Abstract

A rotary bar guide assembly for a door locking mechanism having a front guide plate disposed against a backing plate with both plates being secured together and to a door panel adjacent a horizontal edge of same, the front and backing plates having complementary portions offset forwardly from the plane of the door panel. A rotary locking bar being adapted to extend vertically between the two plates. The backing plate laterally confines the front plate and has a slot engageable by a lip formed on a rotary locking bar. Claims (6)

1. 41399/2 CLAIMS* ·'"'■ 1. A rotary bar guide assembly for a rotary bar door locking' mechanism comprising, a backing plate having a first planar portion adapted to be seated against a door panel and a second general I y planar portion offset forwardly of said first planar portion and spaced from the plane of said door panel adjacent a horizontal edge of said door panel, a mating front guide plate having a generally semi-cylindrical vertically disposed central portion whereby to accommodate a portion of a rotary bar between said central portion and said backing plate and having a pair of side flanges adapted to be seated flush against said backing plate along the side edges thereof, a portion of said guide plate side flanges being forwardly offset complementary to said offset portion of said backing plate, the offset portion of the backing plate having a horizontally disposed slot to receive a portion of an annular lip formed on the rotary bar, and · a plurality of aligned bores provided in the non-offset portions of said guide plate side flanges and said non-offset side edges of said backing plate so that same may be bolted together and to said door panel.
2. A guide assembly as recited. in Claim 1 wherein rotary bar guide means are provided on both planar portions of said backing plate.
3. A guide assembly as recited in Claim 1 wherein means are provided for securing said offset portions of said front guide plate and said backing plate together.
4. A guide assembly as recited In Claim 3 wherein said securing means comprises one or more bores formed In said offset portions of said guide plate side flanges to facilitate spot-welding same to said offset portion of said backing plate.
5. A guide assembly as recited in Claim 1 wherein means are provided on one of said plates for laterally confining the other plate.
6. A guide assembly as recited In Claim 5 wherein said confining means comprises a pair of forwardly projecting flanges formed on the sides of said forwardly offset portion of said backing plate and adapted for abutting engagement with the side edges of said offset portions of said side flanges of — . . . . 41399/2 ΐ rotary bar bearing is disposed between said backing plate and said generally
