Abstract
Description
【0001】
最近、薄型、軽量の表示装置として、PDP(プラズマ・ディスプレイ・パネル)が注目されている。
この現象を、図2(a)、図3(a)、図4(a)及び図5(a)を用いて説明する。
【0007】
ΔR2m=Krm×{min(R2,G2)−min(R1,G1)} ・・・(1)
ΔR2p=Krp×{min(B1,R1)−min(B2,R2)} ・・・(2)
ΔB2m=Kbm×{min(B2,G2)−min(B3,G3)} ・・・(4)
ΔB2p=Kbp×{min(R3,B3)−min(R2,B2)} ・・・(5)
ΔG2m1=Kgm1×{min(G2,B2)−min(G1,B1)} ・・・(7)
ΔG2m2=Kgm2×{min(G2,R2)−min(G3,R3)} ・・・(8)
【0021】
min(A,B)=A(A≦B)、B(A>B)、添え字mはマイナス(減算)、pはプラス(加算)を意味する。
(1)式において、min(R2,G2)−min(R1,G1)=R2−0=R2
∴ΔR2m=Krm×R2
(2)式において、min(B1,R1)−min(B2,R2)=0−0=0
∴ΔR2p=0

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a digital video signal processing technology, and relates to a contour color correction circuit for preventing a color shift of a contour portion which occurs when an image having a sharp contour such as a personal computer image is displayed on a display having a large pixel such as a PDP. It is about.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Recently, PDPs (Plasma Display Panels) have attracted attention as thin and lightweight display devices. The driving method of this PDP is completely different from the conventional CRT driving method, and is a direct driving method using a digitized video input signal. Therefore, the luminance gradation emitted from the panel surface is determined by the number of bits of the signal to be handled. PDPs are classified into two types, AC type and DC type, which have different basic characteristics. Here, the structure of an AC type PDP will be described with reference to the drawings as an example.
[0003]
In FIG. 6, a pair of an X sustain electrode 12 and a
[0004]
In such a configuration, one frame includes, for example, eight subfields having relative luminance ratios of 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, and 128. The gradation is displayed. Each subfield is composed of an address period for writing data for one refreshed screen and a sustain period for determining the luminance level of the subfield. In the address period, the wall charge is initially applied to each pixel at the same time for the entire screen. Is formed, and then a sustain pulse is applied to the entire screen to perform display.
[0005]
Here, FIG. 7 schematically shows an arrangement of each pixel in the configuration of the PDP described with reference to FIG. As shown in FIG. 7, each pixel forms one pixel in the order of R, G, B (or B, G, R) from the left by three vertically long cells. The color of one pixel is represented by a combination of the luminance levels when the three cells R, G, and B are turned on.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the above-described PDP, one pixel is composed of three cells. However, as the screen size increases, the size of the cells forming each pixel naturally increases, and the relative distance between the cells also increases. If the size of one pixel increases and the density of each cell exceeds the resolution of a human, the spatial position of each of the R, G, and B cells when displaying an image with clear contours such as a personal computer image , A color shift occurs in the outline portion. This phenomenon will be described with reference to FIGS. 2 (a), 3 (a), 4 (a) and 5 (a).

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in view of the above-described problems, and even in a case where an image having a clear outline such as a personal computer image is displayed on a display having a large size of one pixel such as a PDP, the outline portion is displayed. An object of the present invention is to provide a contour color correction circuit that does not cause color shift.
[0011]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention compares the signal levels of R, G, and B of a pixel of interest and a pixel adjacent to the pixel of interest in a video signal input from a video signal input terminal to determine the occurrence of color shift and the magnitude of color shift. A color misregistration detecting unit for detecting, a correction amount computing unit for computing a compensation amount for canceling the magnitude of the color misregistration based on the magnitude of the color misregistration detected by the color misregistration detecting unit, and a compensation amount computing unit And an adder for adding and subtracting the correction amount obtained in (1) to and from the video signal for correction.
[0012]
With such a configuration, even on a display such as a PDP having a large size of one pixel, even when an image having a sharp outline such as a personal computer image is displayed, a color shift occurs at the outline. Nothing.
