Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a light guide plate used for various lighting devices mounted on vehicles, liquid crystal display devices, and the like, and a surface light source body including the same.
A back lighting device such as an instrument panel, a tail lamp, or a winker mounted on a car incorporates a light guide plate that emits light uniformly. The light guide plate is made of a transparent plate-like molded body, and receives light from a cold cathode tube (fluorescent lamp) such as a rod or U-shaped light source, and emits light in a planar shape. In addition, liquid crystal display devices used in personal computers, mobile phones, PDAs, etc. are also equipped with a light guide plate in order to cope with demands for thinning, lightening, power saving, high brightness and high definition. It has been incorporated. Such a light guide plate constitutes a surface light source body together with a light source and is used in various devices.
The light guide plate is preferably formed of a material with low light attenuation, and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), which has low light attenuation, is lightweight, and has excellent molding processability, has been optimal. . The total light transmittance of PMMA is at a level of 92 to 94% and has excellent transparency.
However, since PMMA is inferior in heat resistance, impact resistance, flame retardancy, etc., it has a problem that the use environment of the light guide plate is limited. For example, in-vehicle instrument panels, tail lamps, winkers and other back lighting devices require light guide plates with heat resistance and impact resistance of 120 ° C or higher and a drop weight impact strength of 10J or higher. For this reason, PMMA cannot be used. In addition, devices such as personal computers, mobile phones, and PDAs tend to generate more heat inside them, so materials with higher heat resistance are required, and more recently, especially for mobile phones. Optical plates are also required to have improved impact resistance.
Under these circumstances, aromatic polycarbonate resins having excellent mechanical properties such as impact resistance, heat resistance, and electrical properties have recently been used in place of PMMA.
However, while the aromatic polycarbonate resin has such excellent characteristics, it has a drawback of low melt fluidity. Therefore, when manufacturing a light guide plate from an aromatic polycarbonate resin by an injection molding method, inconvenience is likely to occur. For example, the light guide plate has a wedge-shaped cross section with a uniform inclined surface, and a prismatic uneven pattern is formed on the inclined surface to form an irregular reflection portion. There is. When manufacturing such a light guide plate, use a mold for injection molding with a concavo-convex part formed in a part of the cavity, and transfer the concavo-convex part to a resin to form an irregular reflection part consisting of a concavo-convex pattern is doing. However, when an aromatic polycarbonate resin having low melt fluidity is used as a raw material, it has been difficult to transfer the uneven portions satisfactorily. For this reason, a good irregular reflection portion is not formed on the obtained light guide plate, and problems such as a decrease in luminance may occur.
As such a technique, there is a method of reducing the molecular weight of an aromatic polycarbonate itself that is a matrix resin in a resin composition containing an aromatic polycarbonate resin. In addition, a method of modifying an aromatic polycarbonate terminal (see Patent Document 1) and a method of introducing a copolyester carbonate having an aliphatic segment (see Patent Document 2) are disclosed. Moreover, as an aromatic polycarbonate with good melt flowability, an aromatic polycarbonate having a viscosity average molecular weight in the range of 10,000 to 30,000 containing a specific structure of 50 to 5,000 ppm, obtained by a transesterification reaction of an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a carbonic acid diester ( (See Patent Document 3).
However, in the method of lowering the molecular weight of the polycarbonate resin itself, which is a matrix resin, the melt fluidity and the impact resistance are in a trade-off relationship, and if it is attempted to improve the melt fluidity and transferability, the impact resistance is reduced. There was a problem that it had to be sacrificed. Further, the techniques described in Patent Document 1 and Patent Document 2 have a drawback in that the heat resistance is lowered even if the melt fluidity and transferability can be slightly improved. On the other hand, with the technique described in Patent Document 3, sufficient improvement effects such as melt fluidity and transferability cannot be obtained.
The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and comprises an aromatic polycarbonate resin composition having mechanical properties such as impact resistance, heat resistance, transparency, and melt fluidity. To provide a high-performance light guide plate that can be used in a wide range of applications without being restricted in use environment and that is well-formed and suppresses poor performance such as a decrease in luminance, and a surface light source body including the same With the goal.

The surface light source body of the present invention includes the light guide plate and a light source that emits light toward the light guide plate.
According to the present invention, it is composed of an aromatic polycarbonate-based resin composition having both mechanical properties such as impact resistance, heat resistance, transparency, and melt fluidity, and can be used in a wide range of applications without limiting the use environment. In addition, it is possible to provide a high-performance light guide plate that can be used in the present invention and that is well-formed and suppresses poor performance such as a decrease in luminance, and a surface light source body including the same.
