Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a fuel cell system that generates power by receiving supply of fuel gas and oxidant gas.
As a fuel cell system that can be mounted on a fuel cell vehicle or the like, hydrogen generated as a fuel gas is supplied to the fuel electrode of the fuel cell, and air is supplied as an oxidant gas to the air electrode. Have gained. In such a fuel cell system, it is known that a part of nitrogen contained in the air leaks through the electrolyte membrane to reach the fuel electrode from the air electrode and accumulates in the fuel gas circulation path. Further, impurities in hydrogen gas used as fuel gas may be mixed in the circulation path of fuel gas. When such impurities such as nitrogen are accumulated in the circulation path of the fuel gas, the gas partial pressure of the fuel gas supplied to the fuel electrode is lowered, so that the power generation efficiency is lowered. For this reason, the fuel gas whose impurity concentration in the fuel gas circulation path is increased is discharged out of the circulation path every certain time or after generating a certain amount of power. In this case, since it is not preferable to discharge the exhaust gas containing hydrogen as it is into the atmosphere, the exhaust gas is burned in a combustor equipped with a combustion catalyst and then released into the atmosphere. In this combustor, the exhaust heat generated when the fuel gas is burned is subjected to heat exchange, and may be used for thawing pure water frozen at the time of starting the system.
In the above prior art, the combustion temperature of the combustor is judged to be abnormal from the difference between the theoretical value obtained by calculating the combustion temperature in the combustor based on the amount of exhaust hydrogen and the actual temperature detection value. When the system determines abnormal combustion, the temperature range of normal combustion is exceeded, and even if the combustor is stopped at that time, the temperature of the system may change to a higher temperature. . As described above, it is difficult to detect abnormal combustion in the temperature range during normal combustion in the detection of abnormal combustion according to the conventional technology. Therefore, abnormal combustion is detected within the temperature range during normal combustion, and combustion is performed early. It was required to be able to stop the operation of the vessel.
A fuel cell system according to the present invention includes at least a fuel cell that generates power upon receiving supply of fuel gas and oxidant gas, fuel gas supply means for supplying fuel gas to the fuel cell, and oxidant gas to the fuel cell. An oxidant gas supply means for supplying the fuel, a combustor for burning the secondary fuel gas and the secondary oxidant gas discharged from the fuel cell, and a combustion temperature detection means for detecting the combustion temperature in the combustor. A temperature increase rate calculating means for calculating a temperature increase rate in the combustor based on a combustion temperature detected by the combustion temperature detecting means in an initial stage of combustion start of the combustor. When the temperature increase rate calculated by the temperature increase rate calculating means is less than a predetermined value, it is determined that the inside of the combustor is abnormal combustion, and the supply of the secondary fuel gas to the combustor is stopped. combustion And it is controlled by a controller that includes a stop determination unit.
According to the present invention, the temperature rise rate of the combustor is calculated using the combustion temperature detected at the initial stage of combustion start in which the characteristic of abnormal combustion is noticeable, and if this is less than a predetermined value, it is determined that abnormal combustion has occurred. Therefore, the combustion of the combustor can be stopped by detecting abnormal combustion at an early stage within the temperature range during normal combustion.
Hereinafter, the best mode for carrying out the fuel cell system according to the present invention will be described.

FIG. 1 is a schematic block diagram showing only a part necessary for explaining the basic configuration of the present invention. Other configurations, for example, a cooling water, air, hydrogen, and other gas circulation paths and control systems are shown. The illustration is omitted for.
The fuel cell 1 is configured by sandwiching a battery cell structure in which a fuel electrode 3 and an

