Abstract
Description
【0001】

先ず、ステップS301においてPROM64(図2)から補正値A(製造誤差によって生じる搬送誤差を補正する為の補正値)を取得し、ステップS302において印刷データから補正値B(紙種毎に異なる搬送誤差を補正する為の補正値)を取得し、ステップS303において印刷データから補正値C(印刷解像度毎に異なる搬送誤差を補正する為の補正値)を取得する。
【0052】
補正値A=(α(n1)+α(n2))/2

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention provides a recording apparatus comprising: a recording head that performs recording on a recording material; and a transport roller that is rotated and driven to transport the recording material to the recording head. The present invention relates to a recording material conveyance amount control device that controls the conveyance amount of the recording material by controlling the conveyance amount. The present invention also relates to a recording apparatus provided with the recording material transport amount control device.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Some recording apparatuses typified by a facsimile, a printer, and the like include a transport roller that transports a print sheet upstream of a recording unit that prints (records) on a print sheet. The transport roller is driven to rotate by a drive motor, and the amount of rotation of the drive motor is controlled so that the printing paper is fed to the recording unit by a desired transport amount (paper feed amount). In such a recording apparatus, an encoder is attached to a rotation shaft of a transport roller, and an output signal from the encoder is transmitted to a control unit, thereby controlling a rotation amount of the transport roller. Some are also configured.
[0003]
By the way, if a slip or the like occurs between the transport roller and the print paper due to a factor such as a transport load applied to the print paper, the print paper is transported by an intended transport amount even if the transport roller is rotated by a predetermined amount. However, this may cause a problem such as a decrease in print quality. In particular, ink jet printers that realize photographic image quality, in which image quality has remarkably improved in recent years, require a paper feed accuracy of the order of several μm. If this is not satisfied, streaks appear in printed photos, and therefore the paper feed accuracy is reduced. Will appear remarkably in the print result.
[0004]
Therefore, as a conventional technique for solving such a problem, there is a raster type recording apparatus described in

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
By the way, there is a recording device capable of performing so-called four-sided borderless printing that performs printing on a printing paper without blank spaces. In such a recording device, a transporting device in which the rear end of the printing paper is provided on the upstream side of the recording head is provided. When the print paper is released from the rollers, the print paper is conveyed by a paper discharge roller provided downstream of the recording head.
[0007]
Here, the configuration of the transport roller and the discharge roller is generally different, so that a transport error when the print roller is transported by the transport roller and a transport error when the print paper is transported by the discharge roller. Will be different. However, in the above-described raster recording apparatus according to the related art, the above problem is not considered at all, and therefore, in a configuration in which a plurality of roller pairs and a combination of roller pairs for conveying print paper are changed. However, it is not possible to appropriately correct the transport amount of the printing paper.
[0008]
Accordingly, the present invention has been made in view of such a situation, and a problem thereof is that, in a recording apparatus having a plurality of roller pairs, even if the combination of the roller pairs for conveying the printing paper changes, the printing paper can be appropriately replaced. To transport.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-described problems, a first aspect of the present invention provides a recording head that performs recording on a recording material, and a plurality of recording heads provided on a conveyance path of the recording material, for nipping and rotating the recording material. And a roller pair that conveys the recording material by controlling the amount of rotation of the roller pair, thereby controlling the conveyance amount of the recording material. A plurality of conveyance amount correction information different depending on a combination of the pair of rollers for applying a conveyance force to the recording material is provided in the data storage unit, and a change in a combination of the pair of rollers for applying the conveyance force to the recording material is changed. The correction value to be added to the transport amount of the recording material is changed in response to the above.
[0010]
According to the first aspect, the correction value to be added to the transport amount of the recording material is changed in accordance with a change in the combination of the pair of rollers that applies the transport force to the recording material. Therefore, even if the combination of the roller pair that applies the conveying force to the recording material changes, by adopting a correction value suitable for the combination of the roller pair after the change, the recording material can be appropriately adjusted. The transport amount can be corrected, so that a decrease in recording quality can be reliably prevented.
[0011]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the first aspect, a plurality of the roller pairs are provided on an upstream side of the recording head, and a transport roller that transports the recording material to the recording head; A discharge roller that is provided downstream of the recording head and that conveys the recording material after the rear end of the recording material separates from the conveyance roller; and a plurality of the conveyance amount correction information, And a discharge roller conveyance amount correction information when the recording material is conveyed by the conveyance roller and a discharge roller conveyance amount correction information when the recording material is conveyed by the discharge roller. It is characterized by having.
[0012]
According to the second aspect, the plurality of roller pairs include a transport roller and a discharge roller provided downstream of the transport roller, and transport the recording material by the transport roller. Since the correction value to be added to the transport amount of the recording material is changed when the recording material is transported by the discharge roller, particularly after the trailing end of the recording material is disengaged from the transport roller, Even during four-sided borderless printing in which the paper is conveyed by the paper discharge rollers, it is possible to appropriately correct the conveyance amount of the recording material and reliably prevent a decrease in recording quality.
[0013]
According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the second aspect, the transport roller includes a high-friction layer integrally attached to a surface of a high-rigidity roller base, and the high-friction layer includes abrasion-resistant particles. And a deposition drive for uniformly dispersing the wear-resistant particles and firmly holding the high-rigidity roller in a state where a part of the high-rigidity roller at the tip end in the radial direction is exposed on the surface. A roller, a surface driven by the recording material, which is formed of a low friction member, and a conveyance driven roller that is pressed against the conveyance driving roller and is driven to rotate. A paper discharge drive roller formed of a rubber roller provided on a shaft extending in the width direction so as to be localized in the width direction; and a toothed roller that makes point contact with a recording surface of the recording material. Discharge driven driven to rotate in contact with drive roller And over La, it is constituted by the obtained from the sheet discharge roller conveyance amount correction information, the correction value to be added to the conveying amount of the recording material characterized in that it is a zero.
[0014]
When the transport roller is composed of a transport drive roller and a transport driven roller, and the transport drive roller is formed by integrally applying a high friction layer to the surface of a highly rigid roller base, a paper discharge drive roller composed of a rubber roller The recording material is more likely to slip than the paper discharge roller having the above. On the other hand, the recording material hardly slips at the paper discharge roller, so that a desired conveyance amount is easily obtained. Therefore, in the third aspect, the correction value when the recording material is conveyed by the paper discharge roller is set to zero, so that the recording material conveyance amount is appropriately corrected in the recording apparatus having the above-described configuration. can do.
[0015]
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, there is provided a recording head for performing recording on a recording material, and a plurality of recording heads provided on a conveyance path of the recording material, for conveying the recording material by nipping and rotating the recording material. And a pair of rollers that performs the recording material conveyance amount control device according to any one of the first to third aspects.
According to the fourth aspect, a recording apparatus that performs recording on a recording material includes the recording material transport amount control device according to any one of the first to third aspects described above. In the recording apparatus, it is possible to obtain the same operation and effect as any one of the first to third aspects described above.