The light guide plate of the present invention is composed of a resin composition in which a fluidity improver (B) is blended with an aromatic polycarbonate resin (A), and the surface light source body of the present invention is such a light guide plate. And a light source that emits light toward the light guide plate. Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail.
[Aromatic polycarbonate resin (A)]
The resin composition used for the light guide plate of the present invention contains an aromatic polycarbonate resin (A).
The aromatic polycarbonate resin (A) used here is not particularly limited, and 4,4′-dioxydiaryl typified by 2,2-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) propane (bisphenol A) polycarbonate and the like. Examples include alkane-based polycarbonate.
Such an aromatic polycarbonate resin (A) can be produced by various known methods. For example, when producing 2,2-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) propane-based polycarbonate, 2,2-bis (4 -Hydroxyphenyl) propane as a raw material, a method of reacting by blowing phosgene in the presence of an alkaline aqueous solution and a solvent, and 2,2-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl) propane and a carbonic acid diester in the presence of a catalyst. The method of transesterification is mentioned.
The molecular weight of the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A) may be appropriately determined as desired, and is not particularly limited. However, when the viscosity average molecular weight is in the range of 15,000 to 25,000, it is preferable from the viewpoint of molding processability of the light guide plate.
[Flowability improver (B)]
The fluidity improver (B) is an aromatic vinyl monomer (b1) 0.5 to 99.5 mass%, a monomer (b2) represented by the following formula (1) 0.5 to 99.5 And a monomer mixture composed of 0 to 40% by mass of the other monomer (b3) [provided that the total of the monomers (b1) to (b3) is 100% by mass. ] And is blended with the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A).
This fluidity improver (B) exhibits a remarkable melt fluidity modification effect by exhibiting a phase separation behavior during melt kneading with respect to the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A). ) And a light guide plate, it exhibits good compatibility (affinity) in its operating temperature range, and no peeling is observed. Therefore, according to such a fluidity improver (B), without impairing the excellent characteristics of the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A), that is, mechanical properties such as impact resistance, heat resistance, transparency, etc. The melt fluidity can be improved to an unprecedented high level. Moreover, according to such a fluidity improver (B), in addition to the melt fluidity, the chemical resistance (solvent resistance) of the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A) can be improved. Ease of handling when incorporating into various devices is improved.
The fluidity improver (B) includes a mixing ratio (% by mass) of each monomer in the monomer mixture before polymerization, and a content (% by mass) of each monomer constituent unit in the polymer after polymerization. ) Is preferably the same. In order to obtain such a polymer, the polymerization rate of the monomer mixture is preferably 90% by mass or more. A more preferable polymerization rate is 95 mass% or more, More preferably, it is 97 mass% or more. When the polymerization rate is 90% by mass or more, the mixing ratio (% by mass) of each monomer in the monomer mixture before polymerization and the content (mass of each monomer constituent unit in the polymer after polymerization) %) Are almost identical. When the polymerization rate is less than 90% by mass, the mixing ratio (% by mass) of each monomer in the monomer mixture and the content (mass of monomer constituent units contained in the polymer after polymerization) %) May be different. Further, it is not preferable because it is necessary to purify the unreacted monomer when the obtained polymer is recovered.
The aromatic vinyl monomer (b1) is an essential component for imparting a melt fluidity modifying effect and a chemical resistance improving effect to the fluidity improver (B).
Specific examples of the aromatic vinyl monomer (b1) include styrene, α-methylstyrene, p-methylstyrene, p-methoxystyrene, o-methoxystyrene, 2,4-dimethylstyrene, chlorostyrene, bromostyrene, and the like. These may be used singly or in combination of two or more, but among these, since the melt fluidity modification effect and the chemical resistance improvement effect are higher, styrene, It is preferable to use α-methylstyrene, more preferably styrene.
The (meth) acrylic acid ester monomer (b2) represented by the above formula (1) has excellent compatibility with the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A) with respect to the fluidity improver (B), and aromaticity. It is an essential component imparting peel resistance from the group polycarbonate resin (A).
Specific examples of the (meth) acrylic acid ester monomer (b2) include phenyl (meth) acrylate, 4-t-butylphenyl (meth) acrylate, bromophenyl (meth) acrylate, dibromophenyl (meth) acrylate, 2 , 4,6-tribromophenyl (meth) acrylate, monochlorophenyl (meth) acrylate, dichlorophenyl (meth) acrylate, trichlorophenyl (meth) acrylate, and the like. More than one species may be used in combination, but among these, phenyl methacrylate is particularly preferable because it can provide more excellent compatibility and peeling resistance.
