A chill casting arrangement comprising pressure vessels dipping into metal melt and each provided with an opening for the admission of melt, a valve for closing said opening, a rising pipe leading to a chill mould, and means for introducing compressed gas so that melt is forced up the rising pipe into the mould, is characterized in that two or more pressure vessels dip into the melt in a common reservoir. The pressure vessels 4-4<SP>111</SP> each support a chill mould, and dip into an induction-heated reservoir 12, The reservoir is supplied alternately from furnaces 16, 16<SP>1</SP> whose discharge is regulated in dependence upon the level of melt in the reservoir (Figs. 2-4, not shown) show arrangements of the melt inlet valve of the pressure chamber. In a modification, the pressure vessels are arranged in circular formation in a furnace. Various arrangements of melting and casting furnaces are described.
