Abstract

998,572. Valves. T. P. NICHOLSON. July 25, 1961 [March 21, 1961], No. 10289/61. Heading F2V. The seat for a stop valve comprises an apertured element of resilient sheet material and comprises a plane annular outer portion 2, Fig. 2, integral with a coaxial frusto-conical inner rim 3 convergent in the direction of opening of the closure member, the inner periphery of the rim being contracted by entry into the aperture of a frusto-conical portion 38, Fig. 18, of the closure member to seal with the portion. The inner periphery may be the edge of the rim, or the edge flared up or down or reinforced, while the seat element may be laminated or corrugated. The closure member is provided with a disc portion 37 abutting the seat when closed and the frusto-conical portion may be formed on a curved plug.
