（詳細な説明）
本発明の包装された頭皮用化粧組成物は次の必須の限定を指向する：１）揮発性液体キャリア、２）ふけ防止又は他の皮膚活性化剤、３）湿潤物質、及び４）組成物の頭皮への直接的な適用のためのアプリケーター又は包装システム。これらのそれぞれの定義は以下により詳細に記述される。
用語「揮発性」は本明細書で使用するとき、特に明記しない限り、周囲条件下で液体であり、２５℃で測定したとき水の蒸気圧より大きい、好ましくは約２５ｍｍＨｇより大きい蒸気圧、より典型的には約３５ｍｍＨｇより大きい蒸気圧を有する物質のことを言う。逆に、用語「非揮発性」は本明細書で使用するとき、特に明記しない限り、２５℃で測定した蒸気圧が水以下である、すなわち２５℃で２３．７ｍｍＨｇ以下である固体又は液体物質を言う。

本発明の包装された頭皮用化粧組成物は、クレンジング界面活性剤を実質的に含まない。本明細書において、用語「実質的に含まない」は包装された頭皮用化粧組成物が５重量％未満、好ましくは２重量％未満の清浄界面活性剤を含有することを意味する。しかしながら、当該組成物は処方を安定化するため、又はそうでなければ当該組成物の非クレンジング能を改善するためにかかる界面活性剤を使用するのであれば、５重量％未満のかかる界面活性剤を含有してもよいことが理解されている。
本発明の包装された頭皮用化粧組成物は、頭皮に直接適用される。本明細書では、「直接適用する」は当該組成物が主に毛髪よりむしろ頭皮に適用され、好ましくは組成物がそれによって毛髪よりむしろ、頭皮に直接適用される複数の開口部を有するアプリケーター又は他の包装システムによって適用されることを意味する。直接適用することは典型的には、頭皮及び毛髪の一部分若しくは頭皮に最も近い又は隣接する毛幹の両方への適用を伴うが、手又は他の柔らかい基質を使用した毛髪及び頭皮への製品の適用、そしてその後の頭皮の所望範囲への毛髪を通した組成物のマッサージによる毛髪及び頭皮への組成物の従来のトニック又はシャンプーのような適用を好ましくは除外する。

本発明の包装された頭皮用化粧組成物は、本明細書に記載した本発明の必須要素及び制限、並びにいずれかの追加的な若しくは任意成分、構成成分、若しくは本明細書に記載の、又はそうでなければ、かかる使用に効果的な制限を含むことができ、それからなることができ、又は本質的にそれからなることができる。
本明細書で使用される全ての百分率、割合及び比率は、特に明記しない限り、包装された組成物中の頭皮化粧処方の重量に基づく。特に明記しない限り、列挙した成分に関係する重量は全て特定の成分の値に基づくものであり、したがって、市販材料に包含され得る溶媒、キャリア、副産物、充填剤、又はその他の微量成分を包含しない。

皮膚活性化剤
本発明の包装された頭皮用化粧組成物は所望の皮膚活性効果を提供するのに十分な量で、ふけ防止剤又は他の皮膚活性化剤を含む。既知である又はそうでなければ、ふけ防止又は他の皮膚活性効果を提供する上で有効ないずれのふけ防止剤又は他の皮膚活性剤も、本発明の組成物における使用に好適である。当該組成物中の皮膚活性化剤若しくは薬剤は、可溶化された若しくは分散された液体の形態、又は可溶化された若しくは分散された固体の形態であってよい。

本発明の包装された頭皮用化粧組成物の皮膚活性化剤は、多様な濃度で組成物と共に処方されるが、一般的には頭皮用化粧組成物の約０．００５重量％〜約２０重量％、より典型的には約０．０１重量％〜約１０重量％、さらにより典型的には約０．０５重量％〜約７重量％を占める。濃度は選択される特定の皮膚活性化剤のために確立された、安全な及び効果的な濃度、要求される皮膚活性化利益の程度及び型、などの要因に依存して変化する。当該組成物の使用に好適な皮膚活性化剤の非限定的な例としては、ふけ防止活性物質、ステロイド抗炎症剤（例えば、ヒドロコルチゾン）、非ステロイド抗炎症剤、抗刺激活性物質、殺シラミ剤又は殺虫剤（例えば、ノミ、ダニ、シラミ又は他の虫用）、野菜ベースフィトステロール類及びそれらの誘導体（例えばベーターシトステロール、カンペステロール、スチグマステロール）、冷却若しくは他の皮膚感覚剤、ふけ防止活性物質以外の抗菌剤、麻酔剤、抗ヒスタミン類、収斂剤、酵素、ビタミン類、毛髪成長活性物質、日焼け止め剤、並びに他の同様の既知の又はそうでなければ効果的な局所薬剤、若しくは非薬剤活性物質が挙げられる。

