Abstract

997,409. Processing photographic film. ILFORD Ltd. Feb. 26,1964 [March 6,1963], No. 8973/63. Heading G2A. A photographic film sheet 11, e.g. radiographic film, coated on one or both sides with viscous processing solutions, as at 14, is transported between two endless bands 1, 2 which contact the sheet on both sides. The solution is applied to the film sheet by coated rollers 12,13, themselves coated by applicators 15. The sheets may be in continuous lengths, but the figure shows cut sheets passing through the device, sheet 11 entering and sheet 18 leaving. The coating on sheet 18 is being removed by high pressure water jets 21, 22, and any coating remaining on the bands 1, 2 is removed by scrapers 23, 24. The roller pairs 12-13, 3-4, and 5-6 are slightly offset, as shown, so as to accommodate variations of thickness in the coated sheets. An example is given with some detailed numerical data.
