Abstract

998,693. Moulding filters. FILTERS Inc. May 5, 1964, No. 18652/64. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B1] A mould 15, having a centrally fitting die member 30 (Fig. 3), forms an annular mould cavity. Member 30 has threads 36 and a shoulder 34 to support a rubber gasket 35. Polyester resin is poured into the cavity (Fig. 4), and a hollow cylindrical filter member 11 is inserted in the liquid resin. The resin hardens, forming an end cap 43, bonded to the member 11, and the filter gasket and end cap are unscrewed from member 30. Mould 15 and member 30 are steel. Member 11 is resinbonded fibreglass. The filter member may be of layered construction, and an end closure cap may be formed in a similar fashion to cap 43 at the other end of the filter member (Fig. 6, not shown).