The content of the aromatic vinyl monomer (b1) in the monomer mixture is 0.5 to 99.5% by mass. When the content of the aromatic vinyl monomer (b1) exceeds 99.5% by mass, the compatibility of the fluidity improver (B) with the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A) becomes insufficient. When the light guide plate is produced from a resin composition in which the fluidity improver (B) is blended with the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A), the peeling resistance is lowered, causing the layer peeling and the mechanical properties such as the rigidity of the light guide plate. There is a possibility of damaging the characteristics. On the other hand, if the content of the aromatic vinyl monomer (b1) is less than 0.5% by mass, the compatibility with the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A) becomes excessive, and does not show sufficient phase separation behavior during melt-kneading, The melt fluidity modification effect tends to decrease, and the chemical resistance improvement effect may be insufficient. Therefore, from these balances, the upper limit of the content of the aromatic vinyl monomer (b1) is 99.5% by mass, more preferably 95% by mass, and still more preferably 90% by mass. The lower limit is 0.5% by mass, preferably 10% by mass, more preferably 20% by mass, still more preferably 50% by mass, and most preferably 70% by mass.
Moreover, content of the (meth) acrylic acid ester monomer (b2) in a monomer mixture is 0.5-99.5 mass%. When the content of the (meth) acrylic acid ester monomer (b2) exceeds 99.5% by mass, the compatibility with the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A) becomes excessive, and sufficient phase separation behavior is exhibited during melt kneading. In addition, the melt fluidity modification effect tends to decrease, and the chemical resistance improvement effect may be insufficient. On the other hand, if it is less than 0.5% by mass, the peel resistance is lowered due to insufficient compatibility of the fluidity improver (B) with the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A), and the aromatic polycarbonate resin. When a light guide plate is produced from a resin composition in which the fluidity improver (B) is blended with (A), delamination may occur, and mechanical properties such as rigidity of the light guide plate may be impaired. Therefore, from these balances, the upper limit of the content of the (meth) acrylic acid ester monomer (b2) is 99.5% by mass, preferably 90% by mass, more preferably 80% by mass, still more preferably 50% by mass, most preferably 30% by mass. A minimum is 0.5 mass%, More preferably, it is 5 mass%, More preferably, it is 10 mass%.
As described above, the polymer used as the fluidity improver (B) has excellent compatibility with the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A), and the transparency of the mixture with the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A) is good. In particular, when the content of the aromatic vinyl monomer (b1) and the (meth) acrylic acid ester monomer (b2) in the monomer mixture is within a specific range, extremely high transparency is brought about. There are two specific ranges, when the aromatic vinyl monomer (b1) is 0.5 to 40% by mass and the (meth) acrylic acid ester monomer (b2) is 60 to 99.5% by mass; This is a case where the aromatic vinyl monomer (b1) is 60 to 99.5% by mass and the (meth) acrylic acid ester monomer (b2) is 0.5 to 40% by mass.
The monomer mixture contains 40% by mass or less of the aromatic vinyl monomer (b1) and the other monomer (b3) copolymerizable with the (meth) acrylic acid ester monomer (b2). It may be included in the range.
The other monomer (b3) is an α, β-unsaturated monomer, and there is no particular limitation as such, but methyl (meth) acrylate, ethyl (meth) acrylate, butyl (meth) acrylate Reactive functionalities such as alkyl (meth) acrylates such as 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, lauryl (meth) acrylate, stearyl (meth) acrylate, (meth) acrylic acid, 2-hydroxyethyl (meth) acrylate, glycidyl (meth) acrylate (Meth) acrylate having a group, vinyl benzoate, vinyl acetate, maleic anhydride and the like may be mentioned, and these may be used alone or in combination of two or more. These contents are 40 mass% or less in a monomer mixture, More preferably, it is 30 mass% or less, More preferably, it is 20 mass% or less. When these contents become excessive, the melt fluidity modification effect and chemical resistance improvement effect of the fluidity improver (B) may be reduced.
