Abstract
【解決手段】 検知モードにおいて、いずれか一つの自発光素子に対して逆バイアス電圧VM1を印加する。素子に流れる微弱な電流が、トランジスタQ1 ,Q2 によるカレントミラー回路からトランジスタQ3 に供給される。トランジスタQ3 ,Q4 〜Q7 によりカレントミラー回路及び電流増幅手段が構成されている。電流増幅された電流は電流比較型コンパレータ7において基準電流源8からの電流値と比較され、その出力がラッチ回路9によりラッチされ、データレジスタ10に格納される。逆バイアス電圧により所定値以上の微弱な電流が流れた場合、発光不具合に至る可能性が高いものと判定し、データレジスタ10に格納されたデータを利用して、適宜報知手段を駆動させる。

Claims (13)
- 走査線とデータ線の交点位置にダイオード特性を有する自発光素子を含む画素をマトリクス状に多数配列した発光表示パネルと、前記発光表示パネルにおける各自発光素子を選択的に発光駆動させる駆動手段からなる自発光表示ユニットと、
前記自発光表示ユニットにおける不具合を検知するための不具合検知手段と、
を備えた自発光表示モジュールであって、
前記不具合検知手段には、前記自発光素子の非発光状態において、当該素子のカソード側に逆バイアス電圧を印加する逆バイアス電圧印加手段と、
前記自発光素子のカソード側に逆バイアス電圧を印加した状態における前記自発光素子に流れる電流を増幅する電流増幅手段と、
前記電流増幅手段によって増幅された電流値が所定の値以上であるか否かを判定する電流値検出手段と、
が具備され、前記電流値検出手段により前記自発光表示ユニットにおける不具合を検知するように構成されていることを特徴とする自発光表示モジュール。 - 前記電流増幅手段が、制御側電流源トランジスタと被制御側電流源トランジスタとの間で、所定の電流比(1:nただしn≧1)に設定されたカレントミラー回路により構成され、前記自発光素子のカソード側に逆バイアス電圧を印加させた場合に生ずる電流を前記制御側電流源トランジスタに供給すると共に、前記被制御側電流源トランジスタに流れる電流を前記電流値検出手段に供給するように構成したことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の自発光表示モジュール。
- 前記電流増幅手段を構成するカレントミラー回路には、それぞれの制御極端子が共通接続されると共に、トランジスタサイズが異なる複数の被制御側電流源トランジスタが備えられ、前記被制御側電流源トランジスタを選択的に能動動作させることにより、前記電流増幅手段における電流増幅率が選択できるように構成したことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の自発光表示モジュール。
- 前記自発光素子のカソード側に逆バイアス電圧を印加させた場合に生ずる電流を、第2のカレントミラー回路を介して前記カレントミラー回路における制御側電流源トランジスタに供給するように構成したことを特徴とする請求項2または請求項3に記載の自発光表示モジュール。
- 前記電流値検出手段が電流比較型コンパレータにより構成されており、前記電流比較型コンパレータにおける一方の電流入力端子には、前記電流増幅手段による電流が供給され、他方の電流入力端子には、基準電流源からの電流が供給されることを特徴とする請求項1ないし請求項4のいずれか1項に記載の自発光表示モジュール。
- 前記電流比較型コンパレータにおける他方の電流入力端子に供給される基準電流源からの電流値が変更可能に構成されていることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の自発光表示モジュール。
- 前記駆動手段は、発光駆動モードと検知モードとに切り換え可能に構成され、前記検知モードにおいては、前記走査線のいずれか1本に対して逆バイアス電圧を印加すると共に、前記データ線のいずれか1本を基準電位点に接続することで、1つの画素に対応する自発光素子のカソード側に逆バイアス電圧が印加されるように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1ないし請求項6のいずれか1項に記載の自発光表示モジュール。
- 前記不具合検知手段による検知動作は、前記発光表示パネルにおける各画素に対応した各走査線と各データ線との全ての組み合わせにおいてそれぞれ実行され、検知動作に基づく検知結果が記憶手段に格納されるように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1ないし請求項7のいずれか1項に記載の自発光表示モジュール。
- 前記記憶手段に格納された前記不具合検知手段による検知結果に基づいて、報知手段を駆動するように構成したことを特徴とする請求項1ないし請求項8のいずれか1項に記載の自発光表示モジュール。
- 前記発光表示パネルに配列された自発光素子が、有機化合物を発光層に用いた有機EL素子であることを特徴とする請求項1ないし請求項9のいずれか1項に記載の自発光表示モジュール。
- 前記請求項1ないし請求項10のいずれか1項に記載の自発光表示モジュールが搭載された電子機器。
- 走査線とデータ線の交点位置にダイオード特性を有する自発光素子を含む画素をマトリクス状に多数配列した発光表示パネルと、前記発光表示パネルにおける各自発光素子を選択的に発光駆動させる駆動手段からなる自発光表示ユニットと、
前記自発光表示ユニットにおける不具合を検知するための不具合検知手段と、
前記不具合検知手段による検知結果を格納する記憶手段と、
を備えた自発光表示モジュールにおける欠陥状態の検証方法であって、
前記不具合検知手段は、前記発光表示パネルにおけるいずれか1本の走査線に対して逆バイアス電圧を印加する逆バイアス電圧印加ステップと、
前記逆バイアス電圧が印加された状態における前記自発光素子に流れる電流値を電流増幅手段を介して得ることで、当該素子に流れる電流値が所定値以上であるか否かを判定する電流値判定ステップと、
前記電流値判定ステップによって得られた判定結果を、前記記憶手段に格納する判定結果格納ステップと、
を実行することを特徴とする自発光表示モジュールにおける欠陥状態の検証方法。 - 前記逆バイアス電圧印加ステップと、電流値判定ステップと、判定結果格納ステップとが、前記各画素に対応した各走査線と各データ線との全ての組み合わせにおいてそれぞれ実行されることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の自発光表示モジュールにおける欠陥状態の検証方法。
