Abstract

1,136,711. Floor panels. G. K. FINDLAY. 3 April, 1967 [3 Jan., 1966], No. 72/66. Heading E1W. A structural panel comprises outer skins 1, 2 of hard material, e.g. chipboard bridged and secured together by a sheet metal reinforcing member 3 intermediate the edges of the panel and sheet metal reinforcing members 7 at opposite edges of the panel which are formed at intervals, for example with holes 12, for the reception of means, such as dowels 15, providing a concealed connection between the panel and adjacent panels. The reinforcing members may be secured to the skin 2 by screws 6, 10 and to the skin 1 by a contact adhesive. Recesses 13 in the members 7 may be loosely filled by a block 17 of fire resistant material. Alternatively the recess 13 of one panel may receive the edge portion of the lower skin of an adjacent panel of less thickness. The assembled panels are secured to supporting beams 14, Fig. 2 (not shown).
