Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a car body structure capable of enhancing rigidity and strength of a periphery to which a floor panel member is attached with a simple reinforcing structure by utilizing an existing reinforcement member. SOLUTION: In this car body construction, a lower part side of the reinforcement member 22 incorporated along a space between an inner panel member 2 and an outer panel member 10 is extended to the inner panel member 2 and a lower end part of the outer panel member 10, a partway portion of the lower part side is joined to an inner face of an extension panel member 16 joined to a lower part of the outer panel member 10, and a lower end part of the reinforcement member 22 is joined together with a lower end part of the inner panel member 2 and the lower end part of the outer panel member 10 to form a beam-like part H in a side of the floor panel member 7. By this, rigidity and strength of a wall part in the periphery of the lower part to which the floor panel member 7 is joined is enhanced with a simple structure, particularly in a tilting direction, without resorting to means such as particularly thickening board thicknesses of each body member.

Therefore, the rigidity around the lower part of the gate pillar portion 20 is effectively reinforced by utilizing the reinforcement member 22. In particular, the reinforcement is effective for reinforcing the rigidity in the direction S in which the vehicle body 1 falls in the vehicle width direction as shown in FIG.

Moreover, the reinforcement is performed by the reinforcement member 2.
Rather than securing the rigidity from the plate thickness of 2, the rigidity is secured at the beam-like structural portion obtained by the joining method of the reinforcement member 22, so that a panel member having a large plate thickness is used for the vehicle body 1. In addition, it is not necessary to process a panel member having a large plate thickness, and material costs and processing costs are small. In addition, the reinforcement can be dealt with only by the joining method of joining the intermediate portion of the reinforcement member 22 to the inner surface of the extension member 16 and joining the lower end portion to the inner / outer panel members 2, 10. It is inexpensive.

In particular, when a separate extension member 16 is used, the structure in which the lower portion of the reinforcement member 22 is joined to the inner surface of the extension member 16 is such that the trace of the junction covers the outer surface of the extension member 16. Since it is hidden by the bumper cover 17 to be attached, the appearance may be improved. In addition, with this bonding, the gap between the joining portion U (shown only in FIGS. 1 and 4) formed by the outer panel portion and the edge portion of the bumper cover 17 attached to the extension member 16 is not damaged. That is, usually, as the reinforcement member 22 to be assembled to the vehicle body 1, a panel member having a thickness greater than the thickness of the panel members forming the skeleton such as the inner panel member 2 and the outer panel member 10 is used. Therefore, the portion closest to the joining portion U, that is, the joining portion 2 that joins both the side outer panel member 10 and the extension member 16
When the intermediate portion of the reinforcement member 22 is joined at 3, the thermal effect (distortion) greatly appears at the joining portion U, and the gap of the joining portion U changes greatly, and the appearance may be impaired. Extension member 16 away from 23
When it is joined to the inner surface, the occurrence of distortion can be suppressed to a small level, so that good reinforcement can be performed without impairing the appearance at the joint portion U.