[0013]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
An embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
The present invention relates to a display in which the size of one pixel is large enough to be perceived by human resolution, and in which a color is generated in a contour portion of an image to be displayed, particularly in a contour portion when a clear contour image such as a personal computer image is displayed. The present invention is directed to an apparatus and a method for correcting a displacement.
[0014]
As typical examples of color misregistration correction according to the present invention, examples in which the correction amounts shown in FIGS. 2B, 4B, and 5B are deleted, and those shown in FIG. An example of adding a correction amount will be described.
(1) Example of Deleting Correction Amount In FIG. 2B, R1, G1, and B1 represent three cells of a pixel (R, G,
In FIG. 2B in which the signal levels of R1, G1, and B1 in the pixel (R, G, and B) 1 are all 0, straight lines r and g that extend diagonally to the left from the tips of the signals of R2 and G2 are respectively This diagram schematically shows how R2 and G2 appear to be spread according to human visual characteristics. When the signal level of R2 is below the visual characteristic line g of G2, the colors are mixed and the color shift is not so noticeable. However, when the signal level of R2 is above the line g, particularly the line r Since the hem portion is seen as a single color of red, the red portion is conspicuously seen at the outline portion. In the R2 signal, a dotted line portion above the straight line g causes a color shift. In the present invention, this is detected as a color shift generation amount ΔR2m (m means minus), and FIG. As shown by the solid line in (b), by correcting the R2 signal so that the R2 signal is inside the straight line g, the color shift in the outline portion is suppressed. Correction at pixels (R, G, B) (n-2), pixels (R, G, B) (n-1), and pixels (R, G, B) n at the rear end of FIG. Also performs the same processing.

[0018]
Therefore, as shown in FIG. 3B, instead of reducing the R2 signal, a correction for adding the B1 signal portion is performed. This correction is newly added so that B1 of the previous pixel has a correction amount ΔB1p (p means plus) so as to reach or approach the visual characteristic line r of R2. is there. Correction of pixels (R, G, B) (n-2), pixels (R, G, B) (n-1), and pixels (R, G, B) n at the rear end of FIG. Also performs the same processing.
By performing such correction, the problem that the outline moves to the right is solved, and the color shift is also corrected. There is a case where a correction to be added is performed as shown in FIG. 3B, and a case where a correction to partially delete is performed as shown in FIGS. 2B, 4B and 5B. The determination is made by an arithmetic expression described later.
[0019]
Next, a description will be given based on a specific circuit. FIG. 1 is a block diagram of an outline color correction device according to the present invention. In FIG. 1, a video input signal input from a video
[0020]
The center pixel (R, G,
The corrected signals of R, G, and B are obtained by the following equations.
ΔR2m = Krm × {min (R2, G2) −min (R1, G1)} (1)
ΔR2p = Krp × {min (B1, R1) −min (B2, R2)} (2)
ΔB2m = Kbm × {min (B2, G2) −min (B3, G3)} (4)
ΔB2p = Kbp × {min (R3, B3) −min (R2, B2)} (5)
ΔG2m1 = Kgm1 × {min (G2, B2) −min (G1, B1)} (7)
ΔG2m2 = Kgm2 × {min (G2, R2) −min (G3, R3)} (8)
[0021]
In the above equation,
min (A, B) = A (A ≦ B), B (A> B), the subscript m means minus (subtraction), and p means plus (addition).
Krm, Krp, Kbm, Kbp, Kgm1, and Kgm2 in the above equation are correction coefficients for adjusting the correction amount, and are stored in the ROM of the correction
[0022]
Using the above equations, the case of FIG. 2 and the case of FIG. 3 will be specifically described.
In the case of FIG. 2, in equation (1), min (R2, G2) -min (R1, G1) = R2-0 = R2
∴ΔR2m = Krm × R2
In the equation (2), min (B1, R1) -min (B2, R2) = 0-0 = 0
∴ΔR2p = 0
In the equation (3), R2 ′ = R2−Krm × R2 (= ΔR2m), and the correction is performed as shown in FIG.
In Equation (4), the inside of {} is 0, the inside of {} in Equation (5) is 0, B2 ′ = B2 = 0, no correction is performed, and the inside of {} in Equation (7) is 0. , (8) is 0, G2 '= G2, and no correction is performed.