Next, the correction value C is for correcting a transport error that differs for each printing resolution. The transport error here is a transport error mainly caused by slipping of the sheet P on the
[0049]
In the present embodiment, such a transport error is obtained in advance for each print resolution, a correction value C is further obtained from the obtained transport error, and the host value is determined as a unique value for each print resolution in the same manner as the correction value B. It is registered in a printer driver that operates on the computer 200 (see FIG. 2). The correction value C may be stored in the PROM 64 (FIG. 2) in the same manner as the correction value A, and the correction value C suitable for the paper type may be selected from the print resolution specified by the received print data. .
[0050]
Then, at the time of actual printing, a correction value C suitable for the printing resolution selected by the user is selected, transmitted to the
[0051]
FIG. 8 is a flowchart showing a flow (concept) of actually obtaining the correction value γ of the carry amount (per inch). First, in step S301, a correction value A (a correction value for correcting a transport error caused by a manufacturing error) is acquired from the PROM 64 (FIG. 2), and in step S302, a correction value B (a transport error different for each paper type) is obtained from the print data. In step S303, a correction value C (a correction value for correcting a different transport error for each printing resolution) is obtained from the print data.
[0052]
Next, in step S304, it is determined whether or not the trailing edge of the sheet P has passed the
[0053]
On the other hand, when the rear end of the sheet P has passed the transport roller 18 (Yes in step S305), the correction value γ is set to 0 (step S306).
This is for the following reasons. That is, in the four-sided borderless printing described with reference to FIGS. 3 to 6, the sheet P is conveyed by the conveying force received from the conveying