皮膚活性化剤として使用する殺シラミ剤の非限定的な例としては、ペペロニルブトキシド、ピレトラム抽出物、イミダクロプリッド局所溶液、リンダン（ガンマベンゼンヘキサクロリド）、有機リン酸エステル類（マラチオン）、天然ピレトリン類、合成ピレトロイド類（例えば、ペルメトリン）及び他のいずれの既知の、又はそうでなければダニ、ノミ及び他の虫などの虫に対して皮膚、毛髪若しくは柔毛を制御又は処置するのに効果的な薬剤が挙げられる。
本明細書で使用する皮膚活性化酵素の非限定的な例としては、酸化還元酵素、転移酵素、脱離酵素、加水分解酵素、異性化酵素、合成酵素、及び他の同様の酵素が挙げられる。

当該皮膚活性化剤としては、頭皮用化粧組成物の約０．０１重量％〜約５．０重量％、より好ましくは約０．０５重量％〜約３．０重量％の範囲の濃度において選択された鎮静抗炎症活性物質が挙げられる。本明細書では、鎮静抗炎症活性物質とは皮膚刺激を鎮静化し、低減するのを助けるステロイド抗炎症剤以外のいずれの物質をも言う。かかる活性物質の非限定的な例としては、パントテン酸誘導体、パントテン酸エーテル、アラントイン、又はこれらの組合せ、好ましくはパンテノールのようなパントテン酸のアルコール誘導体（ｄ−パンテノール及びｌ−パンテノールを包含）が挙げられ、そのいくつかの例は、ＣＴＦＡ化粧品構成成分事典、化粧品、洗浄用品及び芳香剤協会、２７２〜２７３ページ、１９９２年に記載されており、それらの記載は本明細書に参考として組み入れる。パンテノールは保湿剤としても使用することができ、かかる組成物が他の保湿剤を含まないとき、本発明の組成物を定義する目的のために保湿剤としてみなされるべきである。とりわけ好ましいのはアラントイン、ビタミンＥ油、及びこれらの組合せである。

皮膚活性化剤は好ましくは、ふけ防止活性物質、最も典型的には抗細菌ふけ防止活性物質であり、組成物内でのその濃度は当該組成物の約０．００１重量％〜約５重量％、より好ましくは約０．０１重量％〜約３重量％、さらにより好ましくは約０．０５重量％〜約１重量％の範囲である。好ましい抗細菌ふけ防止活性物質としてはピリチオン塩類、オクトピロックス、ケトコナゾール、クリムバゾール、シクロピロックス、テルビナフィン、イトラコナゾール及び硫黄又は硫化セレンのような硫黄含有活性物質などの抗かび活性物質が挙げられる。最も好ましいのは組成物の０．００５重量％〜２重量％、より好ましくは約０．００５重量％〜約０．５重量％での範囲の濃度のジンクピリチオン（ＺＰＴ）である。

硫化セレンは当該組成物に用いるのに好ましい抗細菌ふけ防止剤であり、有効な濃度は頭皮用化粧組成物の約０．００１重量％〜約５．０重量％、好ましくは約０．０１重量％〜約２．５重量％、より好ましくは約０．０５重量％〜約１．０重量％である。硫化セレンは通常セレン１モル及びイオウ２モルを有する化合物とみなされるが、環式構造、Ｓｅ_ｘＳ_ｙ、式中ｘ＋ｙ＝８であってもよい。硫化セレンはパーソナルケア分野において周知であり、例えば、米国特許第２，６９４，６６８号、米国特許第３，１５２，０４６号、米国特許第４，０８９，９４５号及び米国特許第４，８８５，１０７号に記載されており、これらの記載を参考として本明細書に組み入れる。
他の硫黄又は硫黄含有物質を当該頭皮用化粧組成物中に抗細菌活性物質として使用してもよく、その濃度は一般的に頭皮用化粧組成物の約０．００１重量％〜約５．０重量％、好ましくは約０．１重量％〜約５．０重量％、より好ましくは約１．０重量％〜約５．０重量％の範囲である。

ピリチオン抗細菌活性物質、とりわけ１−ヒドロキシー２−ピリジンチオン塩類は頭皮用化粧組成物の使用に極めて好ましいふけ防止活性物質である。好ましいピリチオン塩類は亜鉛、スズ、カドミウム、マグネシウム、アルミニウム及びジルコニウムなどの重金属から形成されるものである。亜鉛塩類、とりわけ１−ヒドロキシ−２−ピリチオンの亜鉛塩（ジンクピリチオン、ＺＰＴ）が最も好ましい。ナトリウムのような他の陽イオンも好適であり得る。特に好ましいのは小板粒子状の形態の１−ヒドロキシ−２−ピリチオン塩類であり、その際粒子は約２０ミクロンまで、好ましくは約８ミクロンまで、最も好ましくは約５ミクロンまでの平均粒度を有する。ピリチオン抗菌性活性物質は毛髪ケア分野で周知であり、例えば、米国特許第２，８０９，９７１号、米国特許第３，２３６，７３３号、米国特許第３，７５３，１９６号、米国特許第３，７６１，４１８号、米国特許第４，３４５，０８０号、米国特許第４，３２３，６８３号、米国特許第４，３７９，７５３号及び米国特許第４，４７０，９８２号に記載されてあり、その記載を参考として本明細書に組み入れる。