Further, the

Next, the determination process for stopping the supply of the anode off gas to the
The
In the present embodiment, the upper limit temperature in the primary stop process is 700 degC, and the predetermined value of the temperature increase rate in the temperature increase rate determination process is 30 degC / sec. In addition, the predetermined time for repeatedly executing the series of processes is set to 1 sec.
In the present embodiment, the processing executed by the
During the period from the start of combustion to 4 seconds, it is determined whether the combustion temperature of the
During the period of 4 to 8 seconds after the start of combustion, the combustion temperature is first determined by the primary stop process. When the combustion temperature is less than 700 degC, the temperature increase rate is calculated based on the detected combustion temperature, It is determined whether the temperature increase rate is 30 deg C / sec or more. When the temperature rising rate is 30 deg C / sec or more, it is determined that the combustion is normal combustion, and when the temperature rising rate is less than 30 deg C / sec, it is determined that the combustion is abnormal and the secondary stop process is performed. A series of processes for stopping the supply of the anode off gas to the
After 9 seconds from the start of combustion, only the combustion temperature is determined by the primary stop process.
That is, during the period from the start of combustion to 3 seconds, the combustion temperature is determined by the primary stop process, and during the period from 4 to 8 seconds after the start of combustion, in addition to the determination of the combustion temperature by the primary stop process, the temperature rise by the secondary stop process is performed. The speed is determined, and after 9 seconds, only the combustion temperature is determined by the primary stop process.
Next, the control procedure of abnormal combustion detection by the
Simultaneously with the combustion start operation of the
When the abnormal combustion detection sequence starts, the
If the combustion temperature is less than 700 degC in step S101, it is determined whether the time is between 0 and 3 seconds after the start of combustion (step S104). Here, if Yes, it returns to before step S101 and it is judged whether the combustion temperature of the
If No in step S104, it is determined whether the time is 4 to 8 seconds after the start of combustion (step S105). If Yes, it is determined whether the combustion temperature of the
If No in step S109, the process returns to before step S105, and it is determined whether the time is 4 to 8 seconds after the start of combustion.
On the other hand, in the routine of steps S105 to S109, when the temperature rising rate does not become 30 deg C / sec or more within 4 to 8 seconds after the start of combustion, it is determined that the combustion is abnormal and the supply of the anode off gas to the
As described above, in this embodiment, the presence / absence of abnormal combustion is determined based on the temperature rise rate during 4 to 8 seconds from the start of combustion. Here, the relationship between the combustion temperature and temperature rise rate of the combustor and the detection time will be described.
FIG. 3 is a characteristic diagram showing the relationship between the combustion time and the combustion temperature in a combustor having a mixer section and a catalyst section as in this embodiment.
As shown in FIG. 3, in normal combustion, the combustion temperature becomes about 500 degC when about 20 seconds have elapsed from the start of combustion, and then stabilizes around 500 degC. On the other hand, in abnormal combustion, when about 20 seconds have elapsed from the start of combustion, the temperature becomes 500 degC or more, and then the temperature further increases. For this reason, conventionally, 700 degC is set as the upper limit temperature (limit temperature) of combustion, and combustion is stopped when the combustion temperature reaches 700 degC as shown by the dotted frame in the figure. Therefore, when the system determines abnormal combustion, the temperature range of normal combustion (up to 500 degC) is exceeded, and even if the operation of the combustor is stopped at that time, the temperature of the system further increases (from 700 degC). There was a possibility of transition.
FIG. 4 is a characteristic diagram showing the relationship between the combustion time in normal combustion and abnormal combustion and the temperature rising rate in the same combustor.
As shown in FIG. 4, in normal combustion, the rate of temperature increase increases with time from the start of combustion, but in abnormal combustion, the rate of temperature increase does not increase even if the same time elapses. As a factor showing such different characteristics, there is a difference in combustion state in the combustor. That is, in the normal combustion, since the combustion field of the mixed gas is mainly the
In this way, the characteristic of abnormal combustion appears prominently at the initial stage of combustion start, so by calculating the rate of temperature rise based on the combustion temperature detected at this stage, the presence or absence of abnormal combustion can be detected in a relatively low temperature range. And can be judged early.
Therefore, as in this embodiment, the combustion temperature is detected 4 to 8 seconds after the start of combustion in which the characteristic of abnormal combustion is noticeable, and if the temperature increase rate calculated based on this is less than 30 deg C / sec, abnormal combustion is detected. By judging that, the operation of the combustor can be stopped within the temperature range (up to 500 degC) during normal combustion and within 8 seconds from the start of combustion.
In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 1, the combustion temperature detection means 13 is provided at the rear stage of the
In this embodiment, since the rate of change in the combustion temperature in the predetermined time range is used as the rate of temperature increase, the rate of temperature increase can be calculated by a simple logic circuit or calculation program. Furthermore, since the detection of the combustion temperature is performed for 4 to 8 seconds after the start of combustion, the time zone of 0 to 3 seconds immediately after the start of combustion with little difference in the temperature rising rate between normal combustion and abnormal combustion can be avoided (see FIG. 4). Therefore, the combustion temperature detected in the time zone in which the difference in the heating rate is large is used for the calculation, so that the abnormal combustion can be determined more accurately.
Further, in this embodiment, the combustion temperature is determined by the primary stop process for 4 seconds from the start of combustion, and the combustion temperature is determined by the primary stop process and increased by the secondary stop process for 4 to 8 seconds after the start of combustion. In addition to the determination of the temperature rate, the combustion temperature is determined by the primary stop process after 9 seconds from the start of combustion, so that not only abnormal combustion is detected at an early stage after the start of combustion, but also combustion is started. In any later time zone, if abnormal combustion occurs, this can be detected and the operation of the
In the present embodiment, the predetermined time range in which the temperature increase rate determination process is performed is 4 to 8 seconds after the start of combustion. Further, the upper limit temperature in the primary stop process is set to 700 degC, and the predetermined value of the temperature increase rate in the temperature increase rate determination process is set to 30 degC / sec. Further, the time interval for executing the abnormal combustion detection routine shown in FIG. 2 is set to 1 sec. However, it is needless to say that these set values are not limited and can be changed as appropriate depending on the specifications of the combustor and the operating conditions.