On the other hand, when the rear end of the sheet P comes off the conveying

[0057]
In this embodiment, there are only two pairs of rollers for applying the conveying force to the sheet P, that is, the conveying
[0058]
More specifically, for example, a correction value “correction value D” that is set for each combination of a pair of rollers that imparts the transport amount to the paper P is added to the correction value type shown in FIG. 7, and step S305 in FIG. By adding the correction value D, it is possible to obtain an appropriate correction value γ according to the combination of the roller pair that gives the transport amount to the sheet P.
[0059]
Next, a method of obtaining the correction value A will be described in detail with reference to FIGS. Here, FIG. 9 is a flowchart showing a flow for obtaining a correction value A of a predetermined carry amount (1 inch in this embodiment), and FIG. 10 shows a test pattern for obtaining the correction value A.
[0060]
The
[0061]
More specifically, referring to FIG. 9, first, the number of executions of the block pattern print mode is set to 1 (step S401), and then the first block pattern (in the present embodiment, the
[0062]
In the test pattern printed by such a test pattern printing means, as shown in FIG. 10 as an example, white streaks occur when n = 1, 2, and black streaks occur when n = 3, 4, 5. I have. Therefore, in the example of FIG. 10, n = 2 and 3 are input as the numbers n1 and n2 of the boundary where the white stripe changes to the black stripe (steps S408 and 409). Assuming that the correction value αn for the pattern number n1 (correction value αn in step S403) is α (n1), and similarly the correction value αn for the pattern number n2 is α (n2), the correction value A becomes
Correction value A = (α (n1) + α (n2)) / 2
Asking.
[0063]
In this manner, the average value is obtained using the two correction values αn at the boundary where white stripes and black stripes occur, and this average value is used as the correction value A. Thus, it is possible to obtain a more accurate correction value A.
Note that the above-described method of obtaining the correction value A is an example, and various other methods, such as obtaining the correction value A by actually measuring the transport amount from the printing result, can be used.
[0064]
Subsequently, a method of obtaining the correction value B will be described in detail with reference to FIGS. Here, FIG. 11 is a flowchart showing a flow (concept) of obtaining a correction value B of a fixed transport amount (1 inch in this embodiment), and FIG. 3) shows a test pattern to be performed. FIGS. 13 and 14 show examples of correction values for each paper type and paper size.
[0065]
The
[0066]
Next, the intervals (total 16) of each line are actually measured (steps S507 to S509), all the obtained intervals are totaled, and a value obtained by subtracting this from 1 (inch) is set as a correction value B (step S507). S510). That is, since the transport operation of 1/16 inch is repeated 16 times, if the transport operation of 1/16 inch is correctly performed, the sum of the intervals of each line should be 1 inch. However, since a transport error actually occurs, the difference between the total value of the intervals between the lines and 1 inch as the target value is obtained as the correction value B. By repeating the same procedure individually for each paper type and paper size to be used in the
Note that the above-described method of obtaining the correction value B is an example, and it goes without saying that various other methods can be used.
[0067]
FIG. 13 shows an example of a correction value C obtained by the above-described method and set individually for each paper type. In FIGS. 13 and 14, the “paper type” is classified according to the material of the paper, and the “paper size” is separately classified according to the paper size. It does not matter.
[0068]
13, the correction value B is set for each paper type in units of 1/5760 (inch), which is the minimum resolution of the rotary encoder 74 (see FIG. 2). In FIG. 13, as examples, three types of PM mat paper, PM photo paper, and glossy paper (all of which are product names) manufactured by Seiko Epson Corporation are listed. All of the paper sizes shown in FIG. 13 are A4 size, and it can be seen from the table that even if the paper size is the same, unique values are different for each paper type (material). This is because, as described above, the coefficient of friction with the
[0069]
On the other hand, FIG. 14 compares the correction values B when the paper size is different for the same paper type (material). As shown in FIG. 14, it can be seen that the correction values B take different unique values depending on the paper size even for the same paper type (material). This is because if the paper size is different, the force required to transport the paper P, that is, the transport load, will be different.
[0070]
Subsequently, a method of obtaining the correction value C will be described in detail with reference to FIGS. Here, FIG. 15 is a graph showing the relationship between the printing resolution and the transport error per inch, and FIG. 16 shows an example of the correction value C for each printing resolution.
As shown in FIG. 15, when the relationship between the printing resolution and the transport error per inch is examined in the
[0071]
As shown in FIG. 16, in the
[0072]
Note that the above-described method of obtaining the correction value C, that is, changing the printing resolution by several types, measuring the transport error per inch at each printing resolution, obtaining an approximate expression (an approximate curve or an approximate straight line) from the measurement result, The method of obtaining a value that cancels the transport error obtained from the approximate expression as the correction value C is an example, and it goes without saying that various other methods can be used.
[0073]
In addition, in the present embodiment, the transport error per inch is measured for each print resolution. However, attention is paid only to the single transport amount, and the single transport amount is changed by several types to change the transport error per inch for each transport amount. , The correction value C may be obtained for each transport amount. Alternatively, the correction value C may be obtained for each transport speed by focusing only on the transport speed and changing several transport speeds at one time and measuring the transport error per inch at each transport speed.
[0074]
In this case, in general, the larger the one carry amount, the larger the carry error when the one carry operation is repeated many times (the carry error is larger than the target). , The correction value C is desirably set to the minus side (conveyed to be smaller than the target carry amount). In general, as the transport speed is slower, the transport error is on the plus side (the transport is more than the target), so the slower the transport speed, the more the correction value C is on the minus side (the transport is less than the target transport amount). It is desirable to set to.
