Abstract
1372095 Composite beams P A BOONEN 12 Oct 1971 [12 Oct 1970] 47450/71 Heading E1K A composite beam, preferably of metal, comprises upper and lower flanges 1, 2 joined together by a composite web 3 formed by two folded sheets in face to face relationship each having a planar portion 6 opposed to that of the other sheet. Each sheet 4, 5 has edge portions 7, 8 connected to the flanges 1, 2 and inclined parts 9, 10 each forming one of the side walls of a triangular tube adjacent each flange. The beam being additionally provided with at least one reinforcement sheet which may be sandwiched between the planar portions 6 of the composite web or may be secured in or on the flanges. The flanges may be inclined to each other, see Fig. 7 (not shown) or one may be formed with angled plates providing a central apex, see Fig. 8 (not shown).
