[Also in Division F2] A door closer having a housing 10 adapted to be mounted in a recess above or below a door to which it is keyed by a spindle 16, includes springs 32, 33 compressed during door opening by the engagement of rollers 26 with cover plate 28, and a pre-filled liquid tight dash-pot 25 damping door closure through contact of roller 20 on the end of piston rod 22 with cam plate 19 attached to spindle 16 The cover plate 11 may be taken off and the dash-pot unit removed for servicing, without disturbing the remaining components, while the device is in its operative position. The rate of closure may be controlled by needle valve 47. The springs may also be removed while the closer is in position.
