Abstract
【解決手段】 金属酸化物粒子にロジウム3が担持されてなる排ガス浄化触媒であって、金属酸化物粒子がセリアを比較的多く含む中心部1とジルコニアを比較的多く含む外皮部2とからなる排ガス浄化触媒及びその製造方法とする。

Description
この本発明の方法では、始めに、それぞれ異なる等電点を有するセリアのコロイド粒子とジルコニアのコロイド粒子とを少なくとも含有するゾルを提供する。
この本発明の方法では、次に、ゾルのpHを、ジルコニアのコロイド粒子の等電点よりもセリアのコロイド粒子の等電点に近づけて、セリアのコロイド粒子を凝集させる。
この本発明の方法では、また次に、ゾルのpHを、セリアのコロイド粒子の等電点よりもジルコニアのコロイド粒子の等電点に近づけて、凝集したセリアのコロイド粒子の周囲に、ジルコニアのコロイド粒子を凝集させる。
このようにして得られる凝集体を乾燥及び焼成することによって、セリアを比較的多く含む中心部とジルコニアを比較的多く含む外皮部とを有し、且つ中心部と外皮部とがそれぞれ複数の一次粒子からなる金属酸化物粒子を得ることができる。
この本発明の方法では、最後に、得られた金属酸化物粒子にロジウムを担持させる。
この実施例では、中心部がセリアを比較的多く含み、且つ外皮部がジルコニアを比較的多く含む金属酸化物粒子(CeO2:ZrO2:Y2O3=45:52:3(モル比))を得て、これにロジウムを担持する。
この実施例では、金属酸化物粒子の成分のモル比をCeO2:ZrO2:Y2O3=48:49:3としたことを除いて、実施例1と同様にして触媒を得た。

表1の組成のリッチガス及びリーンガスを1分毎に切り替えて、1,000℃で5時間にわたって耐久を行った。耐久を行った触媒に対し、表1の組成のリッチガス及びリーンガスを1Hzで切り替えながらこれらのガスを昇温させて、HC(炭化水素)の浄化率が50%になる温度(HC−T50)を調べた。またCO(2%)とO2(1%)とを1分間隔で切り替えて、COを流通させているときのCO2発生量からOSC能(酸素貯蔵能力)(O2mmol/担体−g)を算出した。比表面積(SSA)を、BET一点法を用いて測定した。得られた結果を表2及び図3〜5に示している。

Claims (8)
- 金属酸化物粒子にロジウムが担持されてなる排ガス浄化触媒であって、前記金属酸化物粒子がセリアを比較的多く含む中心部とジルコニアを比較的多く含む外皮部とを有する、排ガス浄化触媒。
- 前記中心部と前記外皮部とがそれぞれ複数の一次粒子からなる、請求項1に記載の排ガス浄化触媒。
- 前記金属酸化物粒子中のセリウムとジルコニウムの全モル数に基づいて、セリウムのモル分率が35mol%〜50mol%である、請求項1又は2に記載の排ガス浄化触媒。
- 前記金属酸化物粒子中の金属の全モル数に基づいて、セリウムとジルコニウムのモル分率が合計で少なくとも85mol%である、請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の排ガス浄化触媒。
- 前記金属酸化物粒子が10μm未満の平均粒子径を有する、請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の排ガス浄化触媒。
- セリアを比較的多く含む前記中心部に、アルカリ土類金属及び希土類からなる群より選択される少なくとも1種の元素が添加されている、請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の排ガス浄化触媒。

- それぞれ異なる等電点を有するセリアのコロイド粒子とジルコニアのコロイド粒子とを少なくとも含有するゾルを提供し、
前記ゾルのpHを、前記ジルコニアのコロイド粒子の等電点よりも前記セリアのコロイド粒子の等電点に近づけて、前記セリアのコロイド粒子を凝集させ、
前記ゾルのpHを、前記セリアのコロイド粒子の等電点よりも前記ジルコニアのコロイド粒子の等電点に近づけて、凝集した前記セリアのコロイド粒子の周囲に、前記ジルコニアのコロイド粒子を凝集させ、
得られた凝集物を乾燥及び焼成して、セリアを比較的多く含む中心部とジルコニアを比較的多く含む外皮部とを有する金属酸化物粒子を得、そして
得られた前記金属酸化物粒子にロジウムを担持させること、
を含む、排ガス浄化触媒の製造方法。
