other.
An object of the present invention is to prevent the cooling operation of the driver IC of the drive waveform generation unit and the temperature control of the pressure chamber of the inkjet printer head from interacting with each other.

Have Includes a layer, the.
An ink jet printer head according to the present invention includes an ink discharge unit that discharges the ink from the nozzle by increasing the pressure in the pressure chamber filled with ink and communicating with the nozzle by the operation of the drive element, and for driving the drive element. A drive waveform generating section that generates a drive waveform; a first base having a first fluid flow path in which the ink discharge section is fixed, and a fluid taken from outside is circulated inside and discharged to the outside; and the drive A second base having a second fluid flow path in which a waveform generating section is fixed and a fluid taken in from outside is circulated inside and discharged to the outside is connected to the first base and the second base A fixing portion to be fixed; and a heat insulating layer provided between the first base and the second base and having a heat insulating effect.
An ink jet printer of the present invention includes the ink jet printer head of the present invention, and further outputs a drive signal to the drive waveform generation unit based on an image signal and a transport mechanism that relatively moves the ink jet printer head and the recording medium. Control means, an ink supply unit for supplying ink to the ink discharge unit, a fluid supply unit for supplying fluid to the first fluid channel and the second fluid channel, and the first fluid A temperature control unit configured to independently control the temperature of the fluid supplied to the flow path and the fluid supplied to the second fluid flow path.
According to the present invention, the temperature of the first base and the second base can be separately and independently controlled by the liquid flowing through the first fluid channel and the second fluid channel, Since the heat insulating layer is interposed between the base and the second base, the temperature controlled by the first base and the temperature controlled by the second base interact with each other. This can be prevented.
A first embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.
FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of an

FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the
The
As shown in FIG. 2, the
The drive
The two
FIG. 4A is a perspective view showing the

As described above, the ink

The
The
The
In such a configuration, when the
Ink is consumed in the

On the other hand, the ink supplied to the
For this reason, as an example, assuming that hot melt ink is used as the ink, the temperature of the
From the circumstances as described above, in the

The same parts as those in the first embodiment or the second embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals, and the description thereof is also omitted.
FIG. 11 is a perspective view of the
In such a configuration, the