[0023]
In the case of FIG. 3, {} in equation (1) is 0, and {} in equation (2) is −R2, ΔR2p <0, and is not used in the calculation. Therefore, R2 ′ = R2-0 = R2 Become. The inside of {} in equation (4) is 0, the inside of {} in equation (5) is 0, and B2 ′ = B2 in equation (6). In equation (7), {} is 0, in equation (8), {} is 0, and in equation (9), G2 ′ = G2 = 0. Therefore, (R, G,
However, the correction of (R, G,
[0024]
The correction location and the correction amount are determined by using the above formula. However, when the signal level frequently changes for each pixel such as a character or a dither pattern, the correction is performed using the above formula. Is performed, the impression of the image may change due to excessive correction. In order to avoid such a problem, a portion other than the arithmetic expression, for example, the color
[0025]
For example, the correction may be performed when the following condition is satisfied. These conditions can be appropriately combined according to the purpose of use.
(1) Correction is performed only on the boundary between regions having a large area. In this case, correction is performed only when the correction amount of an adjacent pixel is 0. This determination is performed by the color
(2) Correction is performed only when color misregistration is large In this case, a threshold setting unit is provided in the correction
(3) Adjusting the Correction Amount According to the Easiness of R, G, and B Color Misregistration In this case, even if the amount of color misregistration between both pixels is the same level, the correction
(4) Adjusting the correction amount according to the colors at both ends of the contour. This is because even if the color generated by the color shift is the same, the conspicuousness is different if the colors at both ends (dark to light and light to dark) of the contour are different. Therefore, in this case, the correction is performed by changing the correction coefficient stored in the ROM of the correction
(5) A
[0026]
When contour color correction is performed according to the present invention, it is possible to suppress a phenomenon in which a single color is conspicuous due to a color shift at a boundary portion. However, since this is dealt with by increasing or decreasing the signal level, the color at the contour portion is reduced. The balance may be slightly lost. However, since it is more conspicuous that a single color is seen at the boundary portion than the color balance is disrupted, the color balance is not a problem.
[0027]
In the above-described embodiment, the case of a PDP in which three cells R, G, and B are arranged in the horizontal direction to form one pixel is taken as an example. The color misregistration is detected by comparing. However, the present invention is not limited to this. For example, in the case of a PDP in which three cells constituting one pixel are vertically arranged, R, G, and B It is also possible to adopt a configuration in which color misregistration is detected by comparing signals. Further, the color shift can be corrected not only by the PDP but also by another display having a large pixel size by using the same method.
[0028]
【The invention's effect】
According to the first aspect of the present invention, even on a display having a large size of one pixel such as a PDP, even when an image having a clear outline such as a personal computer image is displayed, a color shift occurs at the outline. I can't.
[0029]
According to the second aspect of the present invention, the threshold value is set and the correction is performed only when the value is equal to or more than the predetermined value, so that more appropriate correction can be performed.
[0030]
According to the third aspect of the present invention, the pixel of interest is corrected only when the correction amount of the adjacent pixel is 0, so that only the boundary of a region having a large area can be corrected.
[0031]
According to the fourth aspect of the present invention, the correction is performed only on the signal portion adjacent to the signal whose signal level is equal to or more than the predetermined value, so that it is possible to prevent blurring of the contour and movement of the contour.
[0032]
According to the fifth aspect of the present invention, even if the color shift occurrence amount between the two pixels detected by the color shift detection unit is the same level, the correction coefficient is set to a different value for each of the R, G, and B signals. Since the amount of correction is calculated, it is possible to perform correction according to the degree of conspicuousness of different color misregistration in each of R, G, and B.
[0033]
According to the sixth aspect of the present invention, the correction amount is calculated by setting the correction coefficient to a different value depending on the color shift when the signal level changes from dark to light and when the signal level changes from light to dark. As a result, an average color change can be prevented.
[0034]
According to the seventh aspect of the invention, the correction is performed based on an arithmetic expression, and the correction amount is determined by a preset correction coefficient. In this case, the color difference can be adjusted most efficiently on the screen.
[0035]
According to the eighth aspect of the present invention, the correction amount is output only when the result of the discrimination by the signal discriminating section is determined to be an image having a clear contour. Therefore, the correction amount is output only to an image having a clear contour such as a personal computer image. Corrections can be made.