本発明の組成物及び方法に使用する亜鉛含有皮膚活性化剤の他の具体例としては、ジンクピリチオン、酢酸亜鉛、アセチルメチオン酸亜鉛、アスパラギン酸亜鉛、ホウ酸亜鉛、炭酸亜鉛、塩化亜鉛、クエン酸亜鉛、ＤＮＡ亜鉛、スルホキシル酸亜鉛ホルムアルデヒド、グルコン酸亜鉛、グルタミン酸亜鉛、加水分解コラーゲン亜鉛、乳酸亜鉛、ラウリン酸亜鉛、ミリスチン酸亜鉛、ネオデカン酸亜鉛、パルミチン酸亜鉛、ＰＣＡ亜鉛、ペンタデセントリカルボン酸亜鉛、リシノール酸亜鉛、リシノール酸亜鉛、ロジン酸亜鉛、ステアリン酸亜鉛、硫酸亜鉛、ウンデシレン酸亜鉛、酸化亜鉛、ラクトビオン酸亜鉛、及びこれらの組合せが挙げられる。

本発明の包装された組成物に使用する皮膚活性化剤としては、組成物に加えられたとき、育毛の規制を提供するいずれかの物質を挙げることができる（本明細書において「育毛活性物質」と呼ぶ）。本明細書では、用語「育毛調整」は育毛の刺激、毛髪の厚化の刺激、脱毛の予防、低減、抑止及び／又は遅延、毛髪が薄くなることの予防、低減、抑止及び／又は遅延、育毛の速度の増加、より多くの毛髪ストランド形成の誘発、毛髪ストランドの直径の増加、毛髪ストランドの伸長、軟毛小包から末端小包への毛包の変化、軟毛小包の形成の誘発、休止期相から成長期相への小包の転換（それによって休止期相小包に比較した成長期相の全小包比が増加する）、成長期の初期段階から成長期の後期段階への小包の促進、成長期相から退行期相への転化の低減、脱毛症の処置、及びこれらのいずれの組合せが挙げられる。
好ましい育毛活性物質としては、本明細書に記載したようなものの亜鉛含有塩類、とりわけジンクラクトビオネートが挙げられる。本発明の組成物及び方法の使用に好適な他の育毛活性物質としては、米国特許第６，１２４，３６２号（ブラッドリー（Ｂｒａｄｂｕｒｙ）ら）に記載されているものが挙げられ、その記載は本明細書に参考として組み入れる。

揮発性液体
本発明の包装された頭皮用化粧組成物はヒトの皮膚への局所適用に好適な揮発性液体キャリアを含む。これらの液体キャリアとしては周囲条件下で揮発性であるいずれの液体、又は周囲条件下で揮発性である組合せの液体キャリアのいずれの組合せ、及びそうでなければ頭皮又は皮膚の他の範囲の局所適用に好適なものが挙げられる。
本発明の包装された頭皮組成物の揮発性液体キャリア又はキャリアの組合せは頭皮用化粧組成物の約４０重量％〜約９９重量％、好ましくは約５０重量％〜約８０重量％、より好ましくは約５５重量％〜約８０重量％、及びさらにより好ましくは約６０重量％〜約７５重量％を占める。

湿潤物質
本発明の包装された頭皮用化粧組成物は改善された湿潤性及び／又は薄片低減利益を持つ組成物を提供するために１つ以上の湿潤物質を含む。湿潤物質はいずれの既知の物質、又はそうでなければ皮膚に湿潤性をもたらすのに効果的な物質であることができ、好ましくは本明細書に記載したような頭皮湿潤値又は即時性薄片低減値を提供するそれらの物質に限定される。
本発明の包装された頭皮用化粧組成物に使用する湿潤物質は好ましくは液体保湿剤である。好適な保湿剤としては既知であるか、又はそうでなければリーブオン組成物から皮膚に湿潤性を提供するのに効果的であるいずれの液体吸湿性の物質も挙げられる。かかる物質の濃度は選択した処方及び処方内の特定の保湿剤などの要因に依存して変化するが、かかる濃度は最も典型的には頭皮用化粧組成物の約０．１重量％〜約２０重量％、より典型的には約０．５重量％〜約１５重量％、最も好ましくは約１．０重量％〜約１０重量％の範囲である。
