Abstract

1,193,667. Continuous casting. METACON A.G. 17 Oct., 1967 [18 Oct., 1966], No. 47297/67. Heading B3F. [Also in Divisions F2 and F4] A molten metal container 2, such as a furnace or a ladle, has a valve housing 14 with a cover 18, containing upper and lower stationary blocks 22, 28 and an intermediate rotatable valve 38 which regulates the discharge of the metal. A bushing 34 conducts the metal through an insulated refractory tube 60 in a metal casing 72 below the surface of a slag-covered bath 84 in a continuous casting mould 80. Outlet channels 68 make an angle of at least 45 degrees with the tube axis. Alloying material 92 may be introduced in a protective gas atmosphere into the tube 60.
