担架として用いるにあたっては、留め部材１８を外して蓋（上面部１６及び垂れ部１７）を開け、左右のスライドファスナー２６L，２６Rを開けて平面状に展開する。これにより図２に示す様に、前面部１３〜底面部１１〜後面部１２〜上面部１６〜垂れ部１７が、直線状に長く連なり、また後面部１２から左・右側面部１４，１５が連なった状態となる。そして左右のループ２３L，２３R，２２L，２２R，２１L，２１Rにそれぞれトビ３０を挿通する（図３：展開状態の担架転換型鞄１０にトビ３０を取り付けた様子を表す上面図）。このとき、図に示す様に左右のループがそれぞれ３つに分離し（ループ２３L，２２L，２１L、ループ２２R，２３R，２１R）、且つ各々離れて位置しているから、一続きのループの場合と違って、トビ（長尺棒）３０を挿通し易い。尚図３中、３６はトビ３０の棒部、３４はトビ３０の鎌部、３５は鎌部３４のカバーである。