The polymer used as the fluidity improver (B) preferably has a mass average molecular weight of 5,000 to 200,000. When the mass average molecular weight is less than 5,000, relatively low molecular weight substances increase, and thus various functions such as heat resistance and rigidity of the resin composition containing the fluidity improver (B) may be reduced. . In addition, when the resin composition is melt-molded, smoke, mist, mechanical stains, or the like may occur, or the obtained light guide plate may have poor appearance such as fish eyes or silver. On the other hand, if the mass average molecular weight exceeds 200,000, the melt viscosity of the polymer itself increases, and there is a possibility that a sufficient melt fluidity modification effect cannot be obtained.
Furthermore, when the resin composition is required to have good transparency at high temperature (haze temperature dependency), a higher mass average molecular weight tends to be preferred, and the preferred lower limit of the mass average molecular weight is 10,000. , More preferably 15000, even more preferably 30000, and most preferably 50000. Further, when a high melt fluidity modification effect is required, a lower mass average molecular weight tends to be preferable, and the upper limit of the preferred mass average molecular weight is 150,000, more preferably 120,000, still more preferably 100,000 or less, most preferably. Is 80000.
Examples of the polymerization method for producing the polymer used as the fluidity improver (B) include known emulsion polymerization methods, suspension polymerization methods, solution polymerization methods, bulk polymerization methods, and the like. The suspension polymerization method and the emulsion polymerization method are preferable because they are easy.

The resin composition forming the light guide plate of the present invention is obtained by kneading the above-described aromatic polycarbonate resin (A) and fluidity improver (B) and optional components blended as necessary.
Examples of optional components include triphenyl phosphite, tris (nonylphenyl) phosphite, distearyl pentaerythritol diphosphite, diphenyl hydrogen phosphite, irganox 1076 [stearyl-β- (3,5-di-tert. -Butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionate], such as 2- (2'-hydroxy-5'-methylphenyl) benzotriazole, 2- (2'-hydroxy-3 ', 5'-di -Tert-amylphenyl) benzotriazole, 2- (2'-hydroxy-4'-octoxyphenyl) benzotriazole, weathering agents such as 2-hydroxy-4-octoxybenzophenone, antistatic agents, mold release agents , Dyes and pigments, etc. It can be added within a range not to impair.
Examples of the kneading method include known methods using a Henschel mixer, a Banbury mixer, a simple screw extruder, a twin screw extruder, a two-roll, a kneader, a Brabender, and the like.
The blending ratio of the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A) and the fluidity improver (B) may be appropriately determined according to the desired physical properties, and is not particularly limited, but the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A) is excellent. When the total of the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A) and the fluidity improver (B) is 100 parts by mass in order to develop the melt fluidity modification effect and the chemical resistance improvement effect without reducing the characteristics. In addition, the flow rate improver (B) is preferably in a proportion of 0.5 to 20 parts by mass with respect to 80 to 99.5 parts by mass of the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A). If the blending ratio of the fluidity improver (B) is less than 0.5 parts by mass, the blending effect may not be sufficiently obtained. On the other hand, if the blending ratio of the fluidity improver (B) exceeds 20 parts by mass, among the excellent characteristics of the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A), the mechanical properties may be impaired. The lower limit of the ratio of the fluidity improver (B) is preferably 0.5 parts by mass, then preferably 1 part by mass, more preferably 2 parts by mass, and even more preferably 3 parts by mass. The upper limit of the ratio is preferably 20 parts by mass, then preferably 15 parts by mass, and more preferably 10 parts by mass.

As is apparent from Table 2, the resin compositions and molded articles obtained in each Example have heat resistance, transparency, impact resistance, peel resistance, and high melt fluidity, and are thus conductive. It had the characteristics necessary for the manufacture of light plates.
On the other hand, the polymer which is the fluidity improver (B) does not contain the (meth) acrylic acid ester monomer (b2) as a structural unit, and the one of Comparative Example 1 has insufficient compatibility, so that the peel resistance In addition, transparency was not obtained as compared with the examples. Moreover, the thing of the comparative example 2 which is not mix | blended the fluidity improver (B) has remarkably low melt fluidity compared with the thing of each Example, and it was suggested that it is not suitable for manufacture of a light-guide plate. Further, in Comparative Example 3 using PMMA instead of the aromatic polycarbonate resin (A), although the melt fluidity is excellent, the heat resistance and the impact resistance are low, and the instrument panel, the tail lamp, the blinker for mounting on the vehicle. This suggests that it is not suitable for the manufacture of light guide plates for back lighting devices such as mobile phones.
According to the present invention, it comprises an aromatic polycarbonate resin composition having high melt flowability while maintaining excellent characteristics such as mechanical properties such as impact resistance, heat resistance, and transparency, and has a wide range of uses.
